  1. When printing models one at a time, Cura slices them so that they print from the front of the UM2 first and the rear for the last model. Can I reverse this? The reason is for my webcam. Currently the first print obscures the remaining ones.

    Copy & Paste

I just cant copy or paste anything into this reply box... nothing. :( Wierd Odd, the above worked fine (win7 machine).
  3. So now that I can see my printer happily printing away, I need a way to switch it off if things go wrong. And they do, this is my first attempt at the tripod. So I decided to make an IP power switch with a standard UK wall outlet socket and a small ethernet relay module that has a free smartphone app. The box includes cable clamps and pcb mounting posts. The files will be on YouMagine later.

What are you using? I have an old ASUS transformer tablet at home that will not let me copy/paste on this forum, but does everywhere else. On a desktop the forum works ok.
  5. Three of the arms on my spool holder were printed with UM translucent blue. https://www.youmagine.com/designs/spool-holder-for-loose-filament 230C nozzle and 75C bed IIRC, no sticking problems at all. I find at 70-75C PLA sticks to the glass like s**t to a blanket and at room temperature it just lifts off (and no glue - never used it).
  6. Morning people's, Off to the dentist this morning for my 6 monthly checkup, and printed a box last night. If I survive the former, I'll tell you about the latter later. Enjoy your mug of tea.
  7. Well 6 o-clock has come and gone and so ends another day at work. Now for the good bit, grub then pub. Over and out.
  8. Just sat down with my afternoon cup of tea, and to catch up on the forum. (who wants to drink all that nasty coffee muck) Ducks head quickly.
  9. Last time I looked, I thought the student licence automatically expired after 12 months or so.
  10. I think the price is "If you have to ask, you can't afford it"
  11. Feel the need to keep an eye on your Ultimaker while you are out and about? Here's a real cheap way of doing it. If you have an old smartphone laying around, with the help of a free app it can be pressed into use as an IP camera. Another free app on your own phone will allow you to view it remotely. I used an old Android Galaxy Ace as the IP camera and a free app from the playstore - "IP Webcam". It's linked to my WIFI so no data charges to pay for. For my main phone, also an Android device, I use "IP cam viewer lite". The files for the Adjustable Tripod are on Youmagine. https://www.youmagine.com/designs/ip-camera-tripod Now I just need a way to turn it off if things go wrong - working on it. I'm currently printing a hub for my faberdashery spoolholder for the next 8 hours. View the webcam here: woofycam.dnsdynamic.net <-- enter just this where the IP address goes, no www or @ or anything else. port 8080 leave user name and password empty.
  12. @r2d2 You will need the same sized gears, or you will be trying to drive each side of the filament at different speeds.
  13. @Ian, Does the UM2 have pots, I thought it was controlled directly from the CPU (using a filtered pwm). @Handyman, In my opinion, if you can put your finger on the motor for up to 10 seconds then you have no problems.
  14. Cura slices "on the fly" so after setting Print all at once you need to re-slice by moving something slightly.
  15. Nicolinux, I'm using the Faberdashery spool holder I put on Youmagine yesterday. https://www.youmagine.com/designs/spool-holder-for-loose-filament That's Faberdashery Arctic White wound on there at the moment.
  16. ALMOST HAPPY! My new Telflon and Nozzle parts arrived today. Just in time, my UM2 is almost dead, so I decided to replace both parts at the same time. Here the "before replacement" test as a reference point. After replacement this is what I got Way to go! That's NOT under extrusion you're looking at. It's horrible melted PLA because I broke my fan cable. There was no skipping of the feeder at all. That's fixed and I'm printing again right now. Just peeked at it, its up to 5mm3/Sec ok. I'll be back in 10 minutes or so. This is tense.
  17. Faberdashery Spool Holder https://www.youmagine.com/designs/spool-holder-for-loose-filament This is heavily based on the work of others. The Arm, Hook and Hub came from Jensa's design here: https://www.youmagine.com/designs/adjustable-heavy-duty-filament-spool (which in turn came from Thingiverse). The base is from Cor3ys in this post: http://umforum.ultimaker.com/index.php?/topic/4498-first-print-straight-out-of-the-box/?p=38596 I modified Cor3ys upper side part to make it longer and include the tube the shaft sits in. The Hub was modified to make the hole larger and to include a longer tube to stabalise the the hub on the shaft. I made a shaft to fit - who wants to buy 2 meters of pipe just to get 175mm worth when you can print one! I also made a base for the spool holder and a couple of spacers to position the filament wheel in the center.
  18. My UM2 is currently very poorly. It skips on the first layer (0.3mm 20mm/S) all the time. Fastest print speed is now only 0.2mm 25mm/S. (or 2mm3/S) I have a new teflon part and nozzle on the way from Ultimaker. Marrit is sending them under warranty which is great, and I even had a follow up PM from Sander to make sure everything is being dealt with. The teflon part seems free when I remove it and push some filament through it but under pressure and temperature I'm not so sure so I want to change it. Like wise the nozzle. Although it looks clear after I clean it out and a 0.3mm syringe goes though ok, I'm still unsure its 0.4mm all the way through. I will run a 0.4mm drill through it but want the security of a replacement nozzle on hand first. The pressure on the filament from the feeder spring is huge and does distort the filament. The filament is wearing through the ABS casing too, so its clearly binding in there. I will try both Ian's and Geeks designs as soon as they are ready. I'm currently printing Roberts extruder to check out (mirrored so I don't need to rewire hardware or rewrite the firmware). I can see some scratching on the inside of the bowden so I've some of that on order too. Finger crossed, I'll get there. It's not all doom and gloom though. The printer produces great results provided I go very slow (0.1mm 30mm/S). In my spare time I've been printing and modifying the Faberdashery spool holder.
  19. Hey Aaron, Glad your printer has arrived and it looks a good one. Looks great extrusion ar 10mm3/s. I can only dream of that.
  20. It's done better than that Daid, in just 2 weeks between December 5th and December 19th last year it more than halved in value. Bitcoin is an unstable currency unsupported by any national government, and I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole. Just google on "bitcoin value graph". It's a disaster waiting to happen.
