  1. A bit unsure of the exact interpretation of >or the Boolean is incomplete, the software can tell the gap is there OR the model is comprised of multiple meshes. All parts is overlapping with good margin, three watertight object. >That indicates that the boolean operation wasn't complete The uploaded file (UM3_capV2.3) is NOT merged, though I tried that earlier, same bad result. Merged and simplified (middle out-cut), imported STL to fomrZ it looks OK: But still gets threaded... I then created three new from scratch, unmerged, merged and one single extrusion from profile: All looks quite good, no big diff. A complete new solid from new identical profile, and back to GO. Obviously it is something in just this shape that makes it go wrong... GV_capv2.3mf Comes out perfect! So I then opened the original NOT merged with your settings and that also came out fine! This settings is a keeper :-) Now I have to figure out exactly what setting(s) did what I could not achieve. Thanks! /BK
  2. Do I tried MS 3D but got no error indication (or I missed how to check for errors). What would be the best way to do a test (preferably local and MacOS)? I really would like to be able to check my STL files as it obviously can sneak in undetected errors.
  3. Well, it looks like I have to let the printer though the firewall and upgrade firmware (it would complicate stuff as I changed some settings in the code) to get a new profile for my S3 (or some alternative). As all works great (for years) I will just stay with 5.5 (If it aint broke...), or even go back to 5.4 where preference setting is working 100%. Though, I am still curious why my Shapr3D generates a faulty STL (and even an updated Simplify3D 5.12 with a fresh S3 profil is at error). I have downloaded the MS 3D Builder to have a look. And experiment with some new created similar objects. Thank you all for your efforts looking in to this.
  4. I tried to export a new STL in a latest version of Shapr3D, even merged to a solid object. Exporting a STEP to FormZ and the export a STL, all gives the same error. Importing in Simplify3D renders the same travel error and some more, se screen-dump I will have to figure out how and why there is an error in the STL (I found no indication of this in any program that I have) What is 'Switching to my Ender'?
  5. Combing Mode All (or any) Layer Start X, Layer Start Y, to Z-seam locations (or default) No luck, bad travel. Strange. 3mf uploaded UM3_capv2.3mf
  6. Thanks for the advice! But I already tried all thinkable settings with Combing Mode and got no better result. I will have another look even though all is workin perfect with 5.5. (its is quite cumbersome to exeperiment with different settings as I, for meny versions back, have trouble that the Sttings men y and icon gets unresponive after fistr run and force me to restart Cura.) But that aside, I find the difference between 5.5 and 5.6 default behaviour's puzzling.
  7. Default settings, importing STL gives unusable print in 6.5 as the inside needs to be clan from 'threads' (printing with elastic PLA) v5.5 does it right. (I can not find any setting for this.) MacOS 12/M2
  8. I thought I could use a 0,4 and a 0,25 on an U3 in that way that I cut the stl at a height and used the heads in sequence. But any way I try I get no alternative other than Profile 0,1mm for both heads (after installing 0,25). Is there a way to do this? Or do I need to set all Quality, Top/Bottoms etc manually? (I tried Simplify3D and that works in theory and generate a gcode that looks perfekt but then then heads and/or prints are (also internally) offset and totally messed up even if i compensate for it). Thanks/ Bo
  9. I asked some weeks ago when I first heard of it. But my distributor could not answer: is this supposed to fit a U3, or is it only S5? I print carbon fiber with a 0.8 that I expect will wear out (and to be regularly replaced).
  10. OK, so let me opt-in to a charge (I don't grasp the impractical view). Try $1,000.00. Give me (and some others) a (practical) choice, keep 10.9.5 running for five more years. No? That's OK. I may then find other software that does. Or not. Still I _am_ resisting this; upgrade OS - upgrade hardware (throw working stuff in bin) - upgrade OS - upgrade app - cirkus. I _know_ I will lose in the end, and rebuild it all. But then over a 10-15-year cycle I will have less problem (less emoijs, hands-of, silly stuff) but a stable environment that works with what I already got. I am not saying that working for all foreseeable future with 3.4.1 (as a 'workaround') is a bad thing (even though some bug fix would be nice), it's more that I'd like to point out that att least one single user is here and stuck wit 10.9.5. (And regarding 32b, I am not suggesting you suport MacOS9 on my Pismo either... that would be rather silly).
  11. Well, of topic sort of, but 10.9.5 is optimal on our hardware (even though 10.6.8 was even better we do have replaced it except on our servers). To go to a later system would brake tons of intricate software solutions and the gain (new fancy 'hands of' etc) would be 100% non productive (and also hundred of hours replacing software). We can survive without emojs and Apple applications. Instead of spending hours of continuos configuring and upgrades, tens of thousands $ investments in hardware we focus on our work. From time to time we loose an upgrade path such as photoshop, lightroom etc. But then the loss is often just some uninteresting feature. I expect 10.9.5 is here (for us) for at least 6+ more years. I do expect, for example, FormZ or Simplify3D to be frozen in some year or so, but again, they are rock solid and complete as they are. Still, if I can push for 10.9.5, as in this forum, I will. (We do have some (isolated) WIN95 and MacOS9 running!) Sorry for the OT.
  12. Thanks for the link. Sad if this really is the end of line. I am 'stuck' at 10.9.5. But it should not be impossible, there still some great complicated software still in development for 10.9.5 (for example FormZ). I may have to go back to Simplify3D that I left when I bought the UM3 (if this keeps evolving in my environment).
  13. 3.5, 3,5.1 beta (181012) and 3.5.1 quits on start. No log, no trace. Fresh install on OS X 10.9.5 (NIVIDA GeForce 9600 GT) As noted before 3.4.1 is fine (with some limitations).
  14. 3.5 quits on start. Fresh install on OS X 10.9.5 (NIVIDA GeForce 9600 GT) Going back to 3.4.1 is fine (with some limitations).
  15. Looks good indeed, I figure I will use both as sometimes a critical function or parameter is missing. My first was to adjust the support in areas where I needed to drop some extras in a hollow. I expect fin find use for both. Especially after years with Simple3D. Sad though that there are no direct connection over LAN/WiFi. By the way, I have not seen this mention anywhere. I often speed-cooled my previous machines prints by a freezer spary. I have now expanded the use to get things off the glass when it sticks to good (even after cooling down completely), some PLA that i use is really sticky. Just a firm short spray (-51C°) here and there and everything is easy to gently loosen without any damages. It even pops of by itself! Next test is to run the gizmos with support in the dishwasher....
  16. OK, admit being a bit grumpy... I tried lowering the plate to a maximum, it seems to have worked (at least once). Thank you all! My fault (?) was to assume that half way between maximum and minimum would be a good starting point (as an engineer that is). Now I have been struggling with Simplify3D that zeroes to negativ value (drive belt jumping) and to make PVA stick like PLA... an complete different story.
  17. Had mine delivered yesterday, fails 100% ungracefully. I can hear the z engine trying to crush the printhead and when in front, the plate clearly gets angled by the force. Not a good start. (I am not new to 3D print, I have been printing for several years and built and modified several printers), And yes, tried all by instructions/solutions, to no avail. I had to disable the auto leveling to get my first test print. So I figure from this thread that this is one fancy function to tick of the list of this premium printer as dysfunctional. I will see how it works in other areas, considering a return.
