  1. No need for all those strange and unknown beards, here is the real one! ๐Ÿ˜‰ haha yea that is a great memory @IRobertI. If all things fail, I can always become a lighthouse for the visually impaired ๐Ÿ˜‰ I also have no doubt Mariska will do great. With or without beard (but probably even better with.. ๐Ÿ˜›)
  2. Hi everyone, Allegedly all good things come to an end.. and right now that means I will be leaving Ultimaker and I will no longer be a link between this beautiful community and the Ultimaker organisation. I just checked.. and I created this account in 2012 (time flies) and in that time we've seen a lot. A lot of beautiful moments where we had the opportunity to help each other, celebrate innovation (Like Cura (plugins), a bunch of modifications to the Ultimaker Original, firmware mods from our own @tinkergnome, the beautiful and elegant magnetic toolchanger from @foehnsturm and much, much more discoveries and accomplishments. But I also had to navigate us through more difficult times, like Ultimaker 2 lead times and other hick-ups we encountered. But I did it all with great pleasure, even when you felt angry or upset. All in all, it was a beautiful, dynamic adventure where we started with a handful of people and today we share this forum with over 50.000 members. But it is also a start of something new! Obviously I wouldn't leave you alone and empty handed. The smart, energetic and talented @MariMakes will take over the community management hat from me! (....Well, officially from Thursday onwards.) Make sure to give her a warm welcome and continue this path of growth and discovery. I might not say this enough, but also a special shoutout to our team of amazing, dedicated, and tireless moderators, who we all owe so much. @gr5 @Smithy @IRobertI @Labern @DidierKlein @flowalistik We, 100%, wouldn't be where we are today without these guys. Ok, having said all that, I wish you all the best. Keep on innovating and make beautiful things! On Thursday I will create a different account for personal use. I will not continue to use this one so there can be no confusion about who to reach out to when you are looking for the one and only community manager! Peace!
  3. Hi @dsp, thank you bringing that up. While some of the biggest components (Metal filament and Cura 5) are already available, some key pieces are still missing that could make the whole journey a lot easier (as you are used from Ultimaker.) I don't know if you watched our Showcase in April? If so you may remember that near the end we said we're working on such a metal solution, and while I am probably not allowed to say when it will launch exactly, I can say it is soon (not tomorrow-soon though!). You indeed need print cores, proper adhesive and depending on what you wish to print you might need support material. And don't forget, you may know it already if you read up on the subject and I also see it in the guidelines you shared, your 3D printed part also requires debinding and sintering! Link to the metal segment of the Showcase in April:
  4. Hi @dsp, you should give it a try and let us know your experiences on the process and the results. But before you try I can already give you some more information to manage your expectations; One of the major limitations compared to plastic 3D printing is that for metal the maximum volume of a 3D printed part can not exceed 100x100x100mm. This has to do with the post processing steps and the fragility of the brown part. With a larger print the structural stability and correct compensation for shrinkage can not be guaranteed . With the developments in Cura 5(.1) we can guarantee tolerances on a sintered part below 0.4mm throughout the maximum volume of 100x100x100mm. Even more technical; internal porosity has been calculated to be between 3 and 4% (vs total volume). The grade of steel you can print with, that we will provide, is confirmed to be 17-4PH (which stands for 17% Chromium, 4% Nickel, and below 0.07% Carbon-Martensitic grade.) If you have any specific questions about your application and the use of metal for it feel free to reach out! Have a great day and looking forward hearing from you,
  5. Hi, perhaps due to previous grinding issues material that was already in your print core burned up because it didn't move anymore and you may need to clean your print core (or try a different one if you have it, if nothing else than for the sake of troubleshooting). It is also listed as one of the possible causes on the page it is referring to: There is a degraded / carbonized material in your print core. Clean the print core. Instructions on how to clean your print core you can find here Good luck!
  6. Hi @neute, thank you for your comment. Only a very small handful of people knew about this merger being in the air so it was a surprise for a lot of people. Some say they saw it coming, but I can tell you.. I wasn't one of them ๐Ÿ˜› And I agree, completely unthinkable several years ago. I imagine you can look at it from different angles, people are not out of place being sceptical but I think it is important to remember that at Ultimaker we have also gone through the growth and investment cycles and have always been able to safeguard our principles and values. And I like to think we will do again now. Proof being that NPM owns 56% of the shares. But.. we're not perfect, and MBI is no villain. It is a company with passionate engineers just like us. Without a doubt we can learn from each other and no one would have started this journey if we didn't believe we would make it out stronger on the other end.
  7. What a news that hit the newsstands today! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ "MakerBot and Ultimaker agree to merge to accelerate global adoption of additive manufacturing", so reads the title on our press page. Ultimaker investor NPM owning 54.4% and Stratasys 45.6% of the new entity. The merger between Ultimaker and Makerbot will continue under the Ultimaker brand. More details will be shared in the upcoming days, weeks and months. I'm curious to hear your thoughts. Questions and comments you can leave below and we'll do our best to answer and at the very least respond! The most solid information we have available for the moment is shared via our press release, you can read it here. Take care!
  8. Personally I'm very excited to share with you that we've been very busy preparing for the new Ultimaker showcase event that will be broadcasted tomorrow April 21st, at 4pm CEST / 10am EDT. When you join us you can discover first hand what the new Cura engine will be capable of and you can hear from some renowned users how they have experienced using it. Myself, and other Ultimaker experts will be in the chat to answer your questions! Another reason why I'm excited is because I've personally produced this showcase event, so if you are curious what else I'm up to nowadays, come check it out and say hi in the chat! It would mean a lot! Worried you might forget? Sign up here and we'll send you a notification before it starts! You are in total control of your own agenda and planning? Tune in or subscribe to our youtube channel to join the premiere tomorrow live! The premiere is already listed.. See you there!!

  10. Hi, I did say that, that's true. Unfortunately our material experts couldn't tell with certainty if that would give you a good deprime or not. Sometimes they have a good estimation of this, but unfortunately not with this spool. Doesn't mean it won't, but they didn't know. So you could give it a try, but I would recommend to stay around your Ultimaker so you can interfere if it doesn't go as intended. As with regard to completing the profile, we have also passed on this request to igus, and it is up to them to update the profile. As @Dim3nsioneer says, you could also request the same from igus directly if you feel to invest a little bit more energy into this request. But don't feel obliged, because we also have. Hope this helps, have a great day!
  15. Hi, thank you for your message. As you can see on this material page it says it is not compatible with the Material Station. This might be because it doesn't have the start sequence in the profile that is necessary for the material station. I believe it is possible to work around this, no promises though. Like you might get away by saying it is iGus I150 instead. Let me check!
  16. Hi @3DRocketry, where are you located? Nothing happened to it, so you just need to find the right shop. I've checked a few of our resellers, and those all have it in stock.
  17. Hi @munsee, have you checked out our e-learning platform that also contains the unboxing and setting up of your Pro Bundle? If you haven't yet, check it out here! Oh, I realise now that you probably mean on the setup wizard on the printer. Then @UlrichC-DE is right. In any case, still worth to check out some courses if you are just embarking on your 3D printing journey!

Hi @ppm1951, for now I'll move your post to the German subsection of our forum. If you would like to leave your feedback, please write it in English. Thank you!
  19. Thanks guys!! Here is to you, creativity, kindness, inspiration and innovation ๐Ÿป I hope you all enjoyed your holidays! I had a few days off around the holidays so I didn't check the forum much, hence my later response. Take care and have an amazing day.

    Firmware 7.0

Ultimaker is proud to announce the release of firmware 7.0 for the Ultimaker S3, Ultimaker S5, and Ultimaker S5 Pro Bundle. With it, you will enjoy a renewed UI โ€“ with improved status information, print controls, and notifications โ€“ that enables you to print with better control, more confidence, and improved efficiency. So what are some of the improvements? Well, it is quite the list! Status bar. A new top status bar in your Ultimaker display will always show important printer information, no matter where you are in the interface. This is an especially exciting update, as you can now directly see if youโ€™re connected to the Wi-Fi or Ethernet, and Ultimaker Digital Factory โ€“ and if a firewall is enabled. You can also view a printerโ€™s name and are notified with its build plate is hot. Print job status. The main menuโ€™s โ€˜Statusโ€™ icon shows your current print jobโ€™s status and progress from anywhere on the menu. For print status, the following notifications may appear: โ€ข Print finished (green check mark icon) โ€ข Print aborted (red โ€˜abortโ€™ icon) โ€ข Paused (white โ€˜pauseโ€™ icon) โ€ข Preparing/resuming (orange progress circle) โ€ข Finishing print (white progress circle) Configuration overview. In the configuration menu of the Ultimaker S5 Pro Bundle, the interface now clearly indicates when materials require your attention. Non-urgent items will turn yellow. Urgent items โ€“ if your filament has run out, for instance โ€“ will turn red. Additionally, the UI now clearly indicates when a print core is missing โ€“ for both standalone printers and those using the Ultimaker S5 Material Station. This is especially helpful for alerting you or other users that two print cores are needed for dual extrusion print jobs. Printer task notification. You will now receive notifications for printer tasks that require attention. Printer tasks are maintenance items that need to be performed on your printer, such as changing the filter in the Ultimaker S5 Air Manager. Printer task notifications are shown through the main menuโ€™s โ€˜Preferencesโ€™ icon and are now also clearly visible in the Preferences menu. There, the following is shown: โ€ข No tasks (green checkmark) โ€ข Non-urgent printer tasks (yellow exclamation mark) โ€ข Urgent printer tasks (red exclamation mark) ..And much more! You can read more about it in our release notes and in our blog. You can find the instructions and corresponding firmware via this link, but when you are connected to the internet, and set your configuration to latest firmware your Ultimaker should also notify you about a new version! Enjoy, and we're looking forward to hear from you in the comments!
  21. Hello, you may want to add some pictures and a more detailed description if you are looking for some interested parties. Good luck!
  22. It looks pretty great, but I am absolutely clueless about your costume ๐Ÿ˜„ ๐Ÿค” ๐Ÿคจ
  23. Hi @subnoizellc, thank you for the tip of also pushing filament backwards, I'll share it with the product experts. Can you elaborate on why the 'standard' procedure didn't work? Regarding wet and over-dry filaments; the material station shouldn't be able to 'over-dry' your PVA. It should have a relative humidity of 20-30%. This means it allows for a little bit of humidity, enough for your PVA to stay in decent condition. It is possible that if there has been a lot of significant changes in humidity for longer than one day that this can effect the quality of your filament. Because due to humidity it will swell up, and then when it gets dry again it shrinks, etc. This can result in brittleness. But no worries! This can be restored. Warming it up for a short moment until 50ยบC it will relax again. Don't get it over 60ยบC, because then it will become more brittle again. I was wondering when you bought your Ultimaker Pro Bundle (assuming you didn't buy an UMS5 and Material Station) and if you have replaced the feeder since? We have updated the feeders some time ago, and you might be eligible to replace them and improve your success rate with printing PVA. You can find more information here. Hope this helps!
  24. Hi @rose1234, which firmware version are you currently on, and to which firmware version are you looking to update?
  25. Hello, while some courses get unlocked with certain software plans like Ultimaker Professional and Ultimaker Excellence, the onboarding courses are free when you have an Ultimaker account. More info about it here. Why is there no course for the Ultimaker 3? Given the resources it costs to develop these courses we have decided to focus on our newest product line first (S-line). Also knowing that good resources already exist for the Ultimaker 3, as you can find on these pages. Hope this helps, and if you have any questions during your onboarding, feel free to ask. We're here to help!
