  1. Hi George,

great print! I like both the style and quality.

@ Ian: Print time was for both just under 10 hours, like 8-10 hours.

Printed at 80 micron, dual fans.

    I am not a hasty guy, so i usually print at 45mm/s - 50mm/s.

Both printed without support, approx 10% infill.

  2. Big statue li-ben-ty!

I also made these 2 prints a couple of days ago.

They are printed with dual extrusion set up, personally i think this is proof that the D.E. set up does not negatively effect your print quality.

I like it how even after 2 years (and working at Ultimaker), sometimes the quality still impresses you.

  3. And in regard to Maker Faire NY, Tommes, Marrit and myself will be going to represent the Ultimaker team at the booths (both 3D print village and MakerShed).

Martijn and Erik will also go, but they will also walk around on the Faire (but probably also be at the booth every now and then..)

We will also be accompanied by Luis, GR5 and iIluminarti.

    Looking forward meeting everyone! :)

  4. I always have my filament lying around in my room, some in bags, some just out in the open.

Never experienced any noticeable problems with the filament, and they usually lie around for a couple of months..

We chose the Silver color because it has a nice look when the print is done and we all found it to work quite consistant.

Therefore i am surprised to hear that quite a few people have been experiencing difficulties with this specific color.

Those who have had trouble, did they switch to another color Ultimaker PLA and found improvement, or to a different supplier?

For some reason, i always find white to be a difficult color to print..

  5. But if you look at the size of the tape compared to the size of the print, i think the deviation in height in the skirt is not due to an offset of the build platform. The print is rather small, so the offset would be less noticeable.

Also, if the tape is going in X, the skirt indicates the bed is too high and front AND back, and not in the middle (Left/Right), which is odd.

Now that i look at it again.. i think we are being fooled by the sharp shadow and the skirt is the same all around ;)

  6. Hi MSU,

Yes, all pcb boards are being checked on quality before they leave.

Every single one of them. However, from experience i have learned this doesn't mean nothing ever goes wrong.

Like you said shipping, a human mistake or an unstable power net can still cause damage to the pcb.

I did not fully understand Martin's post about the end stop. Are you saying the end stop is being pressed during an actual print job, but it does not interfere with the printhead's path?

Are you sure you connected the end stop at the correct header on the pcb? Perhaps the Y end stop is connected to the X header, or the other way around. Please double check the wires.

Looking forward hearing about your findings,

  7. Hi Martin,

I would advise to skip this test in the first run wizard.

Sometimes it is buggy and therefore give you wrong information.

Most likely your end stop is working just fine.

I would advice to start a print, and manually press the end stop to see if it interferes with the movement of your printhead.

Or you can just start a print and finish it, and share your results with us!

  8. I had some issues with regulating the temperature at that point, since i have dual fans and at the first attempts they blew my print away (they were cooling way too hard!) so maybe that still reflects on this print.

I don't think it is my feeder, i would go for temperature.

I found the model on th-somethingsomething-rse. Don't know if it is uploaded in YouMagine.

Unfortunately, i can't make that decision for everyone

  9. Ok, i have one for you Ian.

    Dual Color Globe

It was my like, 3rd dual color print i made about 2 weeks ago.

I was pretty satisfied with the quality. Except for the bottom i hardly had to clean up anything.

A few 'worms' on one side, but they were easily removed.

  10. I assume you don't have an UltiController?

When the Ultimaker reads a communication error during the first run wizard, this can also indicate that

there is a temperature error. Do you have any temperature difficulties?

Have you also tried different computers/laptops?

Could it be that there is a general setting on your computer putting your USB ports into sleepmode after a while?

In any case, i can recommend looking into an UltiController, besides avoiding the difficulties a connection with a computer can have, it brings along much more benefits.

  11. I agree, like most of the settings you chose for your Ultimaker, rarely one of them stands alone.

Most of the values are effected by another setting. Like speed-print temperature, etc.

Just as the calibration of your Nozzle-bed level.

It depends on what your first layer is.

  12. from the black signal cable come 3 cables/headers.

Female Blue Purple > For your hot end fan.

Male Red/Yellow/Black > people usually use this one to connect to your thermocouple transmitter (as shown on your picture. A proper connection will active the blue Led when your UM is turned on).

Male Green/Orange/Brown > This one usually is saved for dual extrusion, unless the other one (R/Y/B) gets damaged.

The G/O/B and R/Y/B share the same function, in any case make sure to plug the same cable (G/O/B or R/Y/B) in your electronics AND in your thermocouple transmitter.

    Good luck!
