  1. OK, so I have the belts "singing" just like the video now. But I am still getting ovals. Two different size circles I get: 20.20mm x 19.77mm 8.03mm x 7.73mm So is there anyway to enter calibration data in Cura? Or any other suggestions?
  2. Hi Daid! Yes, I am sure it was a clog. It did grind the filament, and could no longer feed it, but I was not able to manually push the filament in. Well actually, the first grind I was able to force it in manually and ran enough through to be sure it was flowing again. But then a very short print later I had another grind, repeated and then another grind very shortly after. The third time I could no longer force the tube no matter how hard I tried. That is when I decided to open it. In the brass tube there was plastic with a indentation where I was trying to force the filament. It was clearly a plug when I heated it up and pulled it out. How much hotter should I try, 5c? 10c? Is there any rule of thumb?
  3. I was having a bunch of clogs between the Bowden tube and brass, but I finally got that fixed. The key was to keep the Bowden a little bit longer than the PTFE so that there was always pressure on it. But I just got a clog, expecting it was the same as before, but there is no plastic between the brass and PTFE, it is clean. I am extruding at 210. I recently bumped the speed up to 100 mm/s. I didn't have any issues when I was at 80 mm/s. So I am wondering why it might have clogged. Do you think it might need to be hotter now that it is running faster? Before when I was experimenting (at say 60 mm/s) if I printed at 220 I got worse quality prints compared to 210, and I had bad warping that seems to be alleviated when printing at 210. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
  4. I am attempting to print pieces for a new and improved extruder, but I am getting ovals instead of circles on critical pieces. I assume it is because the belts are not exactly the same tension. I understand that I cannot input calibration factors for the XYZ axises in Cura. So how does everyone else get the much sought after circles? Thanks!
  5. P.S. Wouldn't the belt tightness make slight differences in calibration? Since there are a number tracks per inch, the more the belt is stretched, the more it would move per tooth, correct? If that is the case, then it would be nice to be able to enter both a shrink factor and a calibration factor...
  6. That makes good sense, and I had a hunch about shrinkage. I guess it would be really nice to be able to enter a shrinkage factor somewhere in the configuration then. Glad to hear about ditching RepG! Long live Cura!
  7. Thanks Daid! I am using Cura - love it! They should just abandon ReplicatorG (on the Mac at least). It literally saved my life - I was going crazy trying to get my first print with ReplicatorG! One of the main features I am dying for is just a button to run the extrude motor. I have been dealing with clogs (way too much for my liking) so I have to do a lot of manual spinning the gear. It would also be helpful for testing the extruder Seems like it would be a piece of cake to add. One other thing, I calibrated my Ultimaker, and it seems it is off about 1% in the XYZ. I don't see anywhere to enter calibration data for Cura anywhere. So in the meantime I just set scale to 1.01, but it would be nice to have this in a configration file so I can use scale more the way I expect it is meant to be used... Anyways, thanks a million, you rock!
  8. I struggled for literally days trying every setting possible to get my first layer to stick. I looked at the Ultimaker Wiki and they pretty much just state to check the temperature and make sure the table is the right distance and level. I am sure that is good advice, but that is not why my first layer wasn't sticking. I just had to clean my tape with some rubbing alcohol and a paper towel. Now the only problem is it sticks *too* good! Anyways, I am posting this to hopefully help others, and hopefully someone adds this to the Ultimaker help. It would have saved me countless hours of frustration!
  9. chrili_rakete: can you please give us an update? Did it ever fail? Is it still in service?
  10. Sounds like you have a plugged hot end. Have you opened it up to take a look?
