I have a Ultimaker 3 extended and having the same exact issue. Will be following to see if there is a solution.

Thought I would share this. Wanted to make a door without using hinges or drilling. Instead I used the lip that is at the top of the printer for the door. I used a laser cutter to cut my door and the 2 top pieces of acrylic. Easy to remove no drilling or hinges required. " />.jpg~original" />" />
