Does anyone have any first hand experience with the after market parts from GR5 and 3dSolex? Specifically I want to know about the following parts. - I2K INSULATOR - DUPTEF COUPLERS - STEEL COUPLER V2 I recently replaced my PTFE coupler for the first time and it was a raging pain in bum. This is annoying because I have only had the printer for a few months and I haven't printed anything but PLA. One time I did screw up and accidentally cook my PLA at ABS temps (230c). But that was just one time. What material is the I2K Insulator made from? Does anyone have anything good or bad to say about these? Do they actually help prolong the life of the PTFE coupler? Do they have any affect on the prints?

Better feeder. There seem to be several good options out there. Sensor that detects if the filament has stopped moving. Filament guides with bearings. Free spinning spool holder. Optional enclosure for ABS. Mount the motors outside of the print volume so that enclosing it doesn't pose as much risk to overheating the motors. Easy to remove nozzle. Better control knob. Some way to track how much filament you still have on a spool. Filament cleaner/lubricator. Auto-OFF feature that will turn off the machine when prints are done and the hot end is cooled off. Quick change PTFE Isolator Coupler. I can live with out WiFi.

Over night print still going. Pearl White PLA from ultimaker. Default (Ultimaker2 config) settings from Simplify 3D. FAST setting.

I for one find it annoying. Each user should not have to reinvent the wheel in regards to the printer settings. The filament manufacturers should give more in depth printer setting guidelines for the major 3D printers on the market. I understand that there are new 3D printers coming out all the time, but there are definitely a few that are dominating the market (Ultimaker, Makerbot, Printrbot, Flashforge, etc) I am not in this to tinker with settings. I am in this to make parts. The 3D printer companies and filament companies should be working together to tinker with settings so that the end users can make good parts faster. Again, I must praise the Ultimaker brand PLA filament. It works (so far). Right out of the box, using the default (Ultimaker2 config) settings from Simplify 3D. I am sure there are other brands out there that work, and I can probably fiddle with the settings to make the MakerGeek stuff work, but why risk wasting all that time. 3D printing isn't exactly fast. I might try some other stuff eventually, but I am probably going to stick with the Ultimaker brand stuff for a while.

I have tried using the makergeek brand filament. It had good reviews online.... But I keep getting nozzle clogs. Way more that I did with the Ultimaker brand filament that was shipped with the machine. I tried this print twice, and both times it nozzle clogged after about and inch. I ordered some more Ultimaker filament and is it happily chugging away. Have any body else had experience with the MakerGeek filament. Suggestions.

Does anybody else use a fan to cool parts down after they are done printing? I find this makes them easier to remove from the print bed. I could just wait longer, but I am impatient. Is there any reason this is a bad idea? Eventually I plan to get a second build plate so I can swap them out.

OK, I'm new. I think I want to try one of the improved fan mounts people have made. Does anybody have experience comparing them. A lot of them look similar. Is there one that stands out above the rest? What material would you recommend making the fan mount out of? Is there a high temp filament? I do not have the Olsson Hot End. The answer is probably a big NO, but.... Is there any kind of "database" out there for different types/brand of filaments? Specifically, what settings to use (temps, speeds, support offsets, blah, blah). (This would probably have to cross reference with what machine you are using) Just curious. I have an Ultimaker2, and it came with some PLA. Using the default settings in S3D, the Ultimaker brand PLA printed fine. Pretty happy experience. I bought some filament from MakerGeek. One spool of MakerGeek PLA and one spool of Form Futura EasyFil PLA. And things are different. All three behave differently. Of course they do, they are slightly different plastics. Anyway. I am new and wanted to make sure that I wasn't overlooking an obvious resource if one existed. Thanks.
