- Fertig!
Gruss & herzlich willkommen! Flo
4. You're a legend man! Really love to see that happening. Wonderful engineering and tinkering! Hope that you print one of my 3d-printable Tricopters soon for the upcoming CC3D Cheers Flo #Crosspost-connection-rocks: http://forums.openpilot.org/topic/12132 ... aker-love/
5. I chime in, too: - Belt tension, belt tension, belt tension, especially: small belt tension, small belt tension, small belt tension - Disable dwindle: I don't like that either anymore (except for retraction testing), anybody knows how far Bernhard & Co got with their firmware implemented "Advance v2" feature? - Another one: Probably it could help to give the steppers for X and Y a bit more voltage. That having said: Don't just turn up the pots - we'll discuss that on the phone. Upfront... here's a sketch I made to illustrate what we're aiming for when I helped another UM user yesterday: https://docs.google.com/drawings/d/1awE ... Ebxds/edit Cheers Flo
6. Yep, I think so too: - Belt tension: Especially check the two small/short ones to the X/Y steppers. - Printing temperature & speed: Go slower with less temperature --> 70mm/s + 220 °C (depending on the material I would lower to 215°C) - Infill: Are you sure you want to print with 100% infill?! In my opinion a waste of time and material. I've rarely used more than 25% ever so far. - Material in general: You as a heavy duty user needs to have the best possible material. As much as I like the Ultimaker material, I think for you especially it would make sense to invest in a big load of faberdashery materials. The diameter is spot on over long streches of filament. Measure before printing (I hope you have a digital caliper!) and your experience will be way better. Also settle on one or two filament colors and understand their behavior at certain temperatures and speeds. Your boss wants to see this running I guess, so get my systematic about your approaches. - Kisslicer: Definitely worth a try, but it won't fix the issues you're seeing there. On a side note: I'm in big trouble with four exams in the next two weeks, but we should really catch up on things in a phone call soon. Just call me in the evening sometime and we'll see when we can squeeze in a Germany UM meetup. Over&our - Flo
7. In my case it is recently I forgot to share the stuff here.... so here we go: More about it: Pictures: http://goo.gl/wQmrH Thingiverse: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:26408 More is coming soon, which makes more sense then. Cheers Flo
Gruss Flo
9. Nice print! Is this dinosaur model online? Looks like a nice "support benchmark" model
10. Cool! Gruss, Flo
11. Hitesh & armstorm - GREAT WORK! Both print look really good @armstorm: Is this ABS? @Hitesh: I guess with retraction, right? You had a modified extruder setup, if I'm not mistaken? Cheers Flo
12. The values I came up with are based on experiments with the hollow calibration pyramid. I increased the retraction from 2mm up to 5mm in 0.5 steps and found 4.5mm to be best. After that I played with dwindle and found it to be very confusing. At some point I was sure it isn't doing any good to the print, but when comparing a hollow 4.5mm retraction pyramid with one PLUS dwindle it still looked better (most likely just due to lower speeds...). So don't take these settings as a scientific fact, it's just a first try. Everybody should play with these settings and share the results. 4.5mm is quite a lot, so with "retraction-heavy" prints you end up with destroyed filament... therefore we need to get this number down by other means and improve the filament feeder to be less destructive to the filament. Cheers Flo
13. Hi ConcreteTurtle & Sinar, and everybody else with this problem: Please contact support@ultimaker.com and quickly address your issue. We've tracked down the problem to a spool of faulty tubes. Imagine a spool of 100 meters of tube, with some 2m long faulty parts right in the middle. We've never seen it before and need to talk to the supplier what's going on here. Of course you get replacements shipped to you as soon as possible. Cheers Florian [Currently Intern at Ultimaking Ltd.]
14. Hey there, just some short notes on the UltiEvening at Protospace on Monday. It was great! Find the slides of my talk as well as a fun video of Joris latest idea ("The Analog Heated Bed v0.1") here: http://techwall.net/ultievening-protospace Direct links: - Slides: http://getfile4.posterous.com/getfile/files.posterous.com/temp-2012-06-06/DAqhrhzCsqqhHxfDeonxGBGkFFDwlwcgnvyvhBDoquyIeroCztGiyncyCdbD/Ultimaker_On_Retraction_Florian_Horsch_v1_web.pdf - Video: The talk was basically about the latest achievements within the community on the retraction topic. I tried to circle the reason why we didn't do that earlier (or why we couldn't do it earlier). Regarding the other talks: - REALLY GREAT VIDEO on building an Ultimaker at school: (English subtitles available. You gotta see the end! Last statement - WINNING!)- KarmaMaker: --> Next UltiEvening is at the KamerMaker architect venue in Amsterdam. The container is already there! The community is invited to print object which decorate the outside!- There was another talk about an easy to use 2D to 3D doodling tool which I sadly missed. @Presenter: Please post details and links! For everybody who's close-by: UltiEvening is a MUST-SEE event for UM operators. Come next time to Amsterdam. Cheers Flo
15. Nice one David! Looking forward to some better photos Cheers Flo
16. "Almost" - that's the important word here. Ultimaker's versions are missing the E-yerk setting and are therefore not ready for retraction without missing steps. Cheers Flo
17. Don't get too excited There's still some work to do. In the long run we need smarter slicing software and probably a routine in the firmware which does some clever things to prevent oozing/pressure in the tube. Bernhard & ErikvdZ is working on that. When working with the retraction settings I've posted make sure that you're running a current firmware. And I'm not talking about the RepG provided crap version. Just use Cura for an update, if you feel comfortable with it. Here's a video of a crazy print I've just finished: Keep in mind that this is not what we're aiming for... it's nice, but still not perfect! Cheers Flo PS: Also don't get sad, when you can't get it working on your machine. It's easiest with the new v3 bolt (which is available in the shop and worth every penny). Also print the shim for the extruder side! http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:22851
18. One more: @ Gaël: Could you go in more depth on the tube you're now using? How did it help with retraction to give the filament even more slack? Would you say that you're having so much less friction that it's better? Please provide the source where you bought it and share your retraction settings. This is really valuable info for the whole community and Ultimaker. Thanks! Flo
19. Hi Destroyer2012, I've just saw that you're basically working on the same stuff as I do currently Good to see so much work happening on the retraction front. It's really bad style to lure somebody from the forum into the nasty mailing list, but could you have a quick read through this thread and give a quick opinion on it. Possibly you have similar/totally different findings. We should just take care that we're reaching our goal as soon as possible. Here's the link: https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgr ... gDZLDdpcoU Thanks Flo PS: Add me on Google+ if you want to have a chat about this. Possibly tomorrow?
Gruss, Flo
23. Hey guys, it's a shame that I don't use the forums regularly. I'm still on the mailing list... we need to fix that situation at some point to the one way or the other. Anyways: Just wanted to give you an update on what's going on currently regarding string-prevention/proper retraction. By using some pretty straight-forward settings in Cura I achieved to get string-free print on my current test parts. There's still a lot of work to be done, but it's a clear statement: WE CAN DO IT See here the hollow pyramid: And here a nice bracelet: Cheers Flo PS: Find the Cura profile here: https://groups.google.com/d/msg/ultimak ... C_v0aLS0AJ
24. Hi Janosch, great to have you in! Then it's already five of us: Toni, Andreas, Ian, you and myself. So four UM operators and with Ian a long-time fan of UM (and hopefully a operator himself in the near future). Please drop me a mail through: https://plus.google.com/116416453568555193309/ if we miss each other at the event. Then we exchange mobile numbers quickly. See you tomorrow! Florian
25. Hi Robert, did you had a look in the Raft selection menu? This was the spot where you could select it as a raft type in the early betas. I didn't had the time yet to look into it myself. Get back to you in more details after I checked it. Quite some work to do from what I've read so far.... Cheers, Flo
