  1. Longtime user and lover of ultimakers here since the start: I personally own an original, X2 UM2gos (the best ones IMO) and a UM3 and at work I manage a large fleet of X2 UMs5, X2 UM3, X2 UM2go, X8 UM2+ and now we just got X4 UM2+ Connects. We also have about 10 other "pro level" (expensive) printers. We have around 30 printers total. We run the Tinkergnome firmware (ver16, anything newer has a fatal bug, please fix that Mr. Tinkergnome) on all the 2+ versions, this firmware makes them my most used printers out of all of them, yes including the ones that cost between 30k and 80k. This is because with tinkergnome everything is visible and tunable, it feels like a professional tool such as a CNC machine, not a toy. Ive had the UM2+ connects for over a week and the Hardware is a great upgrade, but the firmware is like a child's toy. To us this is a MAJOR step back and is a total deal breaker for me, Where is the tune menu? Wheres the printing data? For example: when the machine is warming up the screen just has text that says "the machine is warming up" and nothing else, no number, no status bar. When we got the S5 I was disappointed by how few options are in the menus but with the UM2+ connects you cant even change temps or feed rates while the machine is running, let alone see any data at all. ......Even my cheap 200 dollar Ender3 shows me this So am I missing something? Help me out because Im ready to throw these glorified toys in the trash and get old UM2+ machines on Ebay Is this thing even running Marlin?? REQUEST: Pro level firmware for the UM2+ Connect that has ALL options and shows ALL data, even options that will crash/break the machine if used improperly by an idiot. Rant over, Thank you.

  2. I have upgraded my S5 to 6.2.2, but it hasn't changed the behavior. I believe the issue is on Cura for macOS I will create a ticket

  3. Those kind of artifacts can also occur if your first layer is too close to the buildplate.

  4. 1) Profile import/export system doesn't work very good and needs improvements... For example: I have a exported a nice profile for my UM3, fine quality, PETG: 'inmoov.curaprofile'. When I do a fresh installation of Cura (all old cura-data erased), install my UM3 again and try to import the cura-profile backup, the program complains that it's not possible to import. I have checked the stored profile (it's a zipfile, renamed the extension to .zip): then I see 3 files. Seems to be those profile files are only contains the changed settings based of the used base profile. In my case I used the base profile 'fine'. And this is the case where it goes wrong, in a new Cura configuration you start with a few basic profiles: as soon you store a profile as a new one, all default profiles are gone.. When I start with a fresh Cura installation, add my printer and add eSun PETG, I see only a base profile 'draft'. If you search for Ultimaker profile issues on the internet, you will find enough hits... Personally I would be very happy if it was possible to export/import a profile which is COMPLETE (all settings, not only the diff settings based on a used base profile). Also it would be great if was possible to import a profile from for example a UM3 to the configuration of another type of printer. 2) Profile settings vs 2 extruders Something else: if you use 2 extruders like with the UM3: you can store a profile, but for example the skirt extruder is always extruder 1 or 2? That's not allways what you want, example: you have PETG Blue in extruder1 and PETG YELLOW in extruder2 and you have a nice profile for both extruders (same settings for both extruders). Now you want to use only extruder 1 to print something, with the current software you must check your profile first and change the selected extruder for the skirt, support, etc first to extruder1. Otherwise your print will be made by both extruders. Same thing if you only want to use extruder2. I really like Cura, but the profile import/export system needs a lot of improvement. There are a few plugins now to help you with your printersettings: this is a sign for Ultimaker that this profile/printer settings software really needs more attention and must be improved.. 😉 Arthur

  5. #metoo Ultimaker disappointed me too with there Apple style approach of GUI's. We are engineers! We have to deal with technical systems. As ZD3D calls it, not with toys. An simple temperature indication would have safe me an hour on finding out the wrong profile was selected for some part. Feed-rate an speed are also not that hard to plot on the GUI. And maybe it's the lake of processing power for the display but the "fade" effect between selection and menus is on addition of the poor rotary button extremely toy feeling. Please give us tools to work with. Not a toy with one play button!

  6. As a @jasons mentioned, the problem is in bad registered mouse pointer. In my case, this is caused by multiple monitors attached to the my macbook (or by reattaching monitors?). Application must be opened on "right" display (don't known on what depends it), then it should work properly.

  8. Me too! But I think some key features are missing here to make it a 'professional cloud printer'. - remote light control - queue up for prints - proper progress view in cura - possibility to add a webcam (something we instantly realized we will miss) to name a few. But I am looking forward to see those and others beeing integrated in future firmwares 😉 But that's critism on a very high level. Our previous printer was a constant pain in the a**

  9. Great Niklas that you found a solution. As said yes it is not nice, but currently the only way. Them UM2+C is a little bit different compared to the other UM printers. With the UM2+C you cannot have a direct connection between Cura and the printer as it is with UM3, S3, S5. You have to use the digital factory and that's the reason why there is no way to enter an IP address in Cura, because it is not needed. Regarding the LEDs: Unfortunately this is currently not possible. You can only turn the lights on all the time or off. The functionality we know from the other UM printers, that you can say switch on the lights during printing is currently not possible. But I guess and hope it will come with one of the next firmware updates, because it is very useful feature and I don't want to have the lights on all the time. Currently I have turned them off completely. The firmware covers currently only some basics and I am sure more will come.
