Hi and welcome to the forums.
There is no difference. The board is not part of the extrusion upgrade kit so depending on the age of an UM2 upgraded to an UM2+ there might be slight differences between the boards. I have an upgraded UM2+ and it prints extremely well.

The reason I am asking is because the print seems to recover further up. D you use the latest Cura version and is TPLA and the right print core selected in Cura? If so, I'd advise to use on of the provided printing profiles ("normal" or "fast" in this case).
-
Ok another idea would be to print a narrow but tall single extrusion object in TPLA to rule out any interference from PVA.
You said that the BB 0.4 core has been replaced. Was TPLA printed with an AA core and PVA with a BB core?

Hi Chris and welcome to the forums.
It looks like the nozzle with TPLA had some form of under extrusion in between and then PVA(?) got stuck in between because of oozing. If that's the case, make sure to check that the TPLA spool can unspool correctly and that your nozzle (or print core) is clean.
Which printer do you use? Which filament brand is it?

Hi,
just rename the file to .zip and unpack it. There might be another way to open it but I don't know about it.

Hi,
the version string is just part of the meta data. I don't know if this is internally used to track changes but I would assume that it is expected to bump up this number when you submit a new plugin update.
As for resources for scripts and plugins I guess the starting point would be here:
https://github.com/Ultimaker/Cura/wiki/Plugin-Directory
And the wiki:

Hi,
have you tried attaching a working front fan door (with the circuit board) to the printer with the seemingly faulty board? This way you could rule out the circuit board on the fan door.
-
Ok, I wanted to see if the outer wall is sloped or if there are any ridges on the surface. The model looks good though.
I still think it is a printer problem. If it came out right the first time and assuming that you haven't changed the .gcode file, then it must be something related to the printer.
I am not familiar with the i3 but if you have the equipment to do so, it might be a good idea to create a narrow but tall test object and print it. Then either watch the printer or record it to see if there are any suspicious movements or sounds when the problem occurs.

Hi and welcome to the forums.
This looks to me like a printer/filament problem. Since the print recovered further up, it looks like something lead to under extrusion. This can have several causes. Most likely temperature was not stable or the filament tangled or did not despool correctly.
Can you share the .stl file so we can take a look?

Hi,

Danke.

Hi,
did you select the Nylon profile in Cura? Did you use Cura at all? If not, which other print settings did you set?
-

Hi,
this sounds like a bug and I think I've had something similar where rotating and scalling behaved in a weird way. Please add a bug report here:
-
According to the compatibility chart from Ultimaker, this combination has not been tested:
https://ultimaker.com/en/resources/49799-material-compatibility
But you could start a small test print and see how it behaves.

If you have the equiplent then just record the print so you can correlate head movements with the temperature graph later. To me it looks like a temporary problem since the top prints well again.
-
-
Hi,
which printer do you use? How do you feed the filament manually - do you heat up the extruder on the printer or through Cura or another slicer?
-

I admire your patience with post processing prints...
Have you thought acetone smoothing? ?

Hi,
I haven't experienced this error personally but according to the help text the next step would be to contact your reseller.
Before you do that, it might be worth a try to update the firmware to the latest version and reset to factory settings. If the board is not damaged, then a simple reset might help.

Alright I can understand that you are worried. I am pretty sure that other users will chime in. So just post your specific questions about printing with the S5. What do you intend to print and which are the materials you want to print with and why?
On thing I can tell you upfront is that I personally don't like to print with PVA. I have a pretty humid environment and even though I store the PVA spool in a dry box, on some prints, PVA tends to fizzle and extrude poorly. But that's only my experience. @kmanstudios for example prints with PVA all the time and has far greater insight into this topic.
Sadly I didn't get to try to print with the "breakaway" material, but I intend to do so in order to replace PVA.
Another experience - Nylon prints like a dream and is a very interesting material. Sadly I don't need it often but when I do, I am always happy with the print results.
Bed adhesion is not an issue - except for very large ABS prints. But that's due to the nature of the material. There are some other exotic materials around which have trouble sticking to the bed but these are few and well... exotic. In these cases one can use the adhesion sheets. I try to avoid them because they are messy to get off the glass plate, but when I absolutely need the adhesion for a tricky material, they do the job very well.
Dual extrusion is painless on the S5 as it is on the UM3. Depending on what you print, you can tweak lots of print settings in Cura. The default profiles are stable and I always use them as a starting point when I am tweaking prints to perfection.
