  1. Slashee, CUQ Thanks for your responses. I figured it out. If you have your "Color Scheme" in Preview set to "Line Type", it does not separate colors by material. If you change it to "Material Color", then it shows what I was expecting to see. So it was working all along, I just needed a different point of view. 🙂 Again, Thanks!
  2. Cuq, Thanks for your response. Would it be possible for you to send me your .3mf file?
  3. I'm trying to understand the "Generate Interlocking Structure" and associated settings but I can't seem to get the results I'd expect. In my efforts to understand things, I downloaded the Crocodile Clip .3mf file and tried to duplicate the results. As you can see, my results are very different from the feature introduction article https://ultimaker.com/learn/unlock-true-multi-material-printing-with-ultimaker-cura-5-3/. This would obviously not function as desired. I'm running Version 5.5 on a Mac if that makes any difference. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  4. Thank you for your response. I was able to print my parts by disconnecting the material station, inserting a "change Filament" command and swiping out spools in the back of the S5. It works but it's a lot a trouble. My question is why, or rather why not? Since it can already change spools for the empty case, it seems that it wouldn't be hard to implement firmware for a color change?
  5. When using an S5-Pro, allow a method for changing spools at a specific layer. For example, a color change. It seems that if it can change spools when one goes empty, it should be a fairly simple process to allow the insertion of a bit of G-code to instruct a material change.
  6. I can't seem to find how, in Cura, to have the S5 with Material Station change materials (colors) at a specific layer. I'm wanting to print with 4 colors thus changing to the second extruder won't do it and it seems that with the Material Station I should be able to switch material bays? There's bound to be a way???? Thanks for your help!
  7. When I download a new Material Profiles, it seems that in many cases, I still need to set several overrides to handle the situation I have. For example, a different nozzle size. It seems that when you download a Material Profile, there ought to be multiple Print Profiles to go with it. Similar to the Ultimaker Print Profiles list. Or am I missing something? Thanks
  8. SOLD! I'm selling my Ultimaker 3. It's working great, has been well maintained, and includes all the parts and pieces that came with it. This includes: 1 - AA 0.4mm Print Core 1 - BB 0.4mm Print Core 2 - Glass Build Plates 1 - Plastic Front Enclosure 1 - NFC Spool Holder 1- Power Supply And a few spare consumable parts and the original packaging. The unit is located in Abilene Texas and I'm asking $1625 and the buyer pays the shipping cost. I will consider other reasonable offers. Let me know if you have questions.
  9. Hi Ulrich, Thanks for your reply. Would you mind clarifying your statement, "If you rebuild on the spool holder...". I'm not clear on what this means? Also, do you have a suggestion for a work around to use a material that is not marked as compatible with the Material Station? Thanks again!
  10. I am trying to print with Fiberforce Nylforce Glass Filled material on a S5 Pro. I installed the material profile from the Ultimaker Marketplace. When I try to print, I get an ER64 message saying that the material is incompatible with the Material Station. Much to my dismay, after reviewing the Marketplace Tech sheet for the Nylforce GF is says that it is not compatible with the Material Station. 1) Why would a material be incompatible with the Material Station? I tried to work around this by finding a GF nylon material from the Marketplace that is compatible with the Material Station. This works, but at the end of each print, it shows this message: "The material seems to be stuck in print core 1. Start the wizard to safely remove the material and continue print." The material is easily removed and does not seem to be stuck. It has done this several times. 2) What's going on? 3) Is there a better work around? 4) With a Material Station, is there a way to use the "on the back spool holder"? I couldn't seem to find a way in the S5 software to do this. Thanks for your help
  11. Mari, Great article. But, I'm having trouble figuring out where to buy these filaments. Thanks
  12. I saw this, but I couldn't seem to find a place to buy the material they used.
  13. I have an S5 and I need to discover the strongest filament I can get. I'm assuming that is either a glass filled or carbon fiber nylon. There are so many choices. What are the best brands of these materials and do I need a special support material? It would be nice if these were supported in the Ultimaker Market Place but that's not a requirement. Or , if there's something else I should try, let me know. I'l; be using a CC 0.6mm Print core. Thanks
  14. I want to try printing some composite materials on an S5. Do I want a CC .4mm or a CC .6mm? I get that it depends on the feature size, but how small do the features need to be to require the .4mm nozzle?
  15. Thank you. I'm not using the Digital Factory, so that's a good suggestion.
  16. My UM3 has started regularly displaying the message: "To confirm the connection with this printer, use code ######". I don't know what this means or where to enter the code. It's annoying me!
  17. Ultimaker wouldn't make it so my "old UM3" won't support materials syncing... would they?????😝
  18. Thanks for your response dsp. That's what I've been doing too, but I have to do an "Override" every time I start a print. And in the documentation I've reviewed, it indicates that I ought to be able to sync the materials in Cura with the UM3. Thus, I was trying to figure out why I can't get that to work.
  19. Thanks for your assistance Andrew. Mine does not have the Sync button? I'm running Cura Version 5.1.0. Also, what does the "Activate" selection do?
  20. I feel like I'm being an idiot by asking this but... I'm trying to use a non- Ultimaker material. I found a profile for it in Cura and thought I sent it to the printer. When I go to Select the Material in the load process it's not there. Only the Generics are there. What am I missing? Thanks
  21. I'm printing with PLA using a 0.4 nozzle in the Fast mode and the layers are not sticking together. It sticks to the build plate and the part, which is about 400 mm high, does print. To my dismay, when I take the part off the build plate it just crumbles in my hands spliting across the layers at several levels It also appears that the vertical walls did not bond to each other or to the infill. I'm thinking this is only happening in the Fast mode. Any suggestions as too where I should start looking would be appreciated. Thanks
  22. Using the latest version of Cura has resolved it completely for me. Even on the second monitor.
