I like ColorFabb's Blueish White a lot more than their Standard White. It prints better and looks cleaner.

@UltiArjan there is a bunched up string of copper wire LED's inside. The design files are now available on Youmagine https://www.youmagine.com/designs/scifi-lamp

A lot of dust on the filament can produce that kind of blockage. What's your working environment like?

test before buy ultimaker
gothampixel replied to szalkai's topic in Buying or selling your UltiMaker
you can request a test print right from Ultimaker's website printed by a 3D Hub's member -
They sent me the nut.stl file and I completed that order but I have done 3 more Ultimaker 2 print sample orders and that file is still not part of the package. I usually print the pre done gcode file so it's not a problem. That first order the customer wanted it printed in a higher resolution so I needed the stl for the nut and the bolt.

With this release the head does not return to the back left corner after a material change. When I start a print the display reads Printing: e

By default initial layer thickness is set to .3 in the advanced tab. You may have changed that

The file pm_dude pointed to was the correct one. The idea was that this model was chosen to be a perfect print on an Ultimaker so I needed the exact one. Thanks,

It's ridiculous how much ill informed tech reporting is coming out of CES. The Telegraph "Now 3D printers can make fake wood, stone, and metal, until now 3D-printed objects have all looked like plastic, but Makerbot has created new material which mimic wood, metal and stone to make printers far more versatile" Computer World "Hands on with MakerBot's 3D printed wood, Later this year you'll be able to print with materials containing wood, metal or stone" Cnet "MakerBot makes 3D printing more realistic with metal, wood and stone" No!!, Later this year Makerbot joins the other filament providers like ColorFabb and ProtoPasta in providing composite materials containing wood, metal or stone. the most ridiculous part is the "good news" Cnet lets us know about..... In order to print the new materials, however, a new extruder is needed for each material type. The good news is all MakerBot's fifth-generation 3D printers support a Smart Extruder, which can be easily swapped out. I hope the Ultimaker booth at CES is displaying some bronze, copper, and woodfill prints and lets every reporter know this is being done now, no need to swap out extruders! http://www.computerworld.com.au/article/563390/hands-makerbot-3d-printed-wood/ http://www.cnet.com/news/makerbot-to-add-composite-materials-professional-service-and-remote-monitoring-to-its-5th-gen-3d/ http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/news/11330038/Now-3D-printers-can-make-fake-wood-stone-and-metal.html

Yeah it's missing, the gcode file prints both the nut and bolt together but then they only provide the bolt.stl which is just the bolt by itself when I load it up in Cura. PM_dude, that looks like the same model, can anyone from Ultimaker confirm? I'll check with 3D hubs, they don't have the quickest response time and I need to get this printed and shipped tomorrow. Thanks guys,

I received an order on 3D hubs for a Ultimaker sample print (the nut and bolt) but it only contained the gcode files and an stl file for just the bolt. The client would like to see it printed at 50 microns so I need to slice it myself. Anyone know where I can get the nut.stl file from?

That is the sound of the Z step, the layer finished and the build plate is dropping down to start the next layer. It might be more noticeable when you are printing at larger layer heights because the screw rotating more.

Should I go for ZBrush?
gothampixel replied to memory556's topic in Design for Additive Manufacturing
I just started learning Rhino 3D because I want to create more organic shapes. It is a very different approach to modeling when coming from Blender but I'm finding you can be more creative with your shapes. -
check out this thread, sounds like the problem I had when i first got my U2 http://umforum.ultimaker.com/index.php?/topic/5106-loud-noise-on-start-and-end-of-every-print/

Cura 14.07: Support structure not in the right places
gothampixel replied to peanudt's topic in UltiMaker Cura
@Peanudt I found that a 54 degree or lower angle for overhang support is needed with this model to provide support for that one leg that is floating off the build plate. Their documentation states their models have built in support but I don't see any. I decided not to continue with the project. -
Cura 14.07: Support structure not in the right places
gothampixel replied to peanudt's topic in UltiMaker Cura
Is this for the Lock-Nesters 3D hubs certification? I'm having the same issue! I was under the impression that these models would be optimized for FDM printing. The default position after loading it into Cura with Support Type = everywhere leaves massive overhangs and parts floating in air.
