  1. Did you give mine a try? If so how did it compare?

No I havent, I dont have the need for a wrench but thought it would be cool to print theres off and it use as a show piece of what My 3d printer can do.

We seeing im a engineer and most of my friends are 2, its not all that impressive and has a few flaws. I emailed NASA but no reply yet.

  2. Depends what you will be printing. I have a UM2 and have never required extra height. So it could be a waist of money getting the extended. But other people want that extra height to print taller items.

It all come down to what you will use it for.

  3. Seeing how people are still interested in this subject, I just loaded a Mod i did to Roberts Snap-On guide onto Youmagine here: https://www.youmagine.com/designs/feeder-snap-on-guide-with-oiler.

It has a slot to put in a pipe cleaner with a loop at the end. You put some oil on the pipe cleaner then feed it in the slot and your filament pushes through the loop. This oils the filament after the drive wheel. You can also add some more drops of oil as its printing for long prints.

  4. This is not much of a group project. :(

Seeing it's heading into summer here I was hoping there would be a good plan in place so we can all start building some good multirotors.

Thanks for the input of the parts used though. I might just start making my own also.

Does anyone have 3d models of the parts like the motors, apm, gps module etc.. so we can start playing with designs

  5. I had this massive ugly remote to control my garage door opener. it had to find somewhere to keep this big ugly thing in my car and it would rattle around the dash pocket.

It ran on a 9V battery so I got a 12v to 9v dc converter and mounted the remote inside the dash of the car out of sight.

Then I desoldered the micro switch and led then printed a new button to fit into one of the blanks in the cars dash.

here is the Button in place.

  6. HI

The printer does require a bit of tinkering every now and again but its normally very reliable.

I leave mine going over night or when I go to work without any problems.

you don't really need to worry much about it killing its self but there can be a few problem that may occur when your not around but are rear.

1 being the item comes unstuck from the build plate and you end up with a ball of extruded filament

You might also experience material jam or nozzle blockage. This will mean you end up with a half finish product.

just put a few drops of oil on the rods when they get to dry and that's the main thing you will need to do.

  7. Are you still using the stock feeder that came with your machine?

After changing mine to Roberts feeder design and Spool holder I haven't had 1 problem.

20 to 30 hour prints have no issues.

There maybe something else that may also be causing the slippage.

eg. material tangles, deformed teflon insulator etc..
