just followed the name... printer not listed...
As I have the chance to get a UM2 or a Cr-10 soon, I'd like to check Cura - interestingly, the definition/extruder/...files are located in the ressources folder, but in "add non-network printer" they are not listed/shown.
I intalled 4.13.1 and 5.2 and 5.3 - the same... also. I can't see any Ultimaker printers...
Any hint on that appreciated??

Ultimaker provides a paid plugin that does what the solidworks plugin does (and more). I don't think that we will be spending time on porting what thopiekar did.
@nallath, ooook - so now its up to me to get it 🙂
I'm still on my beloved UMO from 2012 so I hope that this is not only elated to the new ecosystem.
BTW: recognized in 5.2.2 (and 5.3beta) that both, Normal and Fine quality profiles are 0.15 (!?!?) instead of 0.15 and 0.1... Bug? or related to my UMO? In 5.1.0 all was fine...

I also would love to get this plugin back, but I fear that the developer of it has not been on this forum since a long time.
Just look for Topiekar - last visited January 28, 2021...
very sad...
Maybe somebody else could jump in and make it usable again???
@nallath, long time no hear - sorry for bringing you in, but is there any chance anybody from Ultimaker side could assist??

yapp... same here, but not even 10%. get an error every time lauched from Solidworks via the macro button. Also when opening solidworks files directly. statement "corrupt or invalid"...
roled back to 4.11 and everything is working again as expected...
-
gave it a try and it sems that the solidworks plugin is not working when launched via solidworks any more. always shows an error indicatind a damaged or corrupt SW file. When opening directly in cura, the same happens...
uninstalled and back on 4.11, everything is working as intended...

my friend, thats a functionality I was looking for since ages... 🙂
THANK YOU very much...!!!!

It's made in Inventor.
The UM3 cores won't fit, the design is similar to the UM2 head size (´35x35mm) , the UM3 head is way bigger..
Hi!
that shouldnt be a problem. I already disassambled both cores and from your design, it seems that part 5 and 24 might be similar.
I have UM2 head parts laying around too. Tried a lot but not found an suitable design up to now.
I'm especially interested in your parts 7, 8, 25, 26 of the above shown assembly.
I work with SolidWorks, so if possible and you're willing, it would be great if you could share the design e.g. as iges...

Yeah I was thinking about putting it on Github or something like this, but I would need to take some time to clean it up a bit. For example the software that I forked - the lever switch position is currently hard coded.. also there are some other things that could work smoother. Mechanically, it's a pretty solid construction (might be because I'm a mechanical engineer and not a programmer 😅).
If someone wants to make their own, be aware that the core parts have to be made out of metal because they get quite warm. Most of the core is made from aluminum, the lever and shaft is stainless steel. Only the fan duct and the parts to connect to the x- and y-axis are printed. If someone is willing to work on the software side - I also have some spare parts lying arround that should add up to another complete printhead
I'm mechanical engineer too so that's the reason I'd like to make most things "hardware" 🙂
I have two UM3 cores with Olsson blocks laying around which I want to use for redesign the Ultimaker Original head, but there is just limited progress.
In my design I thought of lifting the unused nozzle just by 0,5mm via a simple camway made of brass and with very small pitch to reduce friction. Unfortunately I have no access to a CNC mill so all parts are designed for conventional milling or handmade.
Your implementation is a way better...
Which design SW have you used?
If the UM3 core parts can be applied in your design, I would be interested in your spare parts...

Whow - great design!
would be interested in more detailes as I plan (ok, since more than a year) to upgrade my dual UMO to something more reliable...
Are you willing to share the design?
Greetings from Austria!

some time ago, I also thought about something like this as I went out of filament just a few layers too early...
After a breif research, I found this design based on a load cell and a few electronics
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3054853
and a few other designs, which should be able to implement.
BUT - its not a simple solution...
On the other hand, there is something possible to use like a meter like this one https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3945870
to count the consumed filament.
Nevertheless, if you find a nice solution, keep us updated... think this might be a nice addon 🙂

I got the nozzle switching happening smooth now using Mark2 Firmware. I just had to edit the nozzle offset to 18mm and set the docking position to X=225.8 Y=180.4 nice and smooth now.
next step is editing the Mark2 files / profiles to work in Cura 4
Great work!
Just for interest (and as I plan to do something similar on my UMO) - where have you changed the docking position - in Cura or Marlin?
Currently I have also issues to understand, how the z-switch/hight modification is done, but I guess thats another story...
Any hints appreciated... 🙂
-
I that should be possible via implementing a few lines of "sound" into the cura end code...
Did this also form my UMO...
Look here:
http://marlinfw.org/docs/gcode/M300.html
basically you can use every monotone ringtone in RTTTL format and this converter...
[ddrboxman.github.io]or check if there are some available e.g. here...

Hi!
I gave it a try Tuesday afternonn but as I was in a hurry I have not checked in detail what happened - just re-installed 5.6 as 6.0 crashed cura when trying to open a SLPRT file...
sorry for no more details, will try to find time this weekend and check the log file.
-
upgrade it to a real "nesting" functionality would be great - similar to e.g. laser cut SW...

@XYZDesignPro, no, this is not what I mean. Do you remember your previous post? This is what I need, but with millimeters as the unit. See:
So, to change that, I think you will need to change the unit from inches to mm in Inventor's application settings. Then I expect that the minimum and maximum values of this setting will appear in mm here, too.
Otherwise, let's wait until someone helps out with that ?
PS: Testing version: 0.6.0

The adapted plugin is currently on the way to the gus at Ultimaker to check and distribute it.
I assume, it will be in hte toolbox as soon as it is approved by them.

@thopiekar, a BIG thank you for your patience and time providing this plugin! It's a pleasure to assist...

@ahoeben, Cura devs,
Seems that I experienced a (at least at my machines) reproducable crash when opening already slices/stored gcode files with 3.5
Already checked the log-file but there seems no anormalies/errors listed.
Any hint?
-
@thopiekar is working on it, but it might take some time...

Note that due to some changes in the background, all plugins needed to be updated. Not all plugins are available yet.
Once they are available, you can update them through the Toolbox.
Is a huge rework or just a minor mod required to make them work again? Just as a hint how long it might take to have them available again... ?
UltiMaker Cura 5.3 beta Released
in UltiMaker Cura
Posted
Having some issues experienced with print quality settings when giving 5.3 beta a try.
My "fine" setting shows 0,15 instead of 0,1 compared to cura 5.1.0
My printer is a UMO, "fine" is my default profile.
is this a bug or intentionally?
profile "extra fine" shows 0,06, "normal" shows 0,15 as expected...
Any hint appreciated...
