  2. I (had my friend) change the heater on my UM2+X and there was no software upgrades needed. The 35W is just more robust than the 25W, so heating up goes faster, and the heat sensor stops pushing the heating once the temp is right and keeps is at the same temp. The Bondtech feeder does need soft/firmware upgrading and I'm working on that as well. I have the Bondtech BMG Extruder for 1.75mm on order, and I know it will want an E-step value of 415, but I don't know how to get that into the machine. What feeder do you have?
  3. This is queued up to 1:07 in my video. Pause immediately and look at that frame that shows how much your first layer should be squishing: youtu.be/t58-WTxDy-k?t=67

  5. Hello and thank you so much for this guide! I am using a Rep 2 and was super excited to come across this post. I've got it working now with one exception, it appears some settings don't seem to work, like combing. In MakerBot Print I can get decent prints, never with no stringing ever, however in Cura it strings like crazy. I have attempted everything to fix this and have found combing isn't preventing any external travels at all... is this a result of the profile? Regardless, thank you again for this profile, SUPER HELPFUL! - Shantarr
  6. I think this is what you need to do. Cura uses two machine definition files. They should be in a folder that looks a lot like this: C:\Program Files\Ultimaker Cura 4.6\resources\definitions\ One file is "creality_base.def.json" and the second is "creality_ender3.def.json" They are text files and will open in Notepad. Within the Ender 3 definition file there might be an area like this (the numbers shown are for my E3Pro): Within the section "overrides" find... "machine_disallowed_areas": { "default_value": [ [[-117.5, 117.5],

  8. Now you get to play detective. Cura didn't enable Change At Z all by itself. If you search the settings for Temperature several lines will come up. The ones you are concerned with are all under "Material".
  9. One more thing about layer heights. I have come across some posts here and there regarding the Creality machines that say to use even number layer heights. .20, .18, .16, .14 are good. .13, .17 etc, are bad. It has something to do with the way numbers get rounded off during the calculations in the printer. I know in Cura it was an issue when calculating the E numbers and that is why the E resets every 4157mm of filament (10,000 mm of extrusion).
  10. Hi, I was testing what I suppose a "simple thing", a vertical sheet. Basically I would print the thinnest sheet I could with my nozzle (0.4mm). I have 2 questions: I would print it at "high speed", but even if I set all the speed settings to 100mm/s (a random high speed) in practise the entire sheet is printed at 10mm/s. You can see from Cura preview. At every layer change, the nozzle return at the same position, wasting time in travelling. I would see the printer emitting constant filament alternating from right-to-left and left-to-right. I had tried to change Z Seam Alignmen
  11. Thanks for replying. I was thinking that "layer height" was somewhat "fixed" by predefined settings, next time I will tune the layer height as you said. It seems the most effective solution to now. I had understand your solution, it is feasible but it seems more an hacking than a final solution. As you had pointed out, printing another layer would be a more elegant solution.
  12. Hello to all Can any one help me ?? I am using the profile from cura for the ultimaker TPU on a S5 also using ultimaker TPU As you can see the part edge is getting problems Thanks for your help
  13. Thank you very much for the quick answer! The error will not occur after that. With me it was 3* "Change At Z". I missed the icon, but why does Cura think to do that? There is nothing in the settings that changes temperatures?
  14. At the beginning of the Gcode file you will see ";POSTPROCESSED". Next to the Cura Slice button is an icon with a crossed wrench and hammer. Yours probably has a small red circle next to it. Click on the icon and there will be a list of active Post Processing Plugins. To the right of "Change At Z" (that's the CAZD) will be an X that will close the plugin.
  15. Hello! I'm starting to use larger nozzles on my old 2+ and 0.8 nozzles I'm doing some extrusion multiplier testing and found that with ColorFabb White PLA, I'm at 94% flow. That seems ok. I'm curious what people are using for retraction settings? I'm observing some stringing at 5mm distance (25 mm/s). I couldn't see any suggested settings in the latest version of Cura, for some reason my profile options are "draft quality" and no other options listed? (In 4.8, i can't see my Material settings at all using "Generic PLA", so I can't seem
  16. sorry, I forgot to attach the 3mf file 🙂 ASX1_basev4 - andererSupport.3mf
  17. No, it is a single extruder (artillery sidewinder x1). I have found out that this strange behaviour only occurs when I turn on support The following lines are the errors (it occurs twice and is not reset to the original 245°): ;[CAZD: M104 S190.0 T0 ;:CAZD] then about 6000 lines later (of course depending on the model): ;[CAZD: M104 S210.0 T0 ;:CAZD] I don't know what "CAZD" means either I have attached the complete gcode, these are adapter pieces for the E3D Hemera Extruder, to be on the safe side I will m
  18. I still think your nozzle needs to be closed to the bed. The first layer should be squished more into the bed, then you will get a better first layer. So level your bed closer to the nozzle.
  19. Interestingly those settings are also creating a spiral with the current Cura build. I'm trying to figure out now what was causing my slicing to fail previously. It might be that I had retraction enabled. I was surprised to find that spiral slicing didn't override the retraction option. Thanks again for your help. I'm hoping Cura will solve a couple of issues I had with spiral slicing in Simplify. Sometimes I would get a really prominent Z seam even though the motion was spiral. It seems that there is a slight pause or a slowdown once per loop without a corresponding pause in flow. I
  20. I recently got a new bondtech feeder and changed the heater(25w) and sensor on my um2 to the ones for the um2+(35w). How do I modify my firmware to match these modifications.
  21. Also note: For some reason that I cannot explain, I do get a bit of what I call PVA dandruff, but not a compromised support. I also do not use the priming tower when printing. That may be why I get the dandruff 🙂
  22. Hmm, There is some issues with Cura when viewing the file in "slicing mode", I just come to think about this issue. just forgot this one, -open Cura 4.8, then load the actual gcode file saved for printing by Burts Master version, you will now see no seam anymore.. Just did a test of this, so now you know. I'll guess it will work that way in the master as well.. Good luck Thanks Torgeir
  23. Hallo, zou je mij die bestanden ook kunnen toesturen? ik heb hetzelfde probleem. bij voorbaat dank. gr,Marc
  24. Well, I was just trying to send some questions about this, cause the fact is you'll see the seam in Cura preview .but the seam is gone when you actually print it. You may look at the gcode file (using notepad / notepad+), in here you will only se one G0 code in the beginning of the file. During the whole spiralize printing there is no G0 commands.. I've used S3D to confirm this. Thanks Torgeir
  25. That seems to be the issue. My test is spiralizing properly. Thanks for your help.
  26. The preview in Cura does not work well for this. If you want to preview before printing you need to save the gcode and look at the model in another gcode viewer. The CraftWare slicer showed my seam problem very clear, and it was easy to see when the problem went away.
  27. Thanks for clarifying. Unless the problem now is with the preview, that series of choices does not seem to solve the issue. Here is what I get when slicing a test cylinder with that fork, Normal, and Smooth: You can see how the layer is clearly stepped up. I'll go ahead and print the file to see if it is a preview issue, but I was getting clearly stepped models with starts and stops using those settings and the current build.
