  1. Hi,

Coming Monday 4th of November 2013 is our next Ulti-evening in Protospace (Utrecht, The Netherlands) and we have three exciting talks lined up.

    Talks:

    1. Erik Swetter, of 3D Hologrammen, will tell about his business and the great stuff he is making and selling at his store.

    2. Martijn Elserman, co-founder Ultimaker, will bring an Ultimaker² with him and talk about this new shiny piece of technology.

    3. Ewoud Van Munster, 'What if you don't use one printing nozzle at the time, but 9 simultaneously..' Curious? Listen to the ideas and see a live demo.

  2. Hi Naz,

Inside the black wrapper just above the printhead are 3 connection points. You could check if those are all still properly attached. You could also check if the connection at the electronics are still connected.

On another note, I have a hard time identifying the part you took a photo of.

Can you make a picture with a wider angle?

  3. Hi Naz72,

    Thank you for your post.

This will be immediately sent to our production department as feedback and I will make sure no printer leaves our building in this condition. It is unacceptable.

We have an extra quality check before the Ultimaker² is being shipped. I consider this a human error given the fact it slipped through. Perhaps it should be tighter so this will be ruled out in the future.

Our apologies for this inconvenience. I hope you understand this is not how we intend to ship out Ultimaker's.

I will contact you in a direct message so we can find an appropriate solution. If you want we can sent you a new Ultimaker².

  4. also in regard of the SD card vd usb connection.

Printing via a SD card is much more stable. With an USB connection users often experience difficulties like occupied USB ports, ports going into sleep mode, computer going into sleep more, crashing/lagging due other programs. SD card is plain simple. copy paste your files on an SD card from your comfortable couch, and stick this card fully loaded with awesome prints in your Ultimaker and you are good to go for days!

  5. You probably refer to the left ear.. that becomes a little bit less perfect with a not perfect dialed in fanduct calibration and when we crank up the speed to 200%..

But that is something I consider collateral damage if it means we can print twice the amount robots in the same time and we can make twice as many people happy with this awesome robot :D

Half decent is still pretty good, as GR5 says ;)

  6. I saw both ultimaker and makerbot at the tct show in birmingham. Needing an abs cabable printer i was hoping to see the replicator 2x in action but it was not on display for some reason. So seeing all those ultimakers bouncing around on the print wall and still managing to print a half decent mini robot and the ultimaker2 printing an adjustable spanner before my eyes i went for the ultimaker2. I had ordered a qu-bd rxl but as of yet i still would have not recieved it and if i continued with the order, the odds seem to sugest it would not arrive in one piece. So as Ultimaker have started to ship when they said they would and as long as it arrives in one piece. Then i more than happy with my order experience.

.. how do you mean half a decent mini robot :p

  7. @ Peter; I will look into that ticket. Thank you. We try to ship everything in the order of ordering (+payment).

Obviously, our UK sales partners also collected orders. They would be pretty bad sales partners if they didn't.

And just like all of you guys, they also receive their orders in the appropriate order. There is no point in having sales partners if you are going to disadvantage them by supplying them last in line. Hopefully you can find the strength to have some more patience until the wonderful Ultimaker² arrives. I see you are pretty far up in the leadtime list, so it shouldn't be long.

@ Keith, I will sent you your ordernumber in a direct message. Our apologies for any inconvenience.

Have you also contacted our sales team?

  8. We actually did ship some today again, but not as much as yesterday.

I understand the need for more insight in shipping dates and we are working on enabling this.

For me personally it is a lot of manual searching to get information on this subject, and I understand a clear report is being made that should give me all the data I need at the blink of an eye :)

Hopefully this week I will be able to give you all some more info.

    Thank you!

  10. Hi Marco,

Thank you for your post. I am very sorry to hear you are experiencing this level of frustration.

We do our very best to answer everyone on time, but the release of the Ultimaker² and the new website created an amount of feedback that on occasion left our department overwhelmed.

I will contact you in a personal message for more details, so I can look up your order and get things sorted out.

If you have any further questions, please let me know.

  11. The Ultimaker² is being prepared for its first trip outside into the big world. I am sure it will be happily received by a lot of eager users. To make sure the experience is living up to the quality the Ultimaker² can deliver, we are accompanying the new machine with a new, up to date firmware and new version of Cura 13-10.

Cura has some new features like:

    • It is compatible for Ultimaker²

    • Easy switching between different machine configurations. Do you have both an Ultimaker-Original and Ultimaker²? No problem, you can switch directly via a drop down menu.

    • New support material method, the new method is quicker to print, easier to remove and uses less material.

    • Easy sharing on YouMagine with the YouMagine upload button

    • Better usage of support material with a dual-extrusion machine

    • Various bugfixes and tweaks

    You can download Cura here.

    Enjoy!!

  12. As gr5 says, in the Ultimaker² are a lot of improved components. We intended to make it as userfriendly and reliable as possible. This means less issues, and less calibration.

When the Ultimaker² is build and all components are at its place it is almost ready to use.

There still is the bed levelling, but we have been working hard to make a very user friendly interface that helps you level the bed. With the heated bed and new Z-stage the bed is much more stable and you don't need to relevel it every other couple of prints.

The assembly is done by experienced builders and we always have a thorough quality check before it is being processed.

  13. In the news-carousel 1 item is dedicated to the new blog, so you can keep an eye out for that one.

About the new tab, personally I find that very convenient. I usually hate it when everything opens in the same tab because sometime I just want to take a peek or quick browse and I don't want to click 'Back' 8 times to return to my original page. Now you can just close this tab. Or the other one. :)

  14. Dag Maurice,
