  1. Hi, I'm having problems with either CURA or my ultimaker S5 and UM3 printers printing parts oversized, for instance a dimension modelled at 19mm is actually coming out as 19.28mm, a dimension dimensioned at 6.36mm comes out as 6.78mm. This means nothing fits together and sliding surfaces just jam. I'm trying to develop spacecraft mechanisms and trial them with 3d printed parts, but it's just not working and in fact the metal prototype parts are being delivered before I can get the plastic models working. I'm using 0.4 nozzles, mostly standard settings. I also have access to a stratasys and makerbot method X, both of which are printing my parts more accuracy than the Ultimakers are. Is there a simple setting to tune the size of parts, obviously scale won't work. I am no 3d printing guru and I have very little time, I just need them to work. Thanks people
  2. Hi Ultimaker People, Is there a way to print the edge layer detail at a finer layer height than internal structural material. for example on a simple round shaft placed vertically on the bedplate, could I print the external surface edges at a0.05mm layer height and then the internal material at a thicker 0.1mm layer height or even 0.2mm height. Obviously internal thicker layer height would have to be a multiple of the finer edge layer height and the finer edge layers would need to print first both the functional material and dissociable support material.
  3. Hi Ultimaker people, I've had no end of trouble with prints not sticking to the bedplate, PLA in particular, thoroughly washing the glass with washing up liquid and water, IPA and so on, rising it down with water but prints just kept lifting. UNTIL that is; I started washing and rinsing the glass bedplate with water from my Britax water filter. Now it works perfectly every time. I simply give it a good scrub with a washing up sponge and fairy liquid and then a good rinse, only using filtered water from my Britax water filter. Anyone else had the same problems, I'm assuming the salts in tap water were depositing themselves in a thin layer on the top surface of the glass
  4. It's an Ultimaker 2+. I just need Cura to import the generic PETG profile correctly. However Ultimaker should consider supporting PETG, it seems like a a really good material to me. Thanks ctbeke
  5. Same with me. PETG generic is the issue. I've disables norton auto-protect & firewall on my computer, I have no other virus checkers Plus even though it says it's installed each time PETG generic material is not there to be selected. I'm using ABS selection to print PETG, seems to work for now.
