alnavasa started following Ultimaker S5 R1 Electronics Glue? , Unstable Wifi S5 Printer , Layer expansion printing PC and 4 others

Anyway to improve unstable wifi for the printer, I have a ultimaker original with octopi right by the side and I've never had issues printing with it, But the S5 tends to disconnect a lot. I have also given the printer a fixed IP address from the router. Here is a snippet from unifi wireless. (of course I don't have Ethernet on that room.)

Nice work there!

Great news! Thanks!

Hi, I tried to print Ultimaker branded, new out of the box polycarbonate. Ultimaker s5 8.2.0 software Cura 5.6.0 I am getting some sort of horizontal expansion distortion in all layers directions, Black is the same print in black ABS, Transparent is PC Print file is "Bowden Clamp for Ultimaker (Heater End)" from Owen. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:11864 Some other pictures from while printing. I also see some kind of under extrusion on the grid of this piece, (not the others printed on this print)

Thanks for the info, now I get it, 0.25 just for visual prints, not engineering, I was looking for the finest functional prototype I could get with the 0.25, not sure now, but I think I also tried with 0.06 layer height. In the past with PLA I tried 0.06 with the aa0.25 and it delaminated easily, thought it was a bad spool (very old one) I now get that that print core nd that profile are not meant to have strength with this print core just visual quality. Thanks for all the info!

Okey, ¿For print core 0.4 we use 2% fan speed and for print 0.25 core we use 40%? that's a huge difference, you sure this is right? Its like going from no fan at all to almost half speed of fan (that we all know is almost like 80% in real life, not much difference on Ultimaker machines between 50% fan and 100% fan) I am getting not good adhesion on first layer, I have printed a lot of ABS at 0.4 core with zero issues using just hairspray, I am talking about 20+ models with this same printer on default settings, and now, printing the same model with the 0.25 failed 3 times in a row. Using same hairspray using same spool of material, same room, same machine.

After 4 unsuccessful prints I noticed something was not right For whatever reason, for print core AA 0.25 for ABS Regular Fan Speed is set to 40% for print core AA 0.4 for ABS Regular Fan Speed is set to 2% I have the feeling that other settings might be wrong too. I thing this is a big issue that needs to are addressed soon in 5.6.1 version. This is on a fresh install after I have just reformatted the complete OS of the computer Cura 5.6.0 Mac OS 13.6.3 (22G436) Ultimaker S5

Hi, I just replaced that cable (And many other parts) That cable is cheap, around 20€ I recomendable you to buy on the same order (to save shipping fees) the capacity cable (around 1€) and a couple of silicone spares for the nozzle cover (around 4€) In my case my printer also had more than 3.000 hour, so I replaced the belts (recommended to be replaced after 4.000 hour), also replaced new print cores, new springs for the bed and new clips, as well as Bowden tubes and their clips. Your head cable, I recommend watching this video to see how the plug from the printhead is removed: The cabe then traces to the back of the printer and into the motor cover. The monitor covers are just pushed in, just pull them gently first form one (I recommend the wall side) side and the from the other (the back side). At this step you will need to lay down the printer, on the side, put some cloth or similar to prevent the printer from scratching Befor opening the bottom of the printer make sure that it is completely unplugged from the wall, It is not electrically safe to open below while the cable is connected (R1 version of the S5). Also to prevent any ESD issues with the board I recommend you remove static from you, I personally touch the water radiator of the house metallic non painted part which is grounded so I get my self discharged, there is people that work with sensitive equipment that always have a cable connected to the ground to them to be completely off, not my case, but I just give it a touch before to prevent. Then below there its pretty much straight forward, follow the cable take pictures before to follow after. Also the cable has a position, one side goes to the printhead, and the other goes to the PCB below the printer, I think the one for the PCB below the printer has some sort extra heat shrink tubbing. Also the capacity cable snapped off right after the overhaul, so I recommend changing it for what it is worth, actually is easier to change it while the printer is being manipulated. The cable plugs in the back side of the printhead and the cables side just pull the older ones from the PCB and push the new ones into the PCB of the capacity sensor. They are NOT soldered (I read people soldering them here) they have a connector where you insert the cable, just by pushing it, then you pull to check if they are snug and don't move, If they move, pull them away, look at the clip that holds them, the clip has two arms on each of the sides that go in, if the cable is not being held inside, those two arms need to be pushed further in. This video helped too:

Still crashing after fresh install (also having issues with plugging sync) Incredible for a 6.000€ printer. will report in GitHub too. 2024-01-02 11:28:05,333 - DEBUG - [MainThread] UM.TaskManagement.HttpRequestManager._onRequestError [369]: request[53c70cc2][get][PyQt6.QtCore.QUrl('https://api.ultimaker.com/connect/v1/clusters?status=active')][timeout=10][no-data] got an QNetworkReplyError Operation canceled. Thanks for all the info, I removed the electronics, and cleaned excessive glue, pads remained in place, it was just the glue being too soft, why?, I don't know, Now everything is in place and the glue holds together without excessive glue spilling around, All good. Thanks for the info!

Is there any consideration by the ultimaker team to use the material station as a color station as other brands are currently doing (we all know who) From what I read currently this is not possible and it is not what the station was thought to be used for, but I don't see any reason why you couldn't do it and purge the different materials on the sides, and maybe ultimaker could sell (or share the file to print) some sort of purging basket to "glue" on the sides of the machine, this way this kind of prints could be possible, I know this kind of multicolor prints are very slow, and since the rivalry company is a "fast printer" this may leave ultimaker poorly rated when compared in speed multi color prints, but, we don't have a ultimaker for speed, we have it for build quality and precision, so I don't think this comparison would go anywhere

Reading posts from this forum, and receiving no answers from any member of the team, either this or other posts, leaves me amazed, coming from 10+ years ago with the wood ultimaker original that I have, this forum (actually the old one) was gold with a lot of support from oficial and non oficial members, this now seems gone, and everything looks to go via a "profesional" dealer way. I kind of have the feeling that Ultimaker is dying or they only care for the people that have premium deal support. If anyone from the stuff reads this, correct me if I am wrong.

No one? The community from the old ultimaker forum, from the time when I had the wood made ultimaker original, around 2012-2013 where active members of the community and helped others is totally gone. Some are still around like @gr5, but if feel totally abandoned, and back in that time there was a lot of help and support. I have the feeling ultimaker left the home user, or home pro user alone and the only way to get support is from official dealers paying.

Hi, I recently acquired a 3000 hour second hand used ultimaker s5 r1 I was changing the printhead cable yesterday, (I broke the tab of it at the printhead while cleaning a lot of debris from the printhead itself), when I noticed that the PCB connector for the printhead at the PCB was not very clean (already cleaned when I took the picture), and further inspection revealed some sort of oil/glue and some pads on the side between the PCB and the ultimaker bottom, is this normal? I don't want to remove all the electronics, but I can do it if you think it is not normal, I don't know if this is factory glue, or that the previous owner spilled oil around the bottom of the machine. Also RED pc looks like it has some corrosion, Pictures look all worse than this actually is. I know S5 R1 danger for electronics, I completely unplug it from the wall before opening it.
