Went to the T-Rex exhibit here in leiden Holland, and this is an Impressive T-Rex, the most complete T-rex found. They made some 3D printed parts and castings from other T-rex skeletons to make it complete, and it is a beauty And what did I find at the end of the exhibit, an Ultimaker print farm of 9 Ultimakers, and this:

You could make the break parts yourself, just take the object en cut it into several parts, but still connected to the whole. Cura will see it as separate solid parts and print them as loose objects but connected a little bit with the material sticking to each other a little bit. just remember not to use combine A or B in the expert menu afterwards you can squeeze the parts and it will break into the parts. I usually do this for support, and place it against the surface but not added to it.

This a backwards feature and also costed me lot of material and time :(, especially if you, like me, print objects at the edge of the largest sizes possible to print. I can understand the developers want to dumb down the interface, but this is just a nasty auto feature, and it does need a click to continue popup to say it was auto-scaled for your "convenience" (I never saw the popup because it takes some time to load my large files, and I flip to other work until it is loaded)

Pronterface? I think Daid changed that 3-4 years ago. I was still an intern back then, so it's rather unfair to blame me for that don't you think? I'm guessing that you are referring to 15.06? If you read my posts from that time you can see that I was strongly opposed to releasing that. We already saw a very strong decline in USB printing when it was supported, so yeah it kinda makes sense to not support it. All I have to say about this is wait for 2.2. We have made 20+ changes based on user feedback. It's true that I don't always agree with people, but I find this a bit of an overstatement. It is not a response to you as a person, but as Team Ultimaker and Ultimaker in general, who else am I supposed to complain to

From one version to the next, you changed the printer interface to an unusable Pronterface interface, the we were told could be adjusted as long as you would know how to code. I NEVER got it to work properly or have the same kind of settings like the older version. and I now still use the older version just to print the G-code files. you decided it was too much effort to make it fully workable again in the newer versions because you were too "busy" building Cura from the ground up, you gave us a totally unusable "new" Cura that took years to get back to any sort of equal function from the old style Cura. I now still you say you are to "busy" to even bother to make a usable USB printing interface, because not many users would use it (why would that be ?) and if any body has complaints about the usability of Cura you just say, how dare you to complain about free software ! While I still find (old) Cura the best and easy to use slicing software, I hate the arrogant attitude of the developers.

Why are you telling this every time ? I have been printing nothing else then with USB, and never have trouble, I even print huge files, never ...have..any ..trouble ! When you removed the option in Cura, you always said there was no interest in USB printing. I know you removed the option from all UM2 and later printers, and that's the only reason why it won't work !

If you have been printing material that needs higher temps (250), you need to warm the hotend more, otherwise the material inside is not soft enough to screw the nozzle back in. I always leave the hotend at 220C when changing, never had problems

With that speed and layer height you might need to up the temp a bit, or lower the speed. the grinding could be caused that too much filament is pushed through before it can be heated properly.

That is quite some time to get to a final 3D object The David system is still a pretty hands on setup, it is partly because of that (and the higher price) that I chose the Einscan-S. But I've also seen vids that can make the David scanner make smaller and more detailed scans then the Einscan-S, and it's something I wish I could do I hope the next iteration of 3D scanners will have a better resolution for the same prices.

To get e better idea what is going wrong, please post some images of the failures. it might be totally unrelated to the frame

Can you tell a littlebit more about doing that particular scan, time to setup, making the scan and using the software to get to that result. I am particularity interested in the total time it takes to get to that final little puppet result ?

I also want to experiment with a 0.25 nozzle, can you tell anything about layer adhesion en printing times ? The detail looks really sharp

It's displayed in an insurance office lobby in London, They already had an older model of this type in Rotterdam, but they also wanted one for their new office. I don't know exactly what printer they used but it was one of the largest they had at Imaterialise.

Remember I have the Einscan -S, not the Einscan Pro the 700mm size is for freescan, and you can scan objects any size you want, but it will only scan 700mm per scan, and the software stitches these together to make the complete scan. you can move the object in front of the scanner, or move the scanner around the object. but you have to have the scanner on a tripod. Smaller scans are a bit tricky, as the scanner has a minimum distance to the objects, the camera's and projector are set for certain distances, and you can't move it closer then the minimum distance, or it won't calibrate. It projects a cross on the object (free scan) that you can use to make sure the scanner is close to the best distance from the object. here is a link to the hand of a Rancor model I scanned, on automatic scan on the turntable: https://www.youmagine.com/designs/rancor-hand-scan-b7dc0afd-1e71-496c-b26a-24205c8d0cc2 it's about 5cm high, and still 100MB after reduction

The main difference, apart from the price, is the ease of use, I must say I don't have recent hands on experience with the David scanner, but did buy the Einscan-s I did some research and saw that the David scanner does have more options for scanning, it does take some more work to setup for a specific object. The Einscan is very simple to use with the turntable, you can scan an object within minutes, or do a free scan for more complex objects, witch takes as long as you see fit to get all the details in hard do reach parts. the software is very easy and works great, the stitching is very good and automatic, or manual, if the software has trouble (it rarely does) The Einscan pro has even wider range of options, and I think is comparable with David system. But if you can't decide, make sure you can do a live demo, or watch user videos, to make up your mind. For me it was a price/usability purchase, while I don't mind to tinker, I hated the amount of work to work with the David system (some years ago), the Einscan one button (like Cura) scan option is just great I posted some scan results here http://3dprintboard.com/showthread.php?14104-Post-your-scans-here-!/page8 Also don't forget, the better resolution the scanner makes, the bigger your PC must be, to handle the enormous files

I like this idea, can you explain in a little it more detail what you did ? did you just use the "pause at height"and edited that plug in. I would really like to see a pause button, that stops the print and moves to the zero position and cools the head, and able to continue after that.

I can finally tell about a project i was part of http://www.3ders.org/articles/20160528-dutch-design-studio-3d-print-a-scaled-down-ship-replica-from-rotterdam.html This project involved 3D printing of a large scale VOC ship "De 7 Provinciën" The idea was to make a old ship model with modern techniques, and the whole hull and most of the details were printed as one large print. Because of time constraint I offered to help, and I painted the whole hull in 5 days, but was not able to get the last color wash done, so the colors of the details all looks a bit too bright Base paint with priming color for the oil paint After the oil paint is was applied, and some details colors painted. And the final result before it was picked up to have all the masts and sails and loose details added.

That would make it double nice if you win This is the kind of creativity I just love, people doing something totally genius

While my Ultimaker original, is not really original anymore I still like to show off This is a large scale print of a statue I 3D scanned and printed, and still is a work in progress. the total height is 60cm, and the largest printed part 38cm, the base is printed in 4 sections.
