  1. If the variant files are present and formatted correctly in the correct folder, the printer definition will start to work as expected when Cura launches. Have you created extruder variants as well?
  2. There are no nozzle profiles present for this definition. These would need to be added to your installation before various nozzle sizes appear. Some clues are in the documentation here: https://github.com/Ultimaker/Cura/wiki/Profiles-&-Settings#variant https://github.com/Ultimaker/Cura/tree/master/resources/variants Ideally this definition should be updated by someone in the community - and when tested and working - submitted to us a pull request. We can then merge the changes and ship it in future Cura versions so that it works out of the box. We w
  3. Hello @WeberUlti Since we launched Essentials we're now only making .msi builds for that. The reasoning behind this is .msi installs are mostly useful for companies, and we want them to use Essentials. We'll also need to get all the builds signed which can take extra time. For what reason do you need the .msi? Perhaps there's something we can do.
  4. We're considering updating some settings and descriptions, I made a thread here. Feedback appreciated!
  5. Ultimaker Cura has hundreds of configurable slicing settings in custom mode. If you mouse hover over a particular setting, a description of what the setting does will appear. You can also search for a particular setting using the search bar to get what you need quickly and easily. In an upcoming release, we've also made each setting's description searchable for more ease-of-use. @ghostkeeper has also made a plugin that you can download from the Ultimaker Marketplace that adds even more description to each setting. BUT: Are there settings n
  6. Gefeliciteerd! Where would Cura be without you? 😉
  7. Perhaps I have misunderstood what you mean. Are you able to explain in more detail how and why you'd like to do it this way?
  8. Sounds like a 3mf project file would achieve this.
  9. Can you give some more details about your setup? Is the origin intended to be in the rear corner, or did you configure this in firmware? This could be something that can be fixed in firmware/stepper motor wiring.
  10. Forgot to say: to understand what's actually happening here, at least one of you should share a log file so we can analyze it. Details of how to do this are here: https://github.com/Ultimaker/Cura#logging-issues
  11. There's probably something incompatible in the settings stack. IIRC the Artillery Sidewinder X1 profile is a manually added profile that was developed for 4.2 I think, so doesn't really adhere to the settings requirements of the latest version (4.6.1. at the time of writing). New stuff has been added to the settings stack, such as Intent based profiles, which is probably breaking this, hence the crash. If you look here, you can see the settings requirements for machine definitions https://github.com/Ultimaker/Cura/wiki/Adding-new-machine-profiles-to-Cura I've said
  12. Thanks for reporting this @srkinard. A log would be useful! Our devs are more likely to look at our GitHub issue tracker, so if you can post a report there that would be great https://github.com/Ultimaker/Cura/issues/new/choose
  13. Thanks for the report. Are you using multiple monitors? Can you share a log with me? https://github.com/Ultimaker/Cura#logging-issues It's best to report this on GitHub https://github.com/Ultimaker/Cura/issues/new/choose
  14. Are you exporting them from CAD software? Can you share a 3mf project file? (File > Save as...)
  15. That's weird. Upload a project file and I can take a look? (File > Save...) I have a feeling this is a firmware issue with Ender 3 machines, I seem to remember something similar reported before...
  16. Sounds like you've enabled a post processing script when slicing. Did you do this?
  17. Check if your bed is level. In the top area the nozzle is squeezed right up against the bed, and therefore extruding less, which creates this effect.
  18. We prefer feature requests for Cura to come in through GitHub. If this is something you'd like considered, submit it here: https://github.com/Ultimaker/Cura/issues/new?assignees=&labels=Type%3A+New+Feature&template=feature_request.md&title=
  19. Cura is an open source software, if we modify it, does the printer let us upgrade to our version? Cura is open source software so yes you can modify it and it will still work with the printer (provided you didn't break any of the core components). In the future we will need to control the printer, in a simple way (may be just send it some command to start a "production"), with a PLC, can we modify the software to achieve this? or modify the software in that way? Is now possible to do that? Depending on what you're trying to do, you could probably make a plugin to carry out
  20. https://github.com/Ultimaker/Cura/wiki/Adding-new-machine-profiles-to-Cura See above for instructions of how to add a third-party printer to Cura. We don't develop or maintain definitions for third-party machines (doing so would be a monumental task for our small development team when you factor in the amount of machines out there, maintenance, and QA). Someone in the community will need to create it, test it, and submit it, we can then review the pull request and pull it into the source if it meets our standards.
  21. Are you able to try this in 4.6.1? Some issues relating to 'ugly prints' have been resolved since 4.3.
  22. Ah I see. The post processing plugin is indeed a plugin. Within this particular plugin you can add python scripts that will post process your GCode as it exits CuraEngine. You can see them here https://github.com/Ultimaker/Cura/tree/master/plugins/PostProcessingPlugin More recently when we refer to plugins we refer to the ones distributed through the Marketplace, which behave a little differently. That's what I was talking about above (and I'd still love to hear what ideas you might have for documentation there).
  23. Currently we have a wiki on GitHub https://github.com/Ultimaker/Cura/wiki/Creating-Packages I'd really like to do something more comprehensive than this though, so your suggestions are noted and I'm watching this thread. We were already banding some ideas about this around, maybe something like a readthedocs template. What would you like to see?
  24. The SDK versions determine which versions of Cura your package will be compatible with. It goes like this: (SDK|Cura version) 5.0.0 | 3.5.0+ 6.0.0 | 4.0.0+ 6.1.0 | 4.1.0+ 6.2.0 | 4.2.0+ 6.3.0 | 4.3.0+ 7.0.0 | 4.4.0+ 7.1.0 | 4.5.0+ 7.2.0 | 4.6.0+ EDIT: just found a bug in our forum I think 😄
  25. An AA core isn't recommended. You'll need to use a CC core with composite materials, it has an abrasion-resistant bore hole and different internals. This blog explains in some detail https://ultimaker.com/learn/introducing-more-high-performance-materials-software-updates-and-print-core
