  1. If you actually want to code, you need to understand python. If you only want to change how the UI and UX looks like, you should have a look at the .qml files that are shipped with cura (and the theme.json file). Those describe how the UI looks. But we do need more resources on how to get started with developing for Cura. I'd love to have more people outside of Ultimaker to work with. Diversity will lead to a better overall product (both for Ultimaker and for those with other printers). that's great. didn't realise I could eventually do some UI design too because this is what I would like to do too.
  2. I think a lot of them could benefit from it. You already named a few, but i've myself already used it to repair the wheelchair of my niece (an arm rest had broken off and it would have costed a few hundred euro and weeks to fix it. I could do it in one day for a few euro) I think that imagination is the only limit. for the partial to none sighted people aids that make items some easily manipulated or found. For deaf people using color and system to highlight something has happened. for the physically impaired there is already a huge modding culture. there is no end to the possibilities just the limitation of the means to achieve them
  3. What's the address ?? bridging settings speed, infill and orientation etc...
  4. We are working on some more resources for that. It's up to @msuurmond to give us some more time for that But if people have questions, i'm always open to answer questions. I'd recommend looking at our current plugins and work from there. sorry what I meant was; it was mentioned that people can develop their own plugin or mess around with the software to help achieve features the are looking for in the slicer. And I was wondering how I could learn this. I am assuming that understanding Python would be one thing, but I would like to be able to do some creative work to see if I can achieve what I want.
  5. If i'd know that I would have sent the 1000 jaffa cake box lol
  6. Like @nallath said Manual Support is something that is difficult to create UX wise. Apart from that I don't think people want to do manual support. They have to do it because automatic support isn't up to par (and we still can't print in mid-air). I want us to have auto-support that is better than manual support. That might be very difficult to achieve, but I think that if we take small steps that constantly improve our auto support (like the gradual infill in 2.7), we will get there. with manual supports I found that I used it more for getting rid of unnecessary supports. this being supports that appear in a 3mm x 10mm screw hole. I tried to get rid of them in cura but I couldn't seem to find the setting that had any influence on it. I did try a lot of settings lol
  7. If I wanted to learn how to create and develop cura for things I am interested in where would I go to learn how to do this and what is the best starting point?
  8. Hiya, I have been very impressed with cura, I have been using S3D for years and now find that Cura has jumped into the arena just short of S3D but close enough to have made me use Cura more than S3D. Just in case I miss this I thought I put a starter for 10. for both Cura and Ultimaker, why is it taking so long to introduce new nozzle sizes on the UM3. I am desperate to have the ability to have 0.15 but at least 0.25mm. maybe the ability to create a nozzle profile section allowing users to define their own. Do you guys think that it's possible to hand the end user control of nozzle size? The other thing I was wondering was; if there is going to be a consideration towards bridging function, especially speed setting. many thanks and hope to still manage to be at the AMA Rebekah Anderson
  9. @dennispo hiya, I have no idea. I don't have a measuring device. I am a heavy home user where the printer is going all day every day with little down time. the blockage is cause for two reason; Too hot or moisture. if using cura heat shouldn't be a problem so moisture is the go to problem. I think any level of moisture will at some point cause an issue as it is accumulative. so short of Sahara dry condition we will struggle at some point eventually. kind regards rebekah anderson
  10. Hiya, pretty much my story too. took ages although I used a strand from my wire brush to poke. but I am glad to see you got somewhere. if you put your build plate to 40 deg and place your PVA on some card board and put it inside. if you haven't got an enclosure I would consider covering the machine with a towel for an hour. then make a setup similar to mine or even print off the reel cover and add a tube then put it all in a sealed bag. you will find it will be fine. just every couple of prints, do a hot/cold pull. aim is to minimise the exposure to the air and keeping the core clean. I have had mine for 3 weeks and not one blockage.
  11. do you recon bridging speed will be considered along with related bridging settings?
  12. Hiya, Not sure if this is the right place to suggest it but I think one big thing that is missing is a speed setting for overhangs/unsupported areas. maybe adding a bridging function in quality and speed. consideration should be given to the control of the orientation/angle of the lines printed if possible to the orentation of the gap to be bridged (shortest length) so far I have not had any issues with the BETA. many thanks Rebekah Anderson
  13. Thank you @SandervG. I hope so. I think moisture is the primary cause of everyone's problems. I might strip my old on out to see how we can resolve it once the problem exists because £114,- is a lot to spend on something that you assumed worked straight out of the box. (which I did) could you apply a supplier warning or a sticker on the UM3 to emphasise the need to ensure a controlled environment for the PVA? just so that new buyers fully realise the gravity of moisture and PVA.
  14. hiya, as you can see here, they are seperated between the version.
  15. age could be a factor if it's got moisture in it. PVA will go powdery at high temperatures. so I think the 260 was not a good idea. in the maintenance part of the menu there is the hot and cold pull. I recommend you use that. at least you can blame Ultimaker. I use PLA for the hot and cold pull. insert and use pliers to force it through. if nothing comes out use a strand from a wire brush and poke the nozzle. I think you'll be a while doing it again and again. I sometimes vigourously move the PLA in and out the extruder (2 or 3 times) then press hard and yank out. do this a couple of times and then cold pull as per the machine's direction. then do the hot pull again. you'll have to do this quite a few time unless you get this. Please take your time and do this a lot. even if it looks like its free flowing, keep doing it cause there should be a lot of brown PVA in there. +- 10mm of the nozzle worth. I don't think the problem is the feeder but a consequence. Please use this Reel casing this is until I make and test a new and better one. hope you manage to sort it out. it isn't lost just needs patience and time spent on clearing the blockage. 16. I have found that on win 10, the version number is on the icon.
  17. Hiya, I have found the window a bit over filled. I am not sure what happened but I would like to see more room for the settings so I can see more in one go. here is something that I threw together as an idea. hope this is something others like and is possible. using the Cura logo as a fly out for the main menu features and the layer control panel in layer view to be free floating or something that could be minimised with only the slider visible.
  18. Hiya, I have been one of many struggling with PVA absorbing moisture ad dessamating the nozzle. so here is my solution that I will give a go once I have the quote and recieved the acrylic parts. as an interim i created this pva-reel-casing there is little friction but works well, I have been printing over a week now and it's still achieving good prints. but I want something with a bit more elegance and also will make more for other filaments as I have added runners to the base so I can slot the case into a rack. (one for storage and the other for printing) I will be sharing the new one once I have finished it and used it for a bit. enjoy Rebekah Anderson
  19. hiya, I might be a bit late with this question but who is your audience and what is the expected assumed knowledge with IT ability? Rebekah Anderson
  20. Hiya, I just wanted to know if the extruder 2 settings in cura will relate when using it as support, when using support there are a lot of settings within extruder 1 panel. the query relates to the quality settings mainly. when using support function, will the quality settings in extruder 2 panel influence the overall support settings primarily line width. this would also lead to other aspects of the extruder 2 panel. many thanks Rebekah Anderson
  21. Hiya, unfortunately I don't have a spare printer to do testing although I'd love to. however, I have use the seperate Z-offset on it's own when I changed extruder no 2 followed by xy calibration. it cuts out manual bed levelling from the process as No 1 extruder is already level. unless the function takes up space I don't think there is a need to remove it. Maybe reorganise the menu tree but other than that not sure what the need is to remove it. the following: "A correction is made for the right nozzle temperature to improve printing quality" considering that the right slot is for PVA, what is the impact of this. is there a stability issue? other than that it looks good, will look forward to what else comes out for improvement. Bex
  22. Hiya, here is the FFF. should be available to download. check the tool change in the script tab. it does pause for a while when changing tools but that's because it doesn't predict the change and hence, unlike cura, doesn't heat up the print core before the tool change takes place. S3D FFF file let me know if it downloads ok. if it doesn't I'll copy the script for you to put into the script tab. Bex
  23. Hiya , I also made this: https://www.youmagine.com/designs/pva-reel-casing and set it up like this I've not had issues since. I do hot and cold pulls regularly too. I found that it still builds up pva inside the core but not as quick and not as bad as before. always good operator practice to keep it clean. as you have had problems I'd spend a good hour doing a lot of hot and cold pulls just to get it clean again. hope it works out. Bex
  24. in S3D I use 2 bottom layers and 3 top layers. at 0.1mm layer height I used infill every 2 layers. 100% extrusion 50mm/sec what material you using? do you need support? if so I have a FFF file for UM3 with edited script for the change nozzle, heat and heat standby. as I found it doesn't wait to heat the nozzle before printing.
