  1. If your Ultimaker S5 is connected to the internet it can check if there is a new firmware version is available. Whether or not you are on the latest version, should never result in a lagging installation. Could you try to install the new firmware again? Is your Ultimaker S5 on all the time, or do you also turn it off occasionally?
  2. Hi @Shadowman, by rebooting your Ultimaker S5 you should be able to turn off the lights again. What you describe sounds like a bug in the firmware, and I understand this has been solved in the next firmware release.

I suppose it is an isolated error message? @rodparsons , this sounds like an issue with your power supply. Which firmware did you use before? This new Cura release (3.5) did not contain a firmware update for the Ultimaker 3. What temperature are you heating your bed up to, and can you heat up your bed to 60ºC and 100ºC without starting a print (so leave print cores cold)? What happens then?

Thank you for your response. 50 micron is really accurate, it may depend on the material which you are planning on using if that is possible but that might be difficult to consistently achieve that. Some materials have more shrinkage than others. In general, a safe margin between 200 and 500 microns should be realistic. So it seems you are doing a pretty good job in your X and Y dimensions! Have you also tried to print something else than a cube, perhaps a barrel with a certain diameter? So if I understand it correctly, you're happy with X and Y but you want to optimize Z. But you have also printed most of your objects with 200 microns layer hight right? On your post from Sunday you noticed that 0.2 gives a larger offset than 0.1mm. Is this higher resolution a route to go?

  7. Hi Gio, thank you for sharing your measurements. You don't annoy anyone I think, don't worry about it ? I read through the post, but I don't I found where you said which accuracy you are looking for. Do you have a goal of (for example) a deviation of 100 micron, or 200 micron is acceptable or will you only satisfied with 100% accuracy? Can you share what you want to use your 3D prints for? Thank you!
  8. Hi @GigaWaTT , welcome to our forums! Happy to hear you are considering getting an Ultimaker. For starters, I think both Ultimaker 3 and Ultimaker S5 should be able to do a great job printing such organic models as the image you have attached. Especially with PVA supports you shouldn't need to worry about overhangs or bridges anymore both can print at a good enough resolution to smooth out any curves. (like 60 micron). Regarding which is better choice for you, a clear indicator of course is build volume. Do you need the larger size? In that case the Ultimaker S5 is the obvious choice. If you don't really, the Ultimaker 3 could be a good choice either (although generally a lot of people are also tempted by 'what if'). The flow sensor, active leveling and touch screen add quite some added value to the Ultimaker S5 in terms of reliability and user experience. The touch screen is more than just a larger interface, it can also show visual guidelines when you need to execute certain maintenance tasks for example. Overall, both are great machines and I don't think you can make a wrong decision here. Are there any other specifics that you want which might steer you into a clear direction?

  11. No problem, let's hope we can get to the bottom of this ? Can you connect to the network if you manually fill in the network ID (SSID) instead of selecting it from the list? And I was wondering if you could send a photo of the network selection list setup. You can do it via DM if you prefer. Thank you!
  12. My forum post and the blog are usually based on release notes from Jira tickets etc. What I understand is that by dropping the .curaproject extension, and replacing it by 3mf the project files are compatible with more 3D software applications, and it got rid of that bug.

  16. Ultimaker Cura 3.5 is ready and its waiting for you! It comes with new features, bug fixes and UX improvements. As always you can download it for free from our website, whether you run Windows, MacOS or Linux. So what does Ultimaker Cura 3.5 have in stock for you? A few of the highlights: Prime tower reliability The prime tower has been subjective to quite some changes and improvements over the last period of time. We strive to make it as space and time efficient as possible while also making it more reliable (i.e., less prone to tipping over). In our latest improvement, a prime tower has 2 sets of walls. The outer wall which is printed by extruder 1 which functions as a purge bin for extruder 2. This makes the prime tower more reliable because there is less layer bonding between different materials. Improved overhang wall processing When overhang walls are detected, they're printed with varying speed and perimeters will not start on an overhang wall. This should result in higher quality overhang surfaces. Material preferences When you often use a similar set of materials, you can now set them as favorites and save yourself some time! They can be quickly accessed in the material selection. Custom support. Inspired by, and similar to the support blocker you can now also create custom support with Ultimaker Cura 3.5.   17. Thank you! That's been helpful. Question for you: Do you know if your network uses 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz? The Ultimaker S5 is only compatible with 2.4 GHz.

  19. It doesn't seem like I can unzip the folder, so I didn't see the video myself but perhaps a single drop of sewing machine oil could help reduce the squeak?
  20. ah sorry, missed that one. An Ultimaker 3 should recognize the print core CC, however the machine will also prompt you a message that says it is not compatible. But you can overrule it. Cura may also give you a warning which you probably have to bypass. A question for you guys; what do you want to use the print core for? Is there a specific material with certain properties you want to print with? What type of things / application do you need it for?

  22. Hi @Shadowman, just like @P3D I was thinking perhaps this can have something to do with the outside surface of your nozzles. Do you keep the clean, or do you ever check if there is any residue? It could be that there is a little blob of filament which is in the way, and the second time it is either softer due to heat or flattened due to the first pressure. 4 & 5 seem to be solved then it seems? Re 5; just use the wipe tower ? Due to the inner geometry of the print core BB PVA oozes more. So a wipe tower for PVA would be a good idea. Re cleaning your nozzles, I always just used a regular paper towel when the nozzle was warm. This works when you don't let it carbonize for too long and it can be relatively easily be wiped off. (watch your fingers though when the nozzle is hot).
  23. Hi @BealsStudios, did these tips help resolve your issue? It's not easy to see on the video, but I would also like to add to this list of tips that it is a good idea to keep the outsides of your nozzles clean. Looking forward hearing from you!
  24. Hi @Shadowman, 1: I'll have to get back with you on this one. I'm not an expert on this field either, and I know we were working on some improvements on this regard so I have to check where we stand on that. 2: Can you give some more information about the steps before this happened? Are you saying when you aborted your print, you got this message? 4: Sounds like a false warning, perhaps the system was confused for a second. I think it didn't happen again? 5: Is the print not looking nice after you have removed the PVA, or is the PVA support itself not looking nice? Thank you!
