I modeled this from the collection at the Denver Museum of Science using Z brush.
This was my first print, but I will be re printing it soon with the legs separate to get a better print. The beetle is Lamprima adolphinae.

Twisted Vase with Olsson Block and 1mm nozzle!

This is a well known vase printed in Blue Lagoon from Faberdashery (very nice).
It's printed with my Ultimaker 2 modified with the Olsson Block and a 1mm nozzle from www.3dSolex.com.
Printed in Spiralize mode with a 1mm wall, and 0.5mm layers! It's very fast, around 1h25 to print at full height (200mm).

No sanding acetone PLA paint test

Here is a piece (not modelled) not sanded at all, half dipped in acetone for 25secs and then sprayed with undercoat primer, and then with gold paint. I think it illustrates how nicely acetone smooths Ultimaker Blue PLA, shame it is apparently no longer available. I still have a bit thank god, and some green which also appears unavailable. I wonder if the new UM BLue available is just as good chemically to react to acetone as the old one that came with the printer. If not thats a VERY big shame.
Just thought i would post this in case people wonder how the surface of PLA can easily be smoothed whilst still keeping most detail unlike ABS. A step that is essential if you plan on painting your creations and do not want the model covered in distracting print lines.
You can do this with color-fabb PLA as well but it takes longer and does not wipe as many lines away.

copper paint with black wash and then sanded down. went a bit OTT with the wash, but it looks great for what i want and looks like real copper in real life. doesnt look that coppery in th photos.

UltiRobot Move V2

Version 2 of my UltiRobot and included head movement this time.
Improved arm and leg areas so they dont stick as much.
Increasing the scale makes it easier for the limbs to free up. have printed it at x2 the original size. any more then this and I think some joints maybe too loose

dual extrusion pencil box

My first duration test of the dual head setup, this print took +/- 10 hours and >400 tool head changes.
Unfortunately the calibration was still a tiny bit of, but it's a nice clean print.
15mm retraction on tool change, +0.5mm compensation for leaking, layer 0.2, fill 15%

Dual PLA on the 2 headed Ultimaker2

There's no other point in printing the green on every layer and the overdone infill other than testing the dual head setup. As you see there's really no pollution of the green PLA into the white.

First and second print!

Printed from the SD card for the robot, and used the normal quickprint profile with supports in Cura for the Corn Farmer.
I thought it appropriate to print the Corn Farmer out of PLA for one of my first prints...

OpenRC 65T Spur Gear Vase

This vase is based on the profile of the Central Differential 65T spur gear on the OpenRC Truggy.
The base of the vase have the exact profile as the original spur gear.
The vases on the pictures are printed on a ZYYX 3D printer with a enlarged nozzle (1.0mm) and the layers are 1.0mm.
Print speed kept to a minimum (5.0mm/s) for optimal clarity of the Taulman T-Glase PETT material.

Dolphin with Meshmixer support

I just get a Ultimaker 2 and playing around with a few test prints, the ones that doesn't need support come out very nicely, but those that need support seems to have some bad overhang, I am using the "High quality" setting in Cura, need some tips on how to improve this.
