  1. many thanks for the explanation. Yes funny you should mention the bug, I did notice that at one point. So far the figures in CURA seem close enough to help me decide to either wait for the print to finish or go to bed
  2. Have noticed that the time remaining, displayed on the Ultimaker2 seems to vary a great deal compared to CURA. Was printing an item last night, which on CURA said 15mins, but on starting this on the UM2, the display showed 2 hours, this time fluctuated quite a bit and only seemed to be accurate in the last several minutes. It did actually only take 15 minutes so assume its a calibration issue. Where does the printer get it's time estimates from, is this something that the end user can adjust.
  3. Have started to upload a few images into the Gallery, apologies for the quality. Will try to get some higher resolution images uploaded later this evening. In terms of delivery the exterior of the packaging was perfect, no big dents in the box, and the printer is well packed.
  4. Hi Apologies for delay getting back, after I got the fans working I have been a little occupied, sleep is so over rated in my opinion :-P Anyway looks like I had the same issue as UIT. have marked the problem on the following image. Oh does anyone know what the second connector is for, assume that is for a second when the second print head is added?
  5. OK its been almost a week since I have been on the Forum's. My Ultimaker2 arrived last week so have been a little pre occupied :-P Just wanted to say, I'm very impressed with the U2. Had a minor issue at the start where one of the connectors supplying power to the two side fans, had come loose. Very quickly solved by pulling back the covering and putting it back in place. The packaging was very good and aside from the connector, everything looked intact. The setup was easy and documentation was very clear. The device is well built and I love the fact that the documentation covers basic maintenance, that was one thing I was concerned about in terms of knowing what to do. At the moment I have been printing existing stl files, some from the supplied SD card and others from the YouMagine. As wanted to get to grips with all the settings, although the only thing I have really used a lot is the speed settings to play around with the print quality. In the next couple of days I will start printing some things I have made so guess that might be where the fun starts as I'm very new to 3D design. I would like to thank the support from not only those on the forum but also to Sander in HQ and Alex and Paul in the UK offices. Its really good to have a responsive support network available, so thanks folks, really appreciated. Fantastic printer and well worth the money.
  6. Problem solved, loose wire near the head. Whilst pondering what I might be able to do at 12:30 AM - yep it is rather addictive LOL, I noticed a small black wire protruding from the mesh cable covering. I pulled back the covering and plugged it back into the block.. Hurrah - Happy me. Thanks for all the advise folks
  7. OK thanks for that, well have tried a number of different prints and only the third is active. Neither of the side fans seem to operate. Will hold off until taking a deeper look until I hear from Support, but thanks to you all for your help. Hopefully it will be a simple fix
  8. Im running direct off the SD card so not running via Cura, but have checked the settings and the fan for PLA is set to 100%. Have just edited my post as spotted a third fan at the rear which is working
  9. Hi there Just received my U2 and running some test prints. Currently struggling to print the test robot on the SD card. Problem seems to start at the hands, one thing I have noticed is that the fans either side of the print head are not working, kind of assumed that they only trigger at a certain temp point but just wondered if this is the reason why im having trouble when it comes to printing the less solid elements. I have sent an email to support but appreciate they will now be closed but just wondered if there is another test that is worth running so I can give them more info. So far three robots are failing at the same part. I have reset to factory defaults and gone over the setup again but same result. Thanks in advance Oh for info, in terms of the build quality, packaging and general information supplied. Fantastic, very happy. :-P EDIT - Just spotted the third Fan at the rear, this is running, its the two on the side that are not active.
  10. Veedee, thanks for the info on that also. That will be very useful also. Have just purchased the Solid Works Bible, so currently navigating through that.
  11. Thanks Danny for the advice, Didn't realise there was a webcam option in Cura, must admit I have not seen it in the settings?
  12. I took a few images of various devices, is that what you want or was it more of general shots of the event
  13. When I spoke to the guys at the NEC the other week, I was told that things would take a while, given the fact that they were in the middle of a launch and having come straight from the USA to the UK, sounds perfectly reasonable tbh. I would rather they go to the effort of testing these new devices fully before release to the masses. Perfect business sense IMHO. I'm trying to use the time productively, learning 3D drawing software. So hopefully by the time it arrives I can hit the ground running rather than just printing other folks designs. I'm currently on a very steep learning curve lol
  14. Fantastic, will look into this, this evening. Just dipping my toe in 3D modelling at the moment, so very steep learning curve. Edit just checked - yes exactly as stated, just gone into options when saving as an STL file and the option is there. Many thanks for your help
  15. Hi there, Just wondered if I can get a little Solidworks into Cura advice. Have just started using Solid works so still working on the various tutorials, I have just run a quick test on two objects which I thought were stuck together using Mate?. When I save as an STL file I seem to have two files rather than one with the combined objects. Any ideas where I am going wrong Cheers Mark
  16. Well Ultimaker2 on order ) so figured before it arrives, I might as well do something productive to save me wishing away the days. So - I have also been thinking about ways to remote control the device when im away. Does anyone have a set up to remote view and also if required ways to remote kill the print job. If so I would really be interested in the set up.
  17. thank you all for your replies, OK makes sense, the last thing I want is a bad experience which results in the printer gathering dust.
  18. Hi Very new to this and currently looking at 3D printers. I think I have just about settled on the Ulitmaker but spotted the dual extruder options. Is this something that is worth going for at the start or leaving until I get more into the printing. With a dual extruder can you mix PLA on one item or is it mainly to save switching colours for other projects? Does anyone know if its possible to get the assembled unit with dual extruders Cheers in advance Mark
