  1. Hello All, I have been using Fusio360 for years, last year I paid for a years subscription and only used it a few times, they renewal is up and they want £380+ for another year (£500 for a new subscription)

I am just not going to pay that for what little I use it

what alternatives do people use? a bit of googling found DesignSpark Mechanical, Solid Edge Community Edition and FreeCAD

I am really not looking forward to a new learning curve, fusion was hard enough to transition from the other Autodesk software I used (cant remember what it was or why I had to move to Fusion)

    Thanks

  3. Hello I just fount a really bad bug on my Ultimaker 2+

this has actually happened twice, the first time I thought I had moved the spinwheel or done something wrong but not this time....

I am printing with PETG so on warm up I wanted to give a few extra seconds for the filament to heat up and flow better so after selecting the print the build plate heats up then the nozzle heats up and just as it almost reached temperature and the hotend started moving I hit pause,

this caused the steppers to go into a fit, it all happened so fast I cant really say what happened but everthing was in the wrong place and after some panic and trying to abort the hotend moved into position and the build plate raised past its normal position and hit the nozzle HARD,

many horrible sounds later I managed to abort the print. the nozzle had damaged the brand new used twice magnetic build plate which is ruined and god knows what other damage has occurred, it would have smashed the glass I think has the new ziflex not been on there

yes the build plate was adjusted properly

so please can I have a response from the Ultimaker team on this??

    have I cause more damage??

please dont tune or pause until the print is underway!!

can ultimaker release a fix for this?

    thanks

  4. Hi All, I have just tried make a fast print profile and found that for the first time at the start of a print it extrudes in the front left corner as usual but then the build plate raises crashing the nozzle into the extruded filament before moving to the start of the print taking the coil of extrusion with it.

This has never happened before and unfortunately just before I thought of asking on the forum I deleted the profile, I still have a GCode for that print if it helps isolate the issue, the profile had quite a lot of changes to the settings!!

also I only have the three profiles (Extra fine, fine and normal) is there anywhere I can download more? a google found nothing out there

    thanks

I think, you should consider to change the Gcode flavor for your UM2 to "Marlin" (it's in the "Machine Settings" of Cura).
Afterwards only the material settings from Cura will be used and the settings on the printer do not matter anymore.

this is excellent, thanks for letting me know, its really changed my printing although I have to do some serious tweaks to my print profiles. also I cannot seem to save a customer profile from current settings, it goes through the motions just doesn't save it...

  6. Hi Geert, I think of static but I would expect it to discharge and damage the board permanently, I also tried to flee the board outside of the box but nothing really happened, I will get a meeter and see whats actually happening, this could change my design somewhat or at least my material (if I can figure out these material profile thingies)
