  1. Michiel, What colour? What material, ABS, PLA?
  2. Do you still have the original sd card, the one that came with your printer. Does that one cause problems? Which make/size causes problems, It would be interesting to know which ones to avoid.
  3. Yes. I've had the normal learning curve, but I can now print a full size object in PLA without warping or using glue sticks or anything else. I've not tried ABS yet. I think most people who have UM2's are just quietly printing away.
  4. I see Daid has closed this issue, but it is still not fixed. The latest Cura 13.12 still will not slice the model, despite the fact it is within Ultimaker's size limit and does not hit the clips. It prints fine with 13.10. @Daid, you can use this test2.stl to verify.
  5. I'm getting this exact same problem with 13.12. On "Abort" it retracts the filament between 2-6 inches (seems random). It does not feed it again when resuming so its needed to manually feed the filament. It's a real PITA. I'm using a PC by the way, not a MAC.
  6. Yes, that's what I meant. 0.3 is 50% more than your 0.2, so maybe something else then.
  7. Is the extruder motor cogging a lot? I did a test print at 0.3 layer height, 50mm/sec and the motor was cogging continuously. There was massive under extrusion and the print was flimsy like straw with layers falling apart. I've not done a test at 0.2 but looking at the pic, it appears to be the same thing.
  8. When I click your images to get a closer look I get "you do not have permission to view these images". I assume the moderators can see them. Is this my settings or Geeks?
  9. I would like to see both temperatures displayed. Also could the display continue to show the temperatures during the "safe to remove" message.
  10. Thanks gr5, if the syringes don't do it, I'll try that.
  11. I use Alibre for my CAD and have never had this. Is it every Alibre stl or just one? Can you share it a Robert suggested?
  12. Arrg!. Disaster struck today. About 10-15 seconds into the new print the nozzle blocked. I've tried unloading/reloading the filament without success. I've nothing fine enough to poke in there and unblock it, so I've just ordered a pack of 100 30G (0.3mm) disposable syringes from Amazon. Hopefully, I'll be able to unblock it without taking the head apart. Ah well, the best laid plans etc.
  13. I printed directly on to the glass without glue or hairspray as the first few small prints I did stuck like s**t to a blanket. Unfortunately the model is too large to use the brim but I have just added some to the cad. I'll try at 0.2mm as well.
  14. Ok, to finally answer my own question: Almost! Sliced in Cura 13.10, printed at 40mm/Sec, 220/75 degrees with 0.15 layer height. It printed in around 25 hours, but I have got a lot of warping that lifted the edges of the platform. I'll be doing more experiments to get this right. There's a high res image here: http://www.woofys-place.co.uk/files/base1H.jpg
  15. 2nd print on my new UM2 after the obligatory robot, Robert's total evil despicable wretched LabyrinthGiftBox. This one is a little different, I used Cura's x-mirror button to reverse the maze so anyone who learns one get flummoxed by the other. My daughter and son-in-law are getting one each for xmas - full of sweets so they won't be able to give up. Heh heh!
  16. Thanks Robert, By the way, It's actually currently printing your http://umforum.ultimaker.com/index.php?/topic/2667-a-new-design-has-been-posted-on-youmagine/?p=28734!
  17. Ah! Thanks for that. There's nothing in the manual about it and its not shown in the "What's in the box" page. I assumed it was some sort of test or calibration aid. Just had a look and I can see where it fits. It doesn't want to go in though, but its printing at the moment and I don't want to disturb it too much. I'll fit it later.
  18. Amazing! I'm going to be well chuffed if I get results like that from my UM2.
  19. Wow, just wow! I don't think I will be able to leaf that one alone when I get my printer. :-P
  20. Yes, but with luck - next week I'll have it. Anyway there's nothing else big enough that I'd swap it for, and I looked a lot before ordering the UM2.
  21. They received a batch of timing belts that were the wrong size.
  22. Thanks gr5 and illuminarti. I'll use 13.10 until this is fixed.
  23. Just to illustrate the issue with a few pics This is the model loaded into 13.11.2, both brim and skirt are off and it clearly misses the gray rectangles. Here I have put skirt back on and scaled to fit, Cura scaled this to 0.88. Here is the layer 1 path. The skirt is nowhere near the edge or rectangles, but that's as large as it will go. Now the same thing with the skirt off. This time Cura scaled it to 0.91 with as a Max size. Still nowhere near the edge or rectangles, but that's as large as it will go. And finally for reference, the same model loaded into 13.10. Skirt and brim off and 100% scale. Again, the layer 1 path. Either there's a setting I'm missing or this is a bug.
