Code Of Conduct

Ultimaker houses one of the biggest, most helpful 3D print communities in the world. We are proud of this and work hard to maintain the pleasant atmosphere. As such, we’ve set up some basic house rules to ensure our community remains a fun place for everyone. Please read these house rules carefully before taking part in the community.

Be considerate.

Everyone on the forums is here by their own free will. They’re not hired by Ultimaker, nor do they have any obligations to be here. Please take this into account when asking for help, and when opinions or guidance are offered in return. A fellow user may be in a tense situation without the luxury of time, don’t be in a hurry to feel offended and don’t be offensive in return. There is a strong possibility that your questions and answers will be read by others with similar issues. Help them too. Conduct yourself respectfully and help us keep this a place that’s enjoyable for everyone.

Be respectful.

Ultimaker community members treat one another with respect. Everyone’s contributions are valuable, and we all try to help one another. We might not always agree, but disagreement is no excuse for poor behavior and bad manners. You might feel frustrated at times, but it’s important to make sure frustration doesn’t escalate into a personal attack. Communities where people feel uncomfortable are not pleasant places to be. We expect members of the Ultimaker community to be respectful when dealing with other members as well as with people outside the forums, and users of Ultimaker products.

Be collaborative.

Collaboration is key to Ultimaker and its open source community. This collaboration may involve individuals working with others or alone, or even with Ultimaker. Be as open-minded to collaboration as possible, and feel free to reach out to fellow community members. Remember, everything starts with an idea.

Be informative.

The forum is a place to chat, consult, inspire and learn from each other.

Continuously promoting (your own) products does not contribute to any of these factors and for that reason it’s not appreciated. However, if you know a product and it’s genuinely relevant to a topic or question, you are free to make recommendations.

Be real.

Don’t spam our forums. Spam includes unsolicited advertisements for goods, services and/or other websites, or posts with little or completely unrelated content. Do not spam the forums with links to your site or products, or try to self-promote your website, business or forums etc.

Be curious.

When unsure, ask for help. Nobody knows everything, and no-one is expected to be perfect. Asking questions is encouraged, as it boosts your knowledge and helps you to avoid future problems.

Be inspirational.

The foundation of Ultimaker lies in sharing. It is something we value highly and we try to inspire others to do the same. Take pride in being a pioneer and share your projects, experience and knowledge. Inspire others and be inspired in return.

In conclusion, be nice and let your creativity shine through. Thanks for reading - see you on the forums!
