  1. Front cover recreation no.7..

A comic book cover pose recreation minus the clothes and mic, lol but im still practicing.... clothes come later its an old print before i installed my ob and reprints resulted in faliure for some reason and split in many places during my acetone treatment. followed by the usual treatment of plating afterwards that i always do.

  2. Gold Chrome buddha mashup (cracked!)

My first Zbrush experiment, turned out great apart from the stupid crack i really wasnt too bothered about being a test, i hope my printer will last long enough to do a few more prints before i need to change the coupler!

  3. Groovy hand mk2

A hollowed out revised version of the groovy hand now mk2 with details removed to see what it could look like, almost finished the enable version which is basically just new fingers and a revised raptor reloaded main hand. Making cool working hands with fingers and even the prosthetic ones is very time consuming and difficult due to all the joins and width limitations i'm learning a lot of things on the mechanical side of things which is interesting, I had to compromise a lot compared to simple sculpts. The pinky is overlapping in this print but I threw a patina on it as it makes it look older and cooler in my opinion.
Another Colorfabb Dutch Orange for those interested. printed with 0.8 shell which is my new norm compared to 1.2, and hollow with supports. pics above.

  4. Groovy hand.

A quick hand sculpt from a classic scene (i did the face as well but it needs work and i printed it at the wrong scale). might make it into a full prosthetic if i have time.

  5. Hair test subject

Was going to use this for my galvanising tutorial as I modelled it to be tall and thin so that it fits into my beaker of copper sulphate, but my printer is not working correctly after a refurb effort, Im still currently trying to resolve the yo-yo up and down temperature issue as it causes quite severe lines on the surface of the model even though it looks OK from afar...... not touching the fan base, and sensor appears to be pushed all the way, will fiddle around for a while before I ask for help.....again, lol.

  9. Iron Budda with rust patina.

Bit too much rust patina on this one and it even started to shine, lol so applied a green patina, but as it was an iron/varnish mix and not copper/varnish it just went rusty not green/blue.Still looks cool, and just adding more are more patina makes it cooler by the day. Next time i will selectively add the patina rather than just dousing the entire thing in it.

no cleaning done at all, just acetoned, so bits of pla here and there from the lack of retraction even though it was turned on?
    a fun job again.

  11. Laberns shroud in copper for UM2

just a test to see if the plate is enough to stop any warping, my early tests showed it should work, but im not sure if the fact its copper and conducts heat well will be an issue that effects the print? might be better might be worse, its very light so that is a plus!
the coat is not ideal and imperfect due to its size, but as an experiment......ill allow it.

  13. Metal coating tests gone wrong but look interesting anyway.

Iron and Copper tests, with only one coat and no processing, i.e. painted and left no post work on the coatings. will play with washes and drybrushing later. copper looks very much like clay!! for those interested.

  15. My first 123D work mate in a copper coating, second attempt.

No patina this time round, just a black wash and very lightly sanded down on the original varnish and copper mix i made. no fancy paints here. Next text will be with fancy paints, but to tell you the truth i dont think they will look much better. Well happy with this effect. Even though it looks more bronze than copper.
I also went kinda heavy with the coating as i did no post processing what so ever, just undercoat spray for the paint to stick on, no acetone or sanding at all. While printing it suffered from jammed filament on the roll syndrome so skipped a few layers printing nothing, never again since. I don't print off the roll anymore ever.

  16. My mate coated in copper varnish.

copper varnish mix coating applied. look kinda like clay!!
Was very poor quality print so the thick layer masks it quite nicely. have loads more to do but experimenting on the one with most lines in them.

  17. My work colleagues

Havenst posted here in a while, but just a bunch of rough quick prints of the team of people I work with, all made with remake or memento or whatever, shame they discontinued the mac version as it was free! lol no more, will have to find a new quick method now. Photoscan is a lot longer than rekmake. Then sprayed with various undercoat brands of paint for experimentation. will post a few close ups if I have them as I've given all these to their respective selfs.

  18. No sanding acetone PLA paint test

Here is a piece (not modelled) not sanded at all, half dipped in acetone for 25secs and then sprayed with undercoat primer, and then with gold paint. I think it illustrates how nicely acetone smooths Ultimaker Blue PLA, shame it is apparently no longer available. I still have a bit thank god, and some green which also appears unavailable. I wonder if the new UM BLue available is just as good chemically to react to acetone as the old one that came with the printer. If not thats a VERY big shame.
Just thought i would post this in case people wonder how the surface of PLA can easily be smoothed whilst still keeping most detail unlike ABS. A step that is essential if you plan on painting your creations and do not want the model covered in distracting print lines.
You can do this with color-fabb PLA as well but it takes longer and does not wipe as many lines away.

  19. Painted 1986 Unicron

I reprinted my unicron model because I felt like painting it, but seeing as I haven't painted minatures in like 25 years i'm not that good anymore the acetoning was also too much and it cracked after spraying for some reason, but it serves its purpose. will do one with led eyes and a battery next after some remodelling.
ive been away too long and feel like i need to start over.....:(

  21. Plate Test Girl no.2

Just another plate test after thinning my paint seeing if it still works and cleaning my copper sulphate solution through activated carbon and filtering it after. Seems to work ok but still broke in a few places because I was very rough with the wire brush which i should not have really used and just stuck to the wire wool, but it was very difficult to get into the part under the hair... Patina stages also shown. Really like the detail in the hair.

  24. Tigris of Gaul

Sorry for the lame photo, but I demolished this one experimenting on it a few hours later, lol. Obviously from the Gladiator movie, not perfect but you get the drift. Might do a moving version, if i have time, but this one is all one print, no gluing or construction.

  25. Tigris Plate test

    Lots of pics...
Just a quick attempt at acid plating on a failed model (split) after a break from it. but it failed because the copper I'm using is of a different grade than it should be and it just goes weird. Still learning here, just dug up my airbrush from 15 years ago and it still works!!! silver coated before electro bath and voltage was probably too high too. Im gonna try brush plating next. Due to the complete contamination of both copper and solution, a decent plate is not possible anymore but ill keep going till I get nothing.
Gonna do a vid/thread later about this but i need to figure out whats going wrong first!
