  1. I have nearly the same thoughts. I have no idea what patent it could be, that they want to file? (last point on the left) Is there any invention, that is not "prior art"? (PS: I hate patents)
  2. The time is near that I have to think about the teflon replacement. I have only printed with PLA (incl. woodfill and polymaker PLA) for many hours now. I don't like the requirement of expendable materials other than the filament. And I have read different impressions about the new teflon part with glass by ultimaker. (more friction) I'm a little bit confused about all my current options for the UM2. Is there some overview what alternatives are available for the UM2? With tests for the different hotend solutions? Some users here seem to have some good experiences with "all metal hotends", b

  4. little bit OT, just an idea: Would it help to find a proper material, to print only one or two layer of some divider material? The support could be printed in the same material as the object. The soluble material would be only on the contact surfaces betw. support and object. In this way problems like different shrinkage of the two materials are minimized. And it would reduce the requirements on the helper material. (It would avoid the printing of bigger structures with the soluble material).

  7. I wouldn't sleep in the same room where the printer is working. Beside of the noise, I would rise concerns over the fumes. A video would help to determine any sounds that aren't normal.

  9. Temperatur gibt es nur am Drucker. Damit wird sichergestellt, dass ein Objekt (gcode) mit verschiedenen Materialien gedruckt werden kann (die ja unterschiedliche Temperaturen brauchen). Es gab das mal in Cura, wurde aber aus o.g. Grund wieder entfernt. Die % der Geschwindigkeit bezieht sich auf den PrintSpeed in Cura. Beispiel: Wenn Du in Cura die Geschwindigkeit auf 60mm/s setzt und als gcode speicherst, dann bedeuten 50% am Drucker dass mit 30mm/s gedruckt wird. Aus diesem Grund bringt es nichts, wenn manche Leute bei der Frage nach Geschwindigkeit mit x% antworten.
  10. It sounds as if the feeder is skipping. Make an ear trumpet out of a sheet of paper, and try to localize the source of the sound. Is the feeder snapping back at the moment of the click?

  12. Yes, but you are an experianced user and you know that you can deactivate it. All the noobs with first postings may not activate the follow. So a lot of new users are asking a question and get no massage about the answerrs.
  13. IMHO the option to follow a topic, where the user has posted in a thread or started a new one, should be "on" by default.
  14. Maybe try to turn the glass around. IMHO if there is a irregularity in the surface of the glass, than it should be only on one side. The first layer has it's own setting in Cura. It is independent from the normal layer hight. I have good results with the first layer to be a multiple of the normal layer hight. But the relation of the values is not really relevant. EDIT: @solid print 3D: You can follow this thread (Button on the top), than you will get informed on every new posting in this thread.

  17. That is a nice idea. The inner side of the container shouldn't be round. The expensive tumblers are six or eight sided containers. And the flexible ones are round on the outside and with sides in the inside. Take a look at this video (At 1m20s she explained the shape in the inside.): She uses water to avoid the residue on the surface. For that the container must be watertight. Don't know how the bronzefill will react to the water.

  20. A little bit OT: "Theta" - A printer with up to four heads. And they can print simulaniously. ô.O Polarkoordinates seems to be a better concept for multi extruder. http://3dprint.com/13310/theta-3d-printer/ One bad thing is, that the resolution changes depending on the position on the build plate.
  21. I hope the big announcement is not a new UM3. The promised dual head was one reason to choose the UM2 for me, too. If there is no working prototype yet, than it will take a very long time until we have the dual head in our hands. (testing, more testing with beta users, production, shipping), I have the bad feeling, that the dual head for UM2 will never come. That would be a huge disappointment for me. :(
  22. Maybe a 3d-scanner inside the printer could be used (somwhere in the future) to monitor the printing. It could detect failed prints where you get rat-nests, shifting, clogged nozzle and similar problems to stop the print. With really high resolution you could detect underextrusion, too?

  24. I think his foam tires have done that. For 133Mph they have to spin very fast, and in case of a defect that is a lot of energy, like a little explosion.
