  1. I'm also having weird issues with 4.5 startup speed. It's quite odd, if I load some STL files it will load almost instantly. Try others and it grind away forever and is using a huge amount of RAM (even more than Chrome!!!).  File size doesn't seem to be a factor as larger files will often open much more quickly than smaller files. I have disabled the network plugin mentioned previously to no effect.

     Anybody find a solution?

  2. Hi All

I'm running a UM3, and have been having trouble when changing material. When it comes to the menu for material selection, it reads the nfc tag on the PVA I have in Extruder two, but the spool I have in Extruder 1 doesn't show up (no surprise, no nfc tag on that one). No problem, but when  I try to manually select the material, the menu flashes back to the display showing what material is selected before I can read or scroll through the list. Firmware is up to date. No other issues I am aware of. Frustrating because I can select the proper material (PLA) for Extruder 1.

    Any ideas?

  3. I think I finally have a resolution. After many attempts at fixing Cura, I finally formatted the USB key I was using, downloaded the firmware updates again, and updated the printer firmware again. The files must have been corrupted or something went wrong in the first firmware update, as things seem to be working fine now.

    Hope this helps someone else.

  4. I'm getting some problems here. I updated to 3.3.1 today, and did a firmware update for our Ultimaker 3. My old gcode files seem to work fine, but the new files are appended with a '.gz' file extension. If I open the file in notepad, the content is chinese(?) characters and empty blocks.Partial example below

     This doesn't seem right.....

If I try to start a print it generates an er26 message. If I delete the .gz extension and save with a gcode extension, the file appears empty. If I try to run it, the printer starts but goes directly to 'Print finished' message. Anyone know what might be going on?

Same thing seems to be going on in my dump log ('.gz' file and chinese characters)

P.S. Sorry if this is a duplicate, I tried to reply in the 'Multiple error codes' thread initially.

  5. Hi All

I have just started using 3.2.1, and noticed a small 'bug' (actually a user error) that causes a bit of annoyance. If I load a new model, and try the layer view before slicing, the previously loaded and cleared model appears over top of the new one. I know I shouldn't try to view layers before slicing, but maybe some sort of error message could prevent this?

  6. I sure don't mind doing that. Can you point me to the config file or what the extension is?

To the powers that be, would it be possible to enable the 'print one at a time' sequence for the condition of printing with one extruder, and disable it if two are being used? That would seem (on the surface) to be a quick work around.

  7. Hello

I'm using Cura 2.7 and a UM3. I'm printing some shapes from PVA and would like to print them 'one at a time' to avoid stringing as the nozzle move from part to part. There is lots of room, but I can't get the option to show up in the settings. The box is checked for visibility, but is not visible in the settings panel. Anyone know what might be wrong?

  8. Hi All

When I import an object into Cura 2.4 it is often not in the best orientation for printing. I use the rotate feature to turn it to a better orientation. The trouble I'm having, is that if I turn it in one axis, and then use the 'Layflat' button to be sure it is sitting flat on the buildplate, it is turned some random amount around the vertical axis. This is frustrating if I am trying to orient a part to another so they can share a support tower, or to make room for other objects. Is this normal behaviour?

  9. I've had this problem as well. Could it be related to the fact that two reply text boxes open when you use the reply function? Using Chrome here.

P.S. took three tries to get this to go. Had to cut and paste the quotes to put them in the text box at the bottom of the page and write my reply there.

Four time now (and I've only been on this forum a few days), I have composed a lengthy missive full of interesting information - only to click on "Post", before checking the I'm not a Robot box!

All gone! Have to start again!

My apologies to all who have got a terse and tetchy reply...

  11. Hi all

I have been using our new Ultimaker 3 with varied success, but have consistently had problems with support structures. What has been happening pretty consistently is that the support tower does not bond well to the buildplate, and is knocked over during the printing, resulting in a big mess of PVA bits.

Is there a way to provide a bigger footprint at the buildplate for the PVA support? I feel like that would help a lot with this problem. But just as likely I am just too inexperienced at this point.

Using Cura 2.4(beta) and the Ultimaker supplied PLA and PVA.
