  1. My main issue with all of this is that you don't seem to have looked at how active (or not) people want to be on the forum. 99% of the time I just like to visit the main forum page (usually once or twice a day) and see if there was new activity. A single pageview that gives me all information and fuels my decision whether I'm interested in clicking into forums or not. This thing has been designed with an "information overload" in mind it seems. I really don't care about a feed of all lasts posts, I care even less about having to subscribe to every topic that I deem interesting so that I get a notification and I definitely don't want to click into every forum. Of all the forums there are about 6 or 7 that really interest me and you're now forcing everything down my throat. Sure, I get that you want to build a community and do social stuff, everyone does these days. All of this makes me feel like I'm being forced to do more on the site than just see if there is something I wish to respond to.
  2. Not really constructive but I have the feeling I just lost everything I liked on the ultimaker forum. It's an extreme pain to find out where new things are posted. we used to be able to see the entire overview for all forums in 1 page, now we have to click through a ton of pages to find anything. Sure, sleek looks but so far I see nothing that I like. Just my 0.02
  3. If it's technically possible that would be cool! I am still hoping that Cura will start adding meta comments for the progress as well. That way the firmware can start showing more accurate times while printing instead of how much % of the file was processed already... I've had it occur more than once that it says 1 minute left and it still has 10 minutes work and vice versa
  4. Just installed the latest RC (first attempt at running a custom firmware). Loving the extra information, awesome work!
  5. Leon: you should definitely consider purchasing one of those blocks from Anders... I've started using mine last week and I love being able to swap out nozzles in 30 seconds
  6. Nice Layer height .5 on a .8 nozzle and still 92 hours of print... omg Have to say that my .8 nozzle if fast becoming my favorite one Edit: Remember my Ulti-bot army? They lost the war... All 50 of them were crushed by giants in less than 5 minutes. Even the special ones with red and black clothing that were built on site!
  7. Awesome Leon! So how did you end up glueing the pieces together?
  8. So PEEK can now be printed on FDM printers. Impressive material, cool things to print with it: http://www.3ders.org/articles/20150322-revolutionary-peek-filament-now-compatible-with-fdm-3d-printers.html Pretty darn awesome. Now, where is that 400° hotend when you need it?
  9. Valcrow they actually look quite good but you can clearly see the difference on the stars on the belly, almost not visible on de 0.8 version. Although that might also be because of the printing speed.
  10. Shurik, dunno, I think they'll come out just as good without... I just feel safer with some infill
  11. I see a lot of videos passing by of people trying to change a heater block/nozzle with the complete head assembly still in place. This is very cumbersome and way harder than it needs to be. The folks from UM have a couple nice tricks to completely detach the assembly from the rods so that you can work on the head without any problems. When they showed us on one of their Ulti-Evenings I got the idea to share this with everyone but never got the time. Now with Anders' new heater block (which is awesome!) more people are going to attempt to disassemble their printer heads, so I figured it was time to do something. I've documented their tips with a couple pictures and put it online. I know the layout is sh*t right now (as in: there is none) but I wanted to share this for people to find. Let me know if you think things can be better (besides the layout, I don't have time to do a nice one right now). So without further ado, here it is: http://3dprinting.wtf/detach-printer-head.html
  12. And another one: My ulti-bot army Just installed the Anders Olsson block this morning and I've abused the E3D 0.8mm nozzle to print all those little yellow fellows. I'm coaching a coderdojo tomorrow and because it's the 12th dojo for that location (1 year anniversary) we wanted to do something special. So I'm going to bring the UM2. Wanted something to give to the kids when they go home. Since it is all about coding, arduino and lego mindstorm, what better than the ulti-bot Printed (only the yellow ones) with 0.8 nozzle on 0.3mm layers. 15% infill. About 9 minutes per unit (printed them per 10 obviously )
  13. One for the category practical printing: I've shown the print here before, but not "in use". The model on duty is my extremely handsome godchild
  14. Dim3nsioneer: These days nothing is certain and hoaxes lurk around every corner But I've been following the thread and obviously my statement above is based on the assumption that everything being said in there is true
  16. It's not that it will never be there for the UM2, just not from Ultimaker. Creatr Labs ihttp://umforum.ultimaker.com/index.php?/topic/8390-ultimaker-2-dual-extruder-upgrade-creatr-xlabs/ and they seem to be coming along nicely. I think they're just a good solution for the PLA jams away from releasing it. One of the disadvantages of an all metal hotend...
  18. @Mutley3D if you check out the first post you can see 2 bowdens so yes I'm also curious. I wonder how they tackle the problem of having both nozzles at exactly the same height when they use the E3D skrew on nozzles. Do you have to skrew them separately and try to get them perfect, or will you be able to move the hotend up/down...?
  22. Arjan: The regular head for the model is blank, so you can do your own thing: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:170076 This is the head I used: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:164735 Edit: And if you ever receive that fuel3d, let me know how it is. I have the Sense from Cubify and not really enthusiastic about it.
  23. It's 33cm high. The original model claims to be 4 times as tall as the original thing and I printed that model at 200%
  24. Arjan, the original modeler did that for me They are separate objects that you can print in any color you want and just plug in. I'm still not goot enough to do stuff like that.
  25. It's been a while, so time for a post My wife and I coach kids via something that is called Coderdojo. Just wanted to show them what you can do with a 3d printer. My UM2 has been very hard at work at this the last couple of days:
