  1. Hi @steveprinters29! Can you clarify where the "extruder settings" are? Is that in Cura, or on the UM2E+ itself?
  2. Thanks @gr5! Here is the slice view. The source of this print is https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:27233 (I'm just playing around with fun things at this point!) I'll try lowering the temperature, and also observe whether the fan is at 100% (is there an easy way to do the latter?)
  3. Hi! I've started printing on a new-to-me UM2E+ and noticed that cylinders (circular "posts") are printing wider at the top than at their base. I would think this is a software configuration issue? I'm using default print settings, but with a layer height of 0.32 on a 0.4 hotend. Everything else is printing beautifully. Any suggestions? Thanks, Duane
  4. Here's my configuration for Slic3r 0.5.1beta. I get a pretty clean print on a calibration cube. I'd like to test it on more complex objects (like magNEATO for example but unfortunatley slic3r doesn't handle that well yet. bottom_layer_speed_ratio = 0.2 duplicate_distance = 6 duplicate_x = 1 duplicate_y = 1 end_gcode = M104 S0 ; turn off temperature G1 Z+30 ;move Z up a bit and retract filament by 5mm G28 X0 ; home X axis M84 ; disable motors M107 ; turn fan off filament_diameter = 2.94 filament_packing_density = 1 fill_angle = 30 fill_density = 0.4 fill_pattern = archimedeanchords first_layer_height_ratio = 1 infill_every_layers = 1 layer_height = 0.2 no_extrusion = 0 nozzle_diameter = 0.32 perimeter_feed_rate = 30 perimeters = 2 print_center = 100,100 print_feed_rate = 80 retract_before_travel = 2 retract_length = 0 retract_lift = 0 retract_restart_extra = 0 retract_speed = 40 rotate = 0 scale = 1 skirt_distance = 20 skirt_height = 1 skirts = 2 solid_fill_pattern = rectilinear solid_layers = 2 start_gcode = M92 X78.7402 Y78.7402 E926 G28 ; home all axes M106 ; turn fan on temperature = 240 travel_feed_rate = 250 use_relative_e_distances = 0 z_offset = 0
  5. I'm giving this a try (SF44) and I'm finding it to be a little disorienting, although I think I can push through to the end. Little things are really big when getting started I guess. For example, where does start.gcode go? I see one in ~/.skeinforge/alterations/start.gcode, and I see one in skeinforge_application/alterations/start.gcode... and yet neither of them is being read when I produce test_export.g! Also, why is the suffix .g now, rather than .gcode? I wonder if I'm doing something wrong. Anyway, I think this path will be worthwhile in the end, it's just hard slogging at first, especially without beautiful 3D objects to show for the effort so far
  6. Thanks, greenarrow. I might try number 3. Was this adjustment a hardware or software adjustment? I know how to modify the Arduino code and upload that. The hardware is more of a weak point for me
  7. Ah! I recently changed the thickness from 0.3 to 0.285, and I've noted an occasional bumping of the nozzle here or there. What's the best way to reduce the flow rate in SF 35? Tell it that the diameter of the incoming plastic is larger than it really is?
  8. I'm using Sprinter firmware, and Skeinforge 0035. I have the feed rate set at 120 mm/s, but I've also seen this at lower feed rates (80-100).
  9. Here are some example pictures of the problem I'm seeing: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/118766/Ultimaker/slip1.jpg http://dl.dropbox.com/u/118766/Ultimaker/slip2.jpg http://dl.dropbox.com/u/118766/Ultimaker/slip3.jpg From another google group post (I can't seem to find it at the moment) I remember hearing that this can be caused by: a) electrical interference in the stepper motors, or b) loose belts If these are the only two things, then I wish there were something else to blame, because I'm not sure how to go about fixing those. But maybe someone here knows a way to the solution. In the case of (a), how does one eliminate interference if the wires are already twisted nicely? How can one measure interference? I suppose I could remove them from the sheathes and dangle them all around the machine and see if things improve. In the case of (b), I can feel that the belts are possibly a little bit loose, but I can't see how to tighten them any more. The adjustment screws are already as tight as they will go. Am I missing anything? Thanks! Duane
