"The Visitor" aka Little John
This is 3D model we made, based on the statue "The Visitor".

I sliced the model with Simplify3D so I could use the double-process feature. The bottom 3 centimeters have an infill of 60% and the rest is 15%. This makes the statue much more stable on my desk.
Printed with Colorfabb standard White on my UM2+ extended.
I'll be printing a whole collection of these little johns very soon.

+feeder bracket for U2RS

In case you want to keep using the rail system (U2RS) and want to upgrade to the new + feeder I published a simple bracket. Upgrading is pretty easy, specially when you reuse the feeder motor.
Get all parts for the feeder at your local distributor.
Your feeder motor needs to have the D-shaped axis to be able to reuse it.
- get the feeder parts at you local reseller.
- Print the bracket
- Mount the feeder (when you reuse it, the axis of the feeder motor has to stick 10mm out of the small gear)
Upgrade the firmware to Tinker 16.03.1

Change the e steps from E282 to E564, with the fantastic @tinkergnome firmware you do this in preferences/motion settings.

1 Meter long TOS Enterprise

This is a 1 Meter long TOS Enterprise. It is cut up into parts that can be printed without supports. Included is a large sized Instruction sheet that lays out how many of each tab to print.
The individual parts are full mesh resolution and oriented to print. It is a collection of huge file sizes. But carries decent detail.
The Optimized files are grouped by sections and are not oriented to print. They also lose some fidelity during the optimization process.But, not everybody can process or has fast internet, so, this was to offer choice.

This is a still ongoing thread as I get more materials up, including print images and some things I did to facilitate printing. I printed most of the model in Polycarbonate for strength, well, until I ran out of it. Then I switched to CPE+. So, keep a look out if you want to see tips and tricks as well as post processing updates.
I am going to be printing a new piece to go inside the Nacelle Scoops to get that cool lighting look without having to light the model. It just ain't designed for lighting unless you want to bore out a lot of space to run wiring. I may set something like that up in the future. WAY in the future LOL But, as soon as I get scoop effects pieces printed and tested, I will add it to the mix. Well, I hope it works. Pre-render tests seem to look good. But visualization and reality do not always match up.
This thing took a little more than a week to print.
As a helpful hint, print the tabs last so that you can adjust for individual materials, shrinkage expansion.

How I Designed This
Designed to be printed without supports
This will of course depend on your printer and material you use. It is designed to allow for enlargement and reduction should you want to play with scale. Each part is watertight and no red errors in slicers.
I went with a tab and slot system as I found it to allow for the most flexibility if one chooses to enlarge or reduce the model to print on various systems and materials.
Markings are in raised guides to facilitate painting should you desire to do so. I did try to make them easy to see and use, yet not obtrusive.
The deflector dish was designed to be added post production so that if you want to paint the model, it will make it easier to paint that copper color inside the deflector rings. The images seen so far are just the Engineering section epoxied together, the Saucer section Epoxied together, the Nacelle Scoops (printed in different, transparent color) and Deflector Dish epoxied (Not visible in the photos) are in a loose fitting for the pics, and to facilitate the post printing process. It is just easier to putty, prime, sand and prepare the parts and then epoxy together for a final paint job.
The stand will come a bit later as I am still printing out some things. I just wanted to get this much up because, well, it just takes forever to print, if you are REALLY ambitious.
I am in the process of puttying and sanding then painting the model. Not in a hurry as I like to take a Zen approach to such things. I find it relaxing, no need to rush it
14 Inch model will be up as soon as I get it organized.

1:100 Scale Model of a German Field Wagon

The wagon is a re-creation of a German Field Wagon from World War II. I think that it is pretty close to a true scale representation. It is printed as a kit in parts using a 250 micron nozzle for some of the fine details. The horses and the people are castings.
I really wish that I could claim to have built the diorama that is starring my wagon but, alas, I can most assuredly not!
This diorama was built by Bill, the Scenic Doctor, who is a "Yoda" of model building as near as I can tell. He has been modeling for 40 years and has a whole wealth of experience in all types of models. He also casts in resins for models that are not available otherwise. Buildings, trees and scenery are what he does best as for a few years he worked with the biggest modeling company in Scotland.

1:200 DA Model

First real test of a large print time, 36 hours using PLA/PVA support material. I come across alot of balconies and overhangs in my work so hoping the UM3 does all it is supposed to do. So far so good. Only issue is my prime tower keeps falling down. I used a brim which helped for a bit but then failed, thank goodness it didn't affect the final result.

19 small wooden prints of a village

This is the model of the village where our fablab is located (St Cyr de Favières). Modelled with Blender from aerial views, pictures and map, with the aim to make the village easy to recognize.
We wanted to make 19 of them, as a gift to the 19 mayors of the villages with the same name as the one of our fablab, as they gathered for their annual meeting.
The big print was too long, so we reduced it a little to stay under the 5 hours per print limit.

1meter french pastry

Here in France, we love pastries. And of course when a customer when to one of our shop and asked us about making a HUUUUGE pastry, we just said "Challenge accepted" !
Our customer came to us to create a canelé that he will be able to expose to different show right up on his stand.
Because he wanted to have something absolutely unbelievable and a kinda "visible", we asked us to make him something around 1 meter diameter on 90cm tall.
Well, everybody knows here that 1 meter machines aren't the most easiest findable kind. And not the most reliable either. So, and because we have the abality to prod by our network shop in France mostly with some Ultimaker machines, we decided to divide eveything to fit in 20x20x20cm plate... Sounds a lot of parts already !
We created the 3D model with one of the cooking-used mold of canelé and thnen splitted eveything as expected.
In résumé, it made us 5 different floors to create, with 12 parts per floor (5th floor was 2x12 parts), and also the central part. Totally, it was 74 parts to be 3D printed !
We made it with 0.8mm nozzle at 350 microns resolution, around 8% infill. That's 400 print hours we dispatched everywhere in our ideOkub newtork to be faster and everything came back to me in Bordeaux, where assembling everything by myself took me 2 weeks !
After sanding, we gave it to an auto body shop expert for the last sanding and polishing.
Then, it was paint time in copper color, just like real "old" canelé mold.
It was very challenging but we made it ! And all with UM reliability... Thanks to our customer to for trusting us, and... see you for the 15 more like this one !

The recent update of cura also mentioned the weight of the object, so this gave me the idea to create this object 2x1 inch, with the weight of 21 grams.
This is an update on a previous handmade 2.1 design.
The previous version was not that accurate compared with 3D printing methods, so here is a 3D printed version of the design.

It’s something small, but also an essential thing you can hold on to,
a reminder of those moments, like I mashed them together into this piece.
How to make:
Print a hollow cube the size of 1 inch.
After printing add dirt to the material by creating a small opening on the side till you reach 21 grams..
Close the side with some glue.
Done
