  1. Hi, I wanted to download pronterface to get used to it.If I google for 'pronterface' I am linked to www.pronterface.com. If I move to this site I see a tool called 'printrun'. Is printrun the same as pronterface? 2nd question: Is it possible to send a gcode to UM2 using Cura (15.02.1). Thanks...
  2. Hi Dim3nsioneer, thanks for understanding, and if it takes time, no problem I can wait - 3D printing is a slow process as well ;-)
  3. Hi, thanks for reply, the bed is clean and the aluminium is flat under the glass, I checked. I measured also the temeperature on several points of the glass bed it is almost 58-60 degrees. I printed again and watched the first layer, but everything fine. Would it help to increase the bed temperature? Or maybe start manually with a higher bed temperature for the first layer and reduce it after the first layer with the 'tune' function on the UM2? Or ist it better vice versa means start with lower bed temperature and increasing after first layer? Or maybee change my model? The bottom is 1 mm thick, infill 24%. Would it help to increase the thickness or infill? Or vice versa decrease thickness / infill? I just want to know what factors will influence the lifting / warping so I can improve next print. Any ideas are welcome, Thanks!
  4. Hi, since I often do overnight prints with my UM2 I wonder if it is possible to shut down the UM2 after the print has finished. At least I need to turn off the fans especially the very loud middle fan which is always on. Also great would be to turn off LCD display and LED ligths. Is this possible somehow?
  5. Hi Dim3nsioneer, I watched the Github page but seems very complicated to add just a simple feature request. I am also not a member of Github. Could you write for me my request with a pencil on a simple peace of paper like in the good old days? ;-)
  6. Thanks for the replies, I am reassured that others have similar problems ;-). @dirkdirk: What does the M0 do and how do I find the correct line after priming in the gcode to insert the M0? Is there also a gcode command which waits until I press the wheel? BTW, the Robox printer (www.cel-robox.com) has a small rubber plane where the nozzles moves over. This wipes away any left filament from the starting oozing. Something like this would be great for next UM3 ;-)
  7. Hi, today I printed a part but got some warping. See here: As you can see the upper warping is completeley inside the part. Normally I would expect that edges lift up like the warping in the bottom left corner. The material is PLA Innofil pearl white. I printed at 230 degree, bed temp. 60 degree. Layer height 0.2 mm, speed 25mm, infill 24%. The bottom of my part has a thickness of 1mm, the walls 1.6 mm. So the main part is hollow. If I use a brim may it helps against the warping at the corner. But how to get rid of the 'inner' warping? Should I increase bed temp? Thanks for any help...
  8. Hi, I use my UM2 with the latest version of Cura (15.02.1). When the printer has finished heating up it starts to ooze out some filament in the front left corner of the printbed. After around 10 seconds the head moves to the start position and starts printing. During this movement the filament gets dragged over the printbed. Sometimes the filament (coming from the 10 seconds oozing) sticks on the nozzle like a woollen ball and gets dragged along the printing prozess and destroys already printed paths, almost on first layer. The oozing itself is not the problem, since it makes sure material comes out the nozzle. But the dragged filament over the glass plate and also the woollen ball is problematic! I wish to have an additional feature so that the oozing stops after 10 seconds. Then a 'Continue' message will appear on LCD screen. Then the user has enough time to clean the nozzle before the printing really starts. Then he can continue by pressing the wheel. I tried to 'Pause' the print but the pause is delayed so the printhead is already somewhere in the middle of the printbed where it is difficult to clean since it is also very close to the glass surface. How do you deal with that? Is there any way to get rid if that?
  9. Hi nallath, everybody is busy all the time - or not? The question is how high is the priority for such an improvement ;-)
  10. Hi nallath, thanks for reply. But in Cura there could be a setting to set the bottom layer and top layer temperature percent wise. E.g.: Bottom layer temp 105% Top layer temp 107 % For PLA printed normally at 210 ° this will mean: 220.5 ° for bottom layer 224.7 ° for top layer This will work even if the material is changed on the UM2. It just makes sure that bottom and top layers could be printed at different temperatures. It would give much more flexibility to tweak the print process easily since bottom ant top layer need to get special attention. This would be great!
  11. Hi yellowshark, thanks again for your answer!
  12. Hi, I could test another 3D printer (Robox), there it was possible to specify a different nozzle temperature for 1st layer and top layers. This is a really great feature since you can set a higher temperature which makes the paths of 1st and last layer melt very good together so nearly you get one close surface instead of single paths. This would also be great for the Ultimakers!
  13. Hi swordriff, 3Dnerd: Thanks a lot! Every suggestion I get which I CHOOSE to implement, is rewarded with a 3dSolex 040mm Nozzlem when they arrive. You are on the list too! Thanks sounds great - thanks! If the new isolator is available I will order a 3D Solex and then you can put into same parcel. Is there any new information about the isolators?
  14. Hi guys, thanks for making it clear now. I just wonder if Cura calculates all those things why it does not adjust nozzle temperature and print speed according to the choosen lyer thickness? Why I have to reduce prints speed manually?
  15. Hi mnis, thanks for reply. Without any experience I think I will keep with my current settings. I wish also a function where I can specify 1st layer temperature. I would prefer to print 1st layer (and top layer) with slightly higher temperature to make the print paths melting together nicely. As I guess this crrently only possible using TweakAtZ? But this is too complicated/timeconsuming for such 'little' option.
  16. Hi, I wonder why I cannot set the nozzle temperature directly in Cura. If I create a model I directly know which material I will use for printing. It would be great to directly safe the nozzle temperature in the Cura file on SD card and don't have to create/select a material profil on the UM2. Is this possible or not?
  17. Hi swordriff, great news! I took a look, and found some minor issue. On the shop page the product on the bottom is called: 3dSolex JET Nozzle the image shows a single nozzle. But if I click on it I am transfered to the same page as the 'nozzle set'. Is this a bug or a feature? ;-)
  18. Hi guys, thanks for reply, it is a bit more clear now. 1. What I still not understand is one should not increase flow rate if underextrusion happens. Instead the recommened way is t increase print temperature. This I don't understand. If I 'just' increase temperature and feeder is at same speed, then no additional material comes out of the nozzle. The amount of material is same. The material is just hotter. So why increasing temperature works against underextrusion? 2. If I want to print thicker layers then I should reduce printspeed. But if I reduce printspeed then feeder speed is also reduced (as Valcrow mentioned in his 1st paragraph). If both is reduced then the amount of material coming out of the nozzle is also reduced. In my understanding then I don't have enough material for a thicker layer. What is wrong in my thinking?
  19. Dear all, I am still not really clear ybout the relationship between flow rate, print speed and nozzle size. Can someone shed a light on it for me? Here some question I have: 1. Does the feeder motor turn always at same speed for a single print? What I mean is if the filament gets pushed through the bowden always at same speed? Or are there some paths in the gcode where the filament gets faster / slower extruded? 2. If I increase the flow-rate does that mean the feeder motor turns faster? 3. When do we need to increase / decrease flow rate? 4. When do we need increase / decrease printspeed? So basically I don't know the relationship between feeder speed, flow rate, printspeed and layer height. Thanks for any light
  20. Hi gr5 and swordriff, thanks - great, I think with this I can start. So I will wait with ordering until the isolator is available as well. Then I have to pay shipping cost only one time and need to unmount / mount only one time as well. Will someone of you announce here when the new isolator is available or send me an PM?
  21. Hi, @swordriff: Our own design coming out soon Has 025.040.080. Does that mean any of the E3D nozzle can be used with 3DSolex? What is the difference of your nozzles compared to E3D?
  22. Hi, since I am a newbee and don't want to damage anything on my UM2 it would be great if someone from the experts here could provide some easy technical drawing how to correctly mount the 3DSolex. Since I read that it is important to have a gap here but no gap there and so on it is very difficult to understand by text, especially if engils is not the native language. So I really would appreciate any drawing which shows what to put where at which distance and so on. This will lower the hurdle for any user to replace the stock heater by a 3DSolex one. Thanks...
  23. Hi swordriff, What means 3DSolex will not carry 0.6 mm nozzles? Do 0.6 mm nozzles not fit or what does that mean? If 0.25, and 0.4 and 0.8 will work - why 0.6 not? Or do they just not exist?
  25. Hi swordriff, thanks for the detailed reply - indeed it is a great community . Here another 3 questions: 1. Please tell me what does --"-- mean? I still need an answer where to get the other nozzles from. Particularily I am interested in 0.6 and 0.8 mm ones. 2. Will the isolator be sold by the same companies like the 3DSolex "The Olsson Block"? If yes I will wait until the isolator will be available to save some shipping ocst. 3. I visited http://3dverkstan.se but could not find the 3DSolex in theri shop - do I have to contact them by eMail? (unfortunately the site is in swedish only )
