    The S- series are reliable machines, no question about it. Also true for the UM2+ Connect. We operate them in our print farm. They do however suffer from some hardware and also software issues (can be more specific if you like .. let me know). 

    However, we have lately come to the conclusion that Ultimakers are completely outperformed by the Bambulab X1C in every single aspect. At only a fraction of the cost. 

    So, depending on you build volume requirements, the X1C would certainly be a better choice. Sorry if this seems out of place here. But that is my personal experience. Hope it helps.

    Without knowing more details, this looks like it might be a network related issue.

    Oh, ok. But that used to be different. At least in my experience.

    Hi all

    Quick question: lately I keep having to sign in into Cura 3-4 times until it recognizes the account and associated printers. After a while, Gcode uploading doesn't work anymore. The messages 'Uploading print job to printer' start piling up. I then have to sign out and sign in a few times again (Cura 5.3.1). 

    Not sure if it is an issue that only I have.

    Thanks. Not an option for this one I'm afraid. But...got mostly rid of it by changing to a Connect. Guess it uses different stepper drivers 😀

    Hi

     

    I'm sure some of you have also come across this issue. Vertical lines on vertical, 2D curved, surfaces.

    Can this be overcome (Cura 5.2.1)?

    I tried a few things: high res STL, max travel resolution & deviation, speed, layer thickness between 0.06mm and 0.1mm.

    Nothing changed this. 

    I guess it has to do with how the printer approximates the curvature.

    What are you missing from Print via Network that you are not getting from Print via Cloud? 

     

    Print via Network is not available for UM2+Cs but if you want to ensure that the option shows up you can add the printers to Cura via IP adress. But this workflow will make you miss out on all the features we are developing for the Digital Factory.

    Digital Factory is great, no issues with it. There are basically two reason to use the network:

    a. a lot of CGodes are written ad hoc, going via the DF slows down the workflow

    b. occasionally internet connectivity is an issue. Usually not a big deal, but if it happens at a bad time impact on productivity can be a bummer (e.g. if a number of printers need to be started but cannot).

Though the volunteer fellow community members can often help you, if you have a problem with 9 UM2Cs and countless S3s and S5s, it is probably better to get in touch with your dealer, who should be able to put you in contact with Ultimaker support.

    Well you have proven the point. I have spelled out my subjective observation. If you disagree, fine.

    But would you kindly stop postulating things? Continuously...

    Because to me, you actually come across as aggressive and utterly intolerant. 

    But never mind; there has been some valuable input now from an official answer, on this not official Ultimaker support channel.

    Thanks for the reply. I'm afraid I have tried that solution on several machines. The issue persists with 9 UM2Cs and countless S3s and S5s. But OK, I'll figure it out. 

     

    BTW, at what point was I not nice? If I feel like things here have changed here, I should be able to mention it. Do not postulate that I'm not being nice, that is indeed rude. 

    I have shared multiple experiences here over the past years coming directly from our print farm. And this has enabled people to improve their machines. And there still are issues (eg. the post I made about the bowden tube issue the UM2C has).

    I think as soon as we talk about super glue your doing a "Heath Robinson" and a Plastic gear ??? ditch it,  and get a Bondtech end of story. I have an UM2 and another machine and I think the UM2 is a lot more refined than I originally thought,, excepting it has some flaws and replacing them is better than getting rid of the machine, the UM2 is a good machine..

     

    Could not agree more. Bondtechs and a bag of PTFE couplers. All my UM2(+)'s are between 3000-5000 hours now. BTW I use a little fan to keep the Bondtechs cool.

    naja, du fertigst ja z.B. auch deine eigenen Coupler - ich vermute mal weil du mit dem Ersatzteilpreis von UM nicht so ganz einverstanden bist - oder wozu der Aufwand?

    Der Coupler ist eindeutig als Verschleißteil identifiziert. Wenn der UM2 muckt...fliegt der Coupler und es geht weiter. Aber dank der Open Source Geschichte bin ich nicht an einen Lieferanten gebunden.  

     

    Steht da: "...was 3.ooo.- € (UM3) an Wert..."

    Das bedeutet ein UM³ kostet rund 3000.- Euro (netto) :p

    Der D-Mark Vergleich ist Käse das stimmt.

     

    Ich meine den UM2.

     

    Sorry aber das ist Unsinn: Ich habe in den letzten ~12 Jahren mit einigen Kettensägen gearbeitet. An *keiner* musste man basteln bis sie lief - ganz im Gegensatz zum UM².

     

    Ich rede nicht vom 'basteln'. Ich rede davon das man sich mit einer jeden Maschine die man benutzen möchte ein wenig auskennen sollte.  Bei der Kettensäge kann man sonst im schlimmsten Fall nur noch bis neun zählen.

    Bei allem Respekt!

    Habt Ihr denn kein Verhältnis mehr zum Geld? ...

     

    Sehe ich ganz anders.

    Habe ausschließlich UM2's im Einsatz, fast pausenlos. Die Investitionskosten sind dabei ein Witz. Open Source ist dabei eine Grundvoraussetzung.

    Woher die 3000€ kommen kann ich nicht nachvollziehen, auch den DM Vergleich nicht. Wollen wir in 50 Jahren immer noch mit zwei multiplizieren?

    Zum Drucker selber bauen; mache ich auch. Ist aber noch mal eine ganz andere Hausnummer. Hat mit den empfohlenen UM Modifikationen nicht viel gemeinsam.

    Ich empfehle den UM2 grundsätzlich weiter; sage den Leuten aber das sie sich darauf einstellen müssen zu lernen. Ist aber bei Kettensägen nicht anders... ;)

     

    Ein Freund von mir hat sich auch den Prusa i3 gekauft. Der läuft bis heute nicht (vor einem halben Jahr gekauft). Zudem sehen die Teile extrem schlecht aus. Ein Teil der Plastikteile wurden anscheinend mit einem 3D Drucker gemacht.

     

    Ein Kollege von mir hat sich einen zugelegt. Der Zusammenbau war in einem Nachmittag erledigt. Seit dem druckt er lustig. War sein erster Drucker.

    Klar wurden die 'Plastikteile' mit einem 3D- Drucker gedruckt. Dafür sind sie ja da ;)

    Bevor wir einen neuen Drucker (z.B. Stratasys Fortus) in Betrieb nehmen, erhalten wir eine eingehende Einweisung des Herstellers. Ultimaker macht es sich auch hier sehr, sehr einfach, indem man ein Forum installiert und die Menschen vor sich hinwerkeln lässt.

     

    Was kostet so ein Fortus denn? Und was kostet so ein Kilogram Material für das Maschinchen?
