Just to bounce back to the original question in this thread - I use positioning all the time, so I decided to stretch my Python chops and provide a plugin to shift the model in X / Y / Z. Just put it up on Git, you can find it [url = https://github.com/daid/Cura/pull/314/files ]here[/url] and save it directly into your Cura plugins directory.
