    CURA knocking over the top of the part when finish printing Plate goes up a nd down

    Hello, Please help

     

    After finishing printing the build plate goes up and then down again knocking over the top of the part.

    Any idea why this is happening?

    I am using an Ultimaker3 printer and the latest version of CURA.

    The firmware has been reset but it is still it.

    See what happens at the end of the print. The build plate goes up and then down. This was only a small test file and been shorter it is not knocking the top of the part. When printing taller files it seams to be more of a problem

    ASA filament from Filamentum with CURA market place profile

    Hello everyone 🙂

    I am printing ASA filament from Filamentum with the CURA market place profile. Using a 0.8mm Nozzle in VASE mode with an Ultimaker 3.

    Apparently 0.8mm nozzle it is not recommended by CURA when I selected it. I though I give it a try and all in all it has work well.

     

    The only issue I had is this building up or material around the nozzle (see picture). It is printing in VASE mode so I had no pauses during the printing.

    Maybe I am printing too slow? 20mm/s

    Maybe too much flow? 100%

    What would you guys recommend?

    Great advice thank you very much. I have been using the Filamentum profile from Ultimaker market place. I have increased the bed temperature from 90 to 105, I have been using PrintaFix instead of the glue stick and it seams have done the trick 🙂

    I am very happy, it is a good material to use for functional prototypes and good to simulate clips design and so on.

    Thank you for your help. really appreciate it.

    The only problem I had was this (see picture). There seams to be a build up of material around the nozzle. is it  too much flow? printing too slow maybe?

    @Fulv - I don't think I have ever printed ASA and it's not on the Ultimaker list of common materials (maybe because it's very difficult to print?) but I heard that it's similar to ABS.  So the trick to ABS is to be above it's softening temp.  I would put a bit of filament on the heated bed under a towel and try different temps until it softens significantly.  Supposedly this is at 105C.  Then I would make sure the bed is slightly above this temp so probably at 110C.  This will greatly reduce the lifting forces as often parts come loose at the corners first.

     

    Also use brim.

     

    Also make sure it's squishing the bottom layer thoroughly

     

    Also use a wet tissue and spread around the gluestick (and also remove most of it).  With gluestick, the thinner the layer, the more parts stick to it (counter intuitive).  Although obviously when all the gluestick is gone it stops working.

    Hello,

     

    I saw this post today thanks.

    I have a question if I may.
    I am printing ASA filament from Filamentum for the first time on my Ultimaker 3 printer using the cura profile download it from the marketplace.

    In my first 2 tests I have been having problems to make it stick to the glass plate using a glue stick. 
    what should I use instead? Any suggestions?

    Hello there,

     

    I hope you can help me here.

    I need to print with Ultimaker PC filament  with my Ultimaker 3 printer and I am getting an error message because the build plate is taking to long to reach the correct temperature that in this case is 107 degrees.

    I am using the advance printing kit with the front plastic cover and the room where the printer is is more than 20 degrees.

     

    Any tips and advises?

    Simple Z hopping option in CURA

    Hello everyone,

    is there an option in CURA where simply the Z hopping is ONLY happening when the nozzle is moving from one part to another?

    I am printing 10 parts at the same time, they are all the same shape and size See picture attached.

    If there is such an option, could you please reply with the exact settings?

    I have successfully printed one at the time and also 3 at the time without any problems so far.

    I am now going to try to print 4 but I am adding a z hopping of 2mm (with combine off).

    if this works, I feel confident that I can print 10 parts at the time.

    I am using the ultimaker advance kit which consists of the front cover and the ultimaker adhesive sheet.

    Any comments, tips or advise are very welcome :)

    I need to print 10 small parts on the same build plate and before I start printing them I would like to know if any of you has any tips to give me especially about the setting for the Z hopping.

    I am using an Ultimaker 3 printer

    Material is the Ultimaker PC in white

    Printing Woodfill materials on the Ultimaker 3

    Hello everyone.

    I would like to print Woodfill filaments with my Ultimaker 3.

    -- Has any of you done that?

    -- Did you use an original Ultimaker print-core or a 3D Solex one?

    -- What filaments have you used and which one would you recommend?

    and finally

    -- Why Ultimaker doesn't have steel nozzles printcores for the ultimaker 3 (to use with abrasive materials)?

    Thank you for your reply.

    I don't think it is an ice nozzle, it came with the set of 4 nozzles when you buy the 3d solex print core. (see picture attached).

    I don' t know if you remember but I did have allot of problems with my first 3d solex print-core. There was something wrong with it in more than one way.

    When I have contacted 3d solex and explain the problems I was having, Carl told me straight away that he was going to send me a new Print-core and to keep the old one.

     

    On top of that he sent me a free Sapphire 0.5mm nozzle.

    Even that one sticks with this material.

    I will try an ice nozzle and see what happens.
