[duty cost to Canada]

Bought one directly from Ultimaker:

Ordered Feb 13, Shipped Mar 6, received Mar 10, 2015

Euro 1895 + 73 shipping = $2878 Cdn

Tax + Duty = $386 Cdn

This works out to the Ontario 13% HST + a small brokerage fee (with 0% duty)

Can anyone share there experience with importing UM2 to Canada? :cool:

Please specify distributor, shipper, and duty charged.

So far, I have only be able to established that Makershed charges $779 U.S. for pre-paid VAT on UM2 to Ontario, which works out to 18% duty after subtracting 13% HST for Ontario.

On the other hand, dutycalculator.com lists the import duty on UM2 to Canada at 0%.

A related question is whether there really should be a duty on UM2 to Canada. Several posters on this forum have stated that there is Not a duty to the U.S., although there may be a minor importation charge, if they order direct from Ultimaker.

Hopefully, we can clarify these issues so that future purchasers of UM2 can avoid unnecessary duties up to 20% or at least know in advance what to expect.

Alternatively, a Canadian distributor may be needed.
