    Just as an alternative idea, recess the lettering into the print instead of it being proud, then thickness becomes less of an issue.

    I've had a similar issue in the past and found that the spool diameter was set to 2.85 instead of what I was using - 1.75. Might be worth checking in Cura that the correct diameter is set.
