Moisture, dust, ease of filament change. Yea I missed out on the UM2+ extended for $1500.I sure my machine is years old, sat in a box somewhere. It doesn't have the extra filament guide or the hole for it.

Who's the guy who just got a new Ultimaker 2 for a $1000. off of e-bay? That right this guy! Yes! after unpacking it, I really think this thing just sat somewhere in it's box. If I'm right it only has a 1 hour print time on it. and 19 hours on time. ED

I have experience with both type of machines. Ultimaker way better machine. You won't have any problem moving onto Ultimaker's . ED

We don't have such a big issue with oozing..we have a brief pause about 5s, the nozzle gets ready and then we print the wipe tower/skirt. Really enjoyed this thread, thanks everyone . I don't like the tower method I see the nozzle cross over the print to get the tower. could drop filament scraps on print. The purge walls makerbot uses i think works better than that. ED

I think there's a wide spread consensus dual extrusion without a lifting system or separate heads does not work..... don't think we need to waste a lot of time discussing a quad head without a lifting system .... apart from that you only have a connection for 2 heaters/extruders on an UM2 so you would need to get very creative on the electronics side... all most all beds lose heat at the edges. that will cause prints to curl .Ed

I would point out ultimaker 2 extended with 3 rolls,600 hours print time went for under $1500 on ebay . If pay day came sooner it would have been mine. :-) Ed

Looking for for a used UM my self. Budget is always a concern. Saw one here in PDX sold. so bummed out it wasn't on craigslist, PDX home of craigslist.. LOL One thing I worry about is getting a china clone. How can you tell them apart from pic's? Ed
