  1. You can use freeCad to turn a mesh into a solid and export to STEP. Just Google STL to step freeCad and you will get pictorials on how to do it.
  2. It may work but its not advisable as the tolerance of 3mm filament can mean that it ends up larger then 3mm and you will end up with all sorts of issues. Most manufacturers make 2.85mm but advertise it as 3mm so just check with them what the actual size of the filament is.
  3. there will be others who can share a lot more then me on how it all works but In the firmware there is a bowden tube length which is added into the mix. there is also something which adjusts the extruder while accelerating and decelerating but i'm not sure if this is implemented. You can adjust coasting before retracts in 2.XX cura though.

  5. It's not really over locking the machine. It can be as simple as slowing the print down by half then the pla will print to hot for that speed. When it's printing you can go to the tune menu and increase the temp to 235 or something and just do a test. It won't harm your printer by doing this.
  6. Looks like you have the silicon go right up to the tip of the nozzle. If it was up about a mm it may help stop it from going in between. Like you said. It needs to be quite stiff.

  8. If you overheat PLA it becomes quite brittle. Maybe if you print a one shell thickness and print it really hot? you could also use a 0.25mm nozzle. Its not good to overheat it above 240degs though as it can burn in the nozzle
  9. Yes there are other printers like Raise3d But the overall quality of the printers are no way near the UM. Its easy to wack dual extruders on a printer but its hard to make it work well and this is why UM stopped development on the UM2 because they wanted to keep the same print quality as a single extruder machine. Bigger print volume would be nice though.

  12. It's great see that there are user adjustable machine settings when you add a UM2go in CURA 2.3 Could you also allow those of us who have installed an Olsson block to add the Nozzle & Material section to the settings tree.

  16. I had the same issues and gave up trying to use it. I found that vapor treating is faster and has a lot better results.
  17. Have you been able to get it to work without the heated bed? What is the quality like in this case?
  18. Would be nice to be able to use the forum on the app. Something more like WhatsApp where you get phone notifications for new replies on topics you following rather then emails.
  19. You can use either. The glass fiber is just more accurate due to how it's manufacturered and it doesn't matter what wattage heater is pared with it.
  20. Just check the filament to see if it has good indentations from the feeder (about 2 pyramid indent shapes made by side) Do an atomic pull and make sure the nozzle is clean. Next step would be to check the PTFE coupler. For the old UM2 this can sometimes only last 500 hours depending on the material you print with. There are guides how to check it and change it in the support section of the website. If it needs changing then then I would make sure you change it with a TFM coupler from a Ultimaker reseller or TFT coupler from 3dsolex as these can last 2000 hours.
  21. You may not need the treaded standoff 1971. Depends how you will mount the feeder. This is threaded insert for mounting the feeder if you drill holes in the printer back panel. Sounds good that you have a plan.
  22. What speed is you outer and inner walls printed at. There are lots of different speeds that can be adjusted. Try to make the outer wall speed, inner wall speed , print speed and infill speed the same. Your PTFE maybe starting to get deformed but it your outer walls are printing fine then you should be able to get it to print well.
  23. You shouldn't need to keep replacing them. Maybe just replace the grub screw. You could replace it with a black high tensile grub screw that you will be able to tighten it more without damaging the Allen key socket. I would recommend getting the upgrade kit to the new feeder which won't have this problem. If you can't afford the whole kit you could just contact your reseller and get just the new feeder or buy the bontech extruder. They are both a lot better then the original feeder.
