  1. I am happy to adapt my EasyE3D mount for E3D v6: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:145988,%20will%20do%20that%20soon.%20Having%20one%20at%20hand%20would%20definitely%20be%20hepful%20if%20available., will do that soon. Having one at hand would definitely be hepful if available.
  2. I am able to confirm that E3D has worked for me without problems with both PLA and ABS for 1000+ hours without significant problems. My retraction settings using Cura: PLA 1.75mm filament, 215deg, 30mm/s retract, 3mm distance ABS 1.75mm filament, 235deg, 40mm/s retract, 5.5mm distance
  3. This problem is caused by a faulty heater, because it has a short circuit to the outer shield and in turn to the heater block and thus thermocouple. The only option is to replace it. Hack fix would be to insulate the heater or thermocouple with some kapton, however it is not recommended.
  4. Here is one option in europe: http://www.planet-cnc.com/index.php?page=shop&shop=parts
  5. The idea for controlling the fan in bridging is definitely useful, however as Daid said difficult to implement. I am proposing a compromise, that should hopefully not add too much complexity to the system. Fan is controlled per layer, so would it be possible to create a plugin that sets the fan to a predefined value on layers containing bridges/overhangs. Cura can visualize these overhangs, so the mechanism to detect them is already present. I have successfully used cooling on overhang layers by manually adding the fan control in gcode, so I believe the approach works.
  6. Hey folks, I would like to introduce the derivative of Ultimaker original we have made in Drustvo elektronikov slovenije (hobby electronics society) as a members project. While Ultimaker original is great, we can not help ourselves to hack anything we get our hands on and have thus created a derivative of it for a bunch of members to build. Main differences to Ultimaker Original are: - Improved enclosure design, allowing for easy heated chamber upgrade. The enclosure has been enlarged to house the bowden above print head, so only flat plexy pieces are needed to enclose it. - Added support to mount two extruders and reels for dual-print configuration. - Electronics mounted in the front panel directly - The print bead has been modified to use 3-point leveling - Enclosure includes mounting holes for short belt tensioner modification, Z switch adjustment modification. - Bottom side mounting holes for different power supplies, stepper drivers. - Enclosure mounted mains IEC socket with a built in fuse and switch. - Mounting holes for cables. - Fully stackable design Sources and documentation is available on the following link: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:263814 I would like to use this opportunity to thank the Ultimaker team for their great designs, contribution to the open-source community and inspiring a lot of us to play with 3D printers. Cura is getting better and better by the version and here I am suggesting a way for donating funds for development is established, for the ones using it with other then Ultimaker printers. Maybe there could be a store item "Contribute to Cura development."
  7. I am happy to announce the new generation of my EasyE3DMount, http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:145988%20Feel%20free%20to%20test%20it%20and%20send%20me%20comments.%20The%20biggest%20difference%20is%20the%20fan%20mounting,%20which%20is%20purely%20magnetic%20now%20with%20spring%20loaded%20contacts,%20so%20swapping%20fan%20or%20other%20attachments%20is%20super%20easy,%20usefull%20if%20you%20do%20mostly%20ABS. E3D works really well for me on several printers with PLA, ABS and also Laywood (only 0.6mm nozzle though!). Thanks Sanjay for providing great support!
  8. am001 and others, could you please share what retraction speed, distance, and minimal layer time work for you with E3D for ABS? I am seeing some "wrinkling" on parts of the print where there are small patches between which teh printer jumps and the print is thus extrusion intensive. My current experiments went through retraction speed/distance combinations 40/2, 20/2, 20/4.5, 30/4.5, 20/1 without any significant differences betwee them at print speed 60mm/s. Ideas would be welcome.
  9. Cool, this is for E3D not originally designed for bowden. In the other version the push-fit screws directly in the heatsink.
  10. Hi all, I am using a home built ultimaker with E3D print head, using ABS from reprap.cc printing at 230deg with 10% infill and 2mm walls. All the objects I am printing appear to have the following problem: Surface finish is significantly degraded, some small gaps and blobs appear, when the object does not have a continuous circumference on the layer. As you can see on the very simple object shown in pictures, first 10mm of the object have a very nice finish, because the base is a solid rectangle, with a gap in one side when higher then 10mm. Having such a gap causes the beforementioned problem. This is consistent with the geometry properties, is not random and appears with different spools of material. Any ideas how to solve it?
  11. Unfortunately I had no luck with Titan and SCAD, just couldnt get to compile it. I have seen some mentions on the forum of the injection mold block stl being released on YouMagine, couldnt find it though.
  12. Hi, I would like to congratulate the Ultimaker team for this very nice and new 3d printer, looking very awesome. Following up on the "Just like the Original the Ultimaker 2 will remain open source.", could you please point me towards these plans. At the moment I am particularly interested in slider blocks design, to figure out if they can be printed in 3D. I am jsut about to order some mechanical aprts and would be nice to plan for longer X,Y 6mm rods if feasible. All the best with the upcoming presentation!
  13. Hey folks, I have taken Nick's design for the E3D mount and made it more easy to print with nice large surfaces for the part to sit on. A bit more bulky but much simpler to print with minimised overhangs. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:145988
  14. Any thoughts how to go about calibrating the extruder drive?
  15. Hi, I am unable to find out what microstepping is used for which axis by default and what settings to use for direct drive 1.75mm extruder (airtripper v3). My guess is x and y are 1/16 and z is 1/8. No idea what the default for ultimaker extruder is. Can someone advise please? Regards,
  16. Thank you for the reply, we will use that as a base then. Can anyone advise me regarding sourcing parts for the hot-end assembly from Ultimaker directly?
  17. Thank you for your reply, these indeed are up-to date, any thoughts if the 3D drawings used to produce these drawings are available as well?
  18. Dear Ultimakers, I have been using the Ultimaker in a hackspace for a few times and really keen on building one with a few friends. As we have sufficient knowledge, we would like to make some modifications at the start and work our way towards an upgraded Ultimaker. Unfortunately I was unable to find any updated 3D drawings of Ultimaker on Thingiverse or elsewhere, only the original design. There have been some really good modifications which would be nice to build upon and having up-to date files would be rather useful. Can anyone please point me in the direction where an up-to-date 3D drawing of Ultimaker is available, if anywhere. Furthermore, for building and upgrading the design we have most of the parts available, however most of the hot-end parts are very specific and would be keen on using the original parts. They do not appear to be directly available in the web shop, thus I am asking for advice how to go about getting the parts. Is this somewhare Ultimaker Shop would be a suitable place or alternatively (not that keen on it) any other suppliers. Looking forward for advice from you guys!
