  4. First and second print!

Printed from the SD card for the robot, and used the normal quickprint profile with supports in Cura for the Corn Farmer.
I thought it appropriate to print the Corn Farmer out of PLA for one of my first prints...
Let me know what you all think.

  6. Ecorche model from Rafael Grassetti

I purchased a sculpting tutorial a while back from Rafael Grassetti on Gumroad. He just updated the course a couple weeks back including a beautiful ecorche zbrush model that he made. I've always wanted a big ecorche model for my desk for reference, so I started optimizing it for 3d printing.
This is my first attempt at printing it out.
Tutorial and files can be found here: https://gumroad.com/grassetti
The print failed, but I think it's because I left the geometry really sloppy on the inside of the mesh. The print head ended up running into the model and knocking it over... but I miraculously happened to be standing right there as it happened
Printed on Normal with supports, the model was oriented upside-down so that the arm would have less overhang.

  8. Ultimaker Robot Guts and Maker Globe

Ever wanted to know what makes the Ultimaker robot tick?
I was inspired by illustrations such as this one:
    http://altjapan.typepad.com/.a/6a00d8341bfd2253ef014e8936f006970d-pi
The "maker globe" was created using a NASA satellite image maps of lights on the earth at night in order to generate the gears.  I assumed that the brighter areas on the map would have a greater density of Makers, so there are more gears populating those areas on the globe.  The lines in the oceans were derived from images of shipping lanes.  I wanted to distill the idea of Makers working together and ideas traveling freely across the globe.
I will be sharing these models for everyone to enjoy on youmagine shortly.

  9. Globe with gears

It prints! this was printed at 30% the size of what I had originally modeled it for. I am assuming that the gears and detail will be even better at the larger scale.
I used the normal quick print settings with a couple small adjustments, like adding a Brim.
