  1. Hello, I have been working on trying to print thin walled (4.5mm) cups. The problem I have been having is getting the inside of the cup just as smooth as the outside of the cup. I had previously been using Cura RC4 and was struggling. I turned on dwindle and that help considerably, however, I could never get my machine to retract no matter the settings I entered. So I decided to retry with the newest software, however, there is no longer dwindle and I can not get retract to fully clean up my prints. The problem seems to be when it traverses (no extrusion) it cuts the corner on the inside allowing the string to overhang the inside of the cup making it rough. I didn't know if someone has figured out decent settings for parts of this nature or not. Current settings: LH-.2 WT-1.6 T/B Thickness-.8mm Fill 25% Print speed-60mm/s Temp-205C Retraction (everywhere) Min Travel 5.0mm Speed- 50mm/s Distance-3mm/s Extra Len.-0.0 I just can't get it to stay clean no matter what I do. Perhaps I am missing something. If there is someway to just change the traverse to not get so close to the edge of the part that would fix all my problems, plus it would allow me to shut retract off. Which would be a massive bonus. It would print so much faster. I have done several similarly shaped prints and all of them have the same problem. So if this can be fixed I would be hugely interested. Any input would be helpful. In the interim I am going to keep trying things. Happy Holidays to everyone!
  2. I did a print at 1.6 WT and it seemed good. I will use 1.20001 if I want 3 laps around the inside and outside. Thanks!
  3. Hello, I have been printing off and on since I bought my UM. I have recently (about 3 days ago) updated to CURA 12.11. I had been using a much older version and was having issues with the wall thickness. If I put .8mm wall thickness (2 laps with a .4mm nozzle size) everything would print fine. If I enter 1.2mm, it over extrudes constantly on the entire print. Even when you hit print the stats shows that it is going to use considerably more material. So I updated to 12.11 and the problem is still there. I could not find if this is something other people have had issue with or not. I sliced several models and all of them over extrude with the 1.2mm wall thickness. On print I am working on at the moment this is what the different wall thicknesses output. Now, the ONLY box I changed was the wall thicnkess between the 3 outputs: .8mm WT- 5.84m 50.17g 2:51 Print time 1.2mm WT- 9.91m 85.08g 3:11 Print time 1.6mm WT- 7.65m 65.70g 3:40 Print time The print time bumps up reasonable amounts each time, and .8 to 1.6 WT seems to be reasonable (I am going to try and print at 1.6mm WT right now). But 1.2mm WT is obviously way out of line. Please let me know if this is something I am doing, or if this is an issue with the software that needs to be fixed. Thanks! Settings: .2mm LH .8 WT E Steps 865 Fill 25% B/T Thickness-1mm 2.90 Filament dia (prints well at .8mm WT, going to try this with 1.6mm WT) PD- 1.00 Nozzle size- .4mm
