  1. Any update on this from UM ?, they say that is there is enough demand for a feature then it will get added ???, i cannot see how anyone who uses a FDM printer doesn't want to see at the very least what layer you are printing, the whole technology is based on it.... I wonder if the UI team have ever actually used a FDM printer ?, every other printer on the market has things like layer number, temperatures, speed etc etc on the home home screen for the simple reason these need to be there and are used all the time !. having to go into the 'tune' menu all the time is painful and seem
  2. Indeed, but golden rule of software development is never do a release on a Friday if you don't plan on working for 2 days ! 😉🤪
  3. @ahoeben indeed, yes, signing out and also turning off check for updates at startup removes the annoying check. i will check out your plugin, sounds interesting, forgive me for the basic question, but what is it designed to go ?
  4. not seen any response from any of the UM team yet ?, looks like a widespread problem....
  5. Nope, that's the problem, you can't remove UM material profiles. I don't use ABS either!
  6. Seems something has happened with UM publishig their material profile update for ABS, it just keeps saying there is an update, you sync, quit Cura and it does the same again, syncing or updating the ABS profile won't clear !!
  7. I have been looking at this, not sure its the right way to do it, there are certain variables that are not present for the second extruder even when the settings are 100% the same, copying them over manually takes a load of settings which could not be present if managed by Cura. @SandervG, @CarloK, @territerriterri - could you one you please comment on the validity of this way to copy the settings ? Thanks
  8. many thanks, i am on Mac, anyway to do the same ?
  9. @territerriterri is there any update on this please ?, i am still finding it increasingly painful to just set the second extruder with the same settings as the first, i have to go one setting at a time and inevitably miss some, its extremely painful ! Many thanks
  10. i am getting stuttering on my S5, always have to some extent, but sometimes worse than others, see the attached image, i have read its related to the ability of the S5 to process the commands, i have let cura set the max dev and resolution numbers but still get stuttering, not great for such an expensive printer. See the image of the stutters causing blobs, always in the same place every 20 layers or so, i would assume the commands are overflowing the que at this point. @bagel-orb any ideas ?, latest S5 firmware 5.12 thanks
  11. The way I managed to get round this was to lower the print temps, the s5 actually needs fair bit lower temps than my 2+ did for the same material, maybe its the doors on the front, maybe the print cores, anyway, I print petg at about 215-220 and it works a treat.
  12. Hi, has there been any update on this, its such a pain on a dual extrusion printer to have to manually copy your optimised settings to the second extruder, not to mention the time taken to do this, its also prone to error when you miss a setting Can this please be added asap ?! thanks
  13. Thanks, I have a S5, but sounds like it shouldn't be an issue to do myself?
  14. has anyone changed the print head bearings on the 3 or the S5 (assuming the process would be the same), how difficult was it ?, any guides ? Thanks
  15. i have noticed the 10mm rods on my S5 have slight scratches in them. If i run my nail over them i can feel they are actually grooved slightly into the rod. I thought these were hardened rods ?, anyone else noticed this, they aren't particularly deep at moment but still i wasn't expecting to see any marks on them, maybe i just never noticed them on my 2+. I always keep the rods well oiled with the supplied thin oil.
  16. The whole point of the Airmanager is to reduce UFPs, opening the doors to the lid defeats the purpose. There have been a number of studies which have said that even PLA gives off a fair amount of UFPs. Unfortunately it also said that a normal HEPA filter like that in the air manager didn't work that well in filtering the really small ones which actually passthrough the linings of your lungs and into your blood stream.... A filter actually capable of removing UPS to a level which would make the value of UFPs negligible is very expensive.... really does seem like the industry needs a workable so
  17. i did read some concerns about the air manager being able to keep the build chamber temp down low enough for PLA for example, also some people where saying when printing PLA is was really really loud as the extractor fan had to run full speed to try and keep the build volumes temperature down low enough ? I like the idea of it and was tempted to get one but it sounded like a good solution for ABS but a compromise for more regular materials....
  18. @robinmdh is there any reason to upgrade to this from 2.11 if you don't have material station or air manager ?
  19. Agree, don't go above .11 unless you have the air manger etc and have to upgrade. I am not sure why UM have so many problems with the firmware after .11 but when I upgraded the nozzle got rammed into the bed first time it ran !
  20. Yes, thanks, I fully appreciate you have done this to help (and is appreciated) you obviously don't want to be accountable for bricking peoples printers. It would be really really useful to get this sort of thing added under an official switch in the settings. It really is needed as no 3d printer is simply plug and play, as good as the S5 is, you still need to debug some prints as there are so many variables which can produce a variation in result over using the default profiles the UI guys think everyone can just use these default profiles and everything works perfectly 😀🙃, I wis
  21. Ok, thanks. This purge function sounds useful. Will it be added to a standalone S5 ?
  22. Thanks for doing this, really good of you to take it upon yourself to help out, however whilst i am more than comfortably with performing the steps, as you can imagine with these printers being so expensive doing something like this (which may brick it) is not really a comfortable situation. But it is exactly this type of addition which we so badly need. I cannot see why the UI guys cant add these under a seperate setting people can add. They obviously don't print much themselves if they feel you dont need to know the layer height, its a key value which you can directly correlate back to Cura,
  23. when you say new purge behaviour what are you referring to ? thanks
