@DanielHolmSweden Super glue works fine, stay away from hot glue though. I really like the idea of lowered walls on the interior. I am also wondering what is your layer height and youy top/bottom layer height?

    Thanks for sharing.

Great project! It looks like the floor on your second photo is under extruded, is it not? You may want to try to make the top layers thicker so the infill doesn't shine through.

Do you have an example of the blue print drawing you want to lay out on the floor? Sounds interesting!

Your are right its under extruded, doesent matter much when it comeds to the floor because I will Tile them:)

  4. Pool area , windows, the basement I might skip. And then it’s time for textures.

i have understood glue is a popular subject here. I would like try out superglue with spray accelerator

  5. Hi guys! I am not completely new in 3D printing, bought my Ultimaker2 couple of years ago and its been unused for a year until now.

What I learned is many things by that and one thing is that open PLA filament ageing! the xy steelarms needed to have some oil but then everything was up and spinning again.

I printing scale model of a new built villa. 33 more to go!

One of them I du in the maximum size printer allows me to. I just drop the parts in Cura and Print. Remember if you have several of parts to print make a reference frame to with each part. otherwise I noticed that scale not will be right. When I split models to create a bigger one I do "tung and groves" They then snap nice together without need glue.

In the staircase it was tricky, but I did holes to put in a piece of filament string, remember do the hole slightly bigger:) Happy printing guys.TracePoints_Stairs.thumb.jpg.58e2a3d043df30339fff9a86028d82f9.jpg

The algorithm could be much better.  Cura puts the estimated total time and the total number of layers in a comment at the top of the gcode file.

UM2 firmware (incorrectly) assumes each layer will take the same amount of time.  The firmware measure how long the layers have taken so far and how many layers have printed and how long the estimation is and tries to correct the estimation.  It shouldn't correct because the estimate from cura is usually spot on.

So if your print is for example pyramid shaped with a wide base and narrow top, then the printer will over estimate.

If your print is say like a table with many quick layers printing only 4 legs and then some very slow layers on top, the printer will under estimate.

Ideally cura should put an estimate of progress in a comment at the start of EVERY layer and the firmware should be able to compare that to actual time and update the estimated total time.  But it doesn't.

Every day new members join our community. Some pop in for just a few questions and others hang around for a longer time and become 3D printing experts themselves. But with so much movement, I thought it would be nice see where we stand today and gain some new insights. So, for what purpose do you 3D print?

I started of doing prototypes of furniture with mostly reason to understand the printing process and how to create files. Now I print models of house projects for developers showroom.

  8. Hi, @SandervG and everybody:) I tried do the way I explained and with the model I at this moment do and most often are the case its not any problem at all, and yes its PLA I use. model I doing is houses with big "footprints"  Now I restarted it and it worked but because of other circumstances I had to restart the printing.

I found a problem in the filament coils that they have been rolled up in a way that the filament got stucked! There should be a sensor that notice that the material doesn't feed instead of continue print empty and therefore loose track!

I also noticed that after PLA have been unpacked it ages, loose its flexibility and easier get stuck.

Now I restarted with a new fresh roll.

  9. To print a model can take some time and it could be very noisy when you live in a Studio like I do. I decide to test first cool down the nozzle and the plate, when cooled down I turn off the fan and LED light. My plan is to adjust back the settings tomorrow and continue from where I paused. Is this possible?

What happen if there is a power cut when printing? Is all the work wasted?

In Spain it happen even if not very often like in old days.

    / Daniel
