  1. Sorry for the delay. I got my build plate onto a machinist inspection table and it looks like the flatness is within 0.18mm. I marked my plate's edge in one corner and I'm going to start experimenting with orientations. I'll let you know what I can find.
  2. I'm having an issue where the print bed is seemingly not level. I can't print anything toward the back of the build plate because the extruder touches the glass and no material gets extruded. Then once the extruder comes farther forward, it makes up for lost time and extrudes enough material to make the nearby landfill salivate. You can see in the picture how the brim is translucent near the back of the print but nice and dark near the front. I've done manual leveling several times, meticulously following the directions trying to fix it. The machine then active-levels and starts printing. Same problem every time. I've been able to minimize the problem by only printing toward the front of the build plate and gotten some successful prints that way, but I can't figure out what's wrong and this severely limits what I'm able to do with a brand new UM3e. Am I doing something wrong?
  3. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I've had this problem using Cura 2.4.0 a few times but I've also been using Cura 2.5B and haven't seen it in the beta yet. If it helps to know, I have Windows 7x64 and a UM3e. Are there known conditions that cause it or is it a true gremlin in the system?
  4. Sometimes when I save a project, it gives me an error: "Could not save to C:\ ... \*.curaproject.3mf: maximum recursion depth exceeded". Has anyone else seen this error or know what causes it? It will still create a file but Cura will not reopen it. Thanks in advance
  5. This has happened several times now and can't seem to fix it. My supports will not adhere when printed on top of the model. look at the top right of the picture. There's a slot in that piece and the support block that's supposed to fill it detached. It looks like it caused the print head to jam and offset the rest of the print. What am I doing wrong? I'm using an Ultimaker 3e with UM Black ABS. I have Cura 2.4 and I printed using the default settings except I added a support interface layer. I solved the issues I was having with prints not adhering well to the build plate by enclosing the entire printer to keep out any air currents and stabilize the chamber temperature.
  6. I'm using Cura 2.4 with an Ultimaker 3 Extended for engineering and concept / prototype models. When I set up a print, I often do a lot of customization in the print parameters - layer thickness, infill geometry, prime tower location, support infill shape and density, interface layers and so on. When I save a project file (File > Save Project), it seems the only thing that gets saved is the build plate layout and none of these settings are included in the *.curaproject.3mf file. I'd really like to save these files along with my other development files so that coworkers can easily reproduce my results. However, without the customized settings being included, the project file is only half of what they would need. Am I doing something wrong when saving the project file or does Cura 2.4 not support saving custom settings? It would make the process much more user-friendly for our application if this were possible. Thanks in advance
  7. This is the Prime Tower which is used to make sure your extruder is primed before starting on the print. It's just a place for the machine to deposit some material so you don't get gaps in your print. Cura generates it when using dual extrusion. You'll notice that it disappears if you print supports using the same material as the model. You can override this setting by going to Custom > Dual Extrusion > Enable Prime Tower
