Also what is the glass temp?

Depends what you will be printing. I have a UM2 and have never required extra height. So it could be a waist of money getting the extended. But other people want that extra height to print taller items.
It all come down to what you will use it for.
-
I printed the one from NASA. its a crap design.
-
even if they make a heated bed upgrade kit it will end up close to the price of a standard UM2. especially with there shipping costs.
-
I read it wrong the first time and thought it came with a heated bed. Thanks for pointing it out. It's a bit of a buzz kill and would have expected it to be a little less expensive because of it.
-
The website doesn't seem to have many specs on the new UM'S. Do they have upgraded feeders or nozzles?
Will the UM2go be upgradable to dual extrusion?
Is the spool holder the same as um2?
-
I like the mini one. will check out the specs when they get around to updating the website.
I have never needed a taller printer than my UM2 but wider would have been nice.

The teflon coupler deforms at the end where it meets the hotend. you can check it by removing it and seeing if the end is squished in or has a lip in the inside. This happened to mine over a month ago and i just re-drilled the hole with the correct size drill bit and it has been working fine ever since.

I wonder if Valcrow made the videos this time. We should interrogate him and see what he knows.

These are a good read. all thanks to IRobertI

Well I don't need to feed it or clean up its poo. Plus it tasted great. :-)

Here's My Happy Corner. I can view the printer from my couch and if the printer is to noisy i just wheel it to a back room.

I have now had the Error - Stopped Heater error, twice. once on 14.12 then I saw this topic so downloaded 14.12.1 and have had it again. I have the fans set to come on 100% at 2mm for gradual increase as I didn't want to trigger the error. Now I have waisted 4m of BronzeFill :(

I just searched Youmagine for the "Useful 3D prints Contest" tags to check out what I would be up against. It gomes up with just about every design on there. obviously everyone thinks their designs are the most useful.
-
Seeing how people are still interested in this subject, I just loaded a Mod i did to Roberts Snap-On guide onto Youmagine here: https://www.youmagine.com/designs/feeder-snap-on-guide-with-oiler.
It has a slot to put in a pipe cleaner with a loop at the end. You put some oil on the pipe cleaner then feed it in the slot and your filament pushes through the loop. This oils the filament after the drive wheel. You can also add some more drops of oil as its printing for long prints.

Ill just tell them its the go fast button or eco mode :-P

yeah it says don't let the picture fool you. so i guessed it wasn't. but would be cool if it was.

This is not much of a group project. :(
Seeing it's heading into summer here I was hoping there would be a good plan in place so we can all start building some good multirotors.
Thanks for the input of the parts used though. I might just start making my own also.
Does anyone have 3d models of the parts like the motors, apm, gps module etc.. so we can start playing with designs

If it is Gold then I'll print myself a mini safe and have mini gold bars.
-
3 is a good number. Means you can have 2 colors with 1 dissolvable material.

I had this massive ugly remote to control my garage door opener. it had to find somewhere to keep this big ugly thing in my car and it would rattle around the dash pocket.
It ran on a 9V battery so I got a 12v to 9v dc converter and mounted the remote inside the dash of the car out of sight.
Then I desoldered the micro switch and led then printed a new button to fit into one of the blanks in the cars dash.
here is the Button in place.

HI
The printer does require a bit of tinkering every now and again but its normally very reliable.
I leave mine going over night or when I go to work without any problems.
you don't really need to worry much about it killing its self but there can be a few problem that may occur when your not around but are rear.
1 being the item comes unstuck from the build plate and you end up with a ball of extruded filament
You might also experience material jam or nozzle blockage. This will mean you end up with a half finish product.
just put a few drops of oil on the rods when they get to dry and that's the main thing you will need to do.
-
Are you still using the stock feeder that came with your machine?
After changing mine to Roberts feeder design and Spool holder I haven't had 1 problem.
20 to 30 hour prints have no issues.
There maybe something else that may also be causing the slippage.
eg. material tangles, deformed teflon insulator etc..

Simular issue discussed here
http://umforum.ultimaker.com/index.php?/topic/7754-skipping-corners-on-spiralize/?p=72378
Haven't tried with 14.12 to see if the same issues are there
NASA does it, it's news ;)

No I havent, I dont have the need for a wrench but thought it would be cool to print theres off and it use as a show piece of what My 3d printer can do.
We seeing im a engineer and most of my friends are 2, its not all that impressive and has a few flaws. I emailed NASA but no reply yet.
