  1. I understand this question will raise some hackles on this form that is not my intent I am mostly a Ultimaker shop with six of my fourteen printers being Ultimaker right now.

    I am adding a new Printer in May, I was ready to plop down for the S5 Pro bundle I was waiting hoping a S5+ or S6 would be announced but I heard nothing but crickets. Then I heard about the Raise3d Pro 3 it ticked a few boxes that knocked them off my list last year and at half the price the ROI is hard to beat.

    I know the ins and outs of my Ultimaker printers, I know what tweaks I must do to Model XXX to make it come out correctly, but the dollar is king, and half the price is a hard decision to make. I posted a few questions on the Rasie3d forums in Feb and in over two hundred views not a single reply, which is a con to me I know this post will have replied in an hour because Ultimaker forums are active and have an involved community. All rambling aside this printer will be ear marked for dual material engineering items with close tolerances and print in place movement, I am working on contracts that will tie it up for a few months 24x7 I do not have time to purchase a printer that I have to futz around with.

    If anyone here knows the raise Ecosystem and can give some InSite or has or have used the Pro3 I would love to hear from you.

  2. I own and have owned many printers I always come back to Ultimaker, are they perfect NOPE!, but to me they are like my Old 79 Jimmy they just work, they don’t let me down, rain or shine they just work, sure nothing fancy like power windows but they always get me where I need to be and back. None of my ULtimaker printers have ever failed a print that wasn’t my fault for not keeping the bed clean or forgetting to close the bed clips,  and I have never seen half a good print in the morning only to come home from work to half a print with a Bob Ross hairdo.

    I have owned two CB printers and if the CEO of CB sent me their new flag ship printer hand delievered by the Swedish binkini team they could stay but I would refuse the printer.

    My Taz 6 is rock soild (as long as I keep the touch point clean)

    All of my Ultimaker printers if the first layer has issue they always have issues, they don’t change they are just stable. All of the Sub 1k printers I have will very depending on their mood, so are of just no use to me, if I know model 18XU597 needs a tweak to the first layer I can make that tweak if I have to tweak it differently everytime it is of no use to me.

    So I don’t mind paying the Ultimaker preinum price.

    Sure I would love faster, bigger, or more nozzels, or a more robust movement system, heck I would pay an extra three grand if UM had a tool changer with out even complaining once.

    Congratulations on an excellent rant.

    So what did you end up with (if I might be so as bold to ask)?

    Well the CB3 and CBFI were printers #13 and #14, Both replaced with S5's and all of my printers are listed or have been sold now, I gave a local 3d printer I know all my light customers and I am switching to SLS because all the customers I kept want functional prototypes.

    This thread seems to have gone cold. Any tips on a Cura profile for Craftbots?

    All I can say is I purchased a Craftbot III and a Flow IDEX, they were the biggest POS’s I have ever had the displeasure of wasting money on, the support I got was complete and utter garbage. And just to twist the knife a bit more they wouldn’t tag the FLOW IDEX as defective so I had to eat a restocking fee which is why I refuse to EVER own a CrapBot Blow IDIC machine or anything with Craftbot’s name on it ever again. And the restocking fee upset me so much it broke a relationship with MatterHackers I won’t shop there again.

    So this is not defective

    Hard locked 32% into a print with Craftbots Filament and slicer

    Craftbot Flow IDEX Locked up and frozen - YouTube

    Best dual color prints I ever got out of the CBFI out of 58 tries again with their filament and slicer

    Dual color tries 1 to 58 - YouTube

    BL Touch Error right out of the box (still not defective as per CraftBot)

    Dual Color Printing yes this is worth the 3k I spent

    HULU Mode enabled - YouTube

  6. Do to issues I won't go into here I find myself with a New Sealed Ultimaker 3  never opened sealed, in Oregon Not sure if I want to sell it or keep it till I need a 16th Printer, figured I would ask here as this forum was always good to me.

    I don't really want to ship but I can if I have too. looking for a solid offer in US dollars.

  7. HEHEH, Mine does, don't worry I'll take safety measures like I always do.

    I'll wrap some stripped 14/2 around my leg and ground it to a bathtub full of saltwater, durning a thunderstorm 🙂

    I'll always touch the printer with both hands 🙂

    I'll never use a grounded or insulated tool 🙂

    I rewired my whole house and passed inspection on the first try I think I'll be okay, but think of it this way if I blow up the printer I'll have to get a new one from you 🙂

  8. Drat I think something happen in shipping, the ethernet port doesn't work the USB and WIFI does. I do like to use ethernet for all of my printers, Anyone happen to know if the ethernet port is attached to the mainboard by a ribbon cable that could have come loose in shipping? I hate to take it apart if it is going to be a major repair.

    I offer non-warranty repairs at our facility if that's something you need; you can check us out at fbrc8.com.

    There is no maintenance kit for the S5, but if I was putting one together, here's what I would include:
    * Nozzle seals
    * Bowden tubes
    * Collets and Clips
    * Sliding Block Set
    * Short Belts
    * Front Fan

    The parts are all available and that list should pretty much cover wear and tear items, though if you've only run through five rolls of filament I wouldn't expect most of those to need replacing yet. What sort of issues are you seeing?

    Not seeing any issues the printer is not here yet but this is a used machine which I would normally not buy but the price was too good to pass up with 190m and 230M of filament usage and saving over a grand off the new price plus it was sold with filament and extra Hot ends.

    I should have enough capicorn XS to replace the tubes the rest I'll order if/when needed

  10. Okay after a horrid horrid horrid try at using a Craftbot it is going back to the hell that spawned it and S5 #2 is winging its way to me as we speak. It is used with less then five rolls of filament passed through it, so I am not worried but just in case anyone know of a refurb service for S5 or better yet a Maint Kit for the S5 I checked MH and Dy nothing found.

  11. I tried a few different  horizontal expansion settings and I also imported a profile from Smithy’s

    Tried printing at .15 and .2

    20% infill

    Pattern Triangles

    Zhop enabled

    speed 30

    No Support

    No Adhesion

    Infil skin wall and jerk at 30 or lower, I am using -.

    -.04, and-.05 for my expansion

    I dropped the extruder 5c

    I changed the first layer to 100 not 1.05

    Line width is has been tried at .35 and .4

    Tried, all three of my .4 nozzles

    Tried my .25 nozzle

    Imported Smithy’s profile and tried his

    I only use PLA and Tough PLA and Only Ultimaker branded

    I used an Exacto knife and thin metal blades to reach between the petals and cubes all I did was cut my fingers
