On our S5 printer we are now experimenting with printing ABS on one extruder. The build plate temperature for this material is higher than that of PLA (85 instead of 60). On the other extruder we are still using PLA. In cura the build plate temperature is set to the material that demands the highest (ABS in this case) for both printer profiles. Due to this one of our pure PLA prints faild miserably due to warping. Is there a way to make this setting switch according to the extruder settings of the objects that are placed in CURA (so that only when ABS is actually selected for the print, the build plate temperature is highered.)? Or do you have any other tips for how to deal with this?

The problem probably had to do with the rubber protection around the nozzle that has been broken. I ordered a replacement, hopefully this will fix the problem!

I have a strange problem with warping. Ever since we have an air manager on our S5 warping on the parts seems to have increased. See this image of a badly warped part. This was printed in using 'fine' settings with 'Jupiter' PLA with the heat bed temp on 65 C and the fan speed to 50%. As an adhesive I used hair spray. Any other things I should defintely try? Thanks in advance!

Why would you go for this CC-core now? Do you notice any problems with the z-height calibration of the 3D Solex core? -

Ah that is disappointing. Not being able to replace the ultimaker nozzle in the core is a design choice I can not understand. Is this purely for business reasons or is there any mechanical advantage? The core seems to be working again fortunately. But for any further prints with the abrasive material I will look into the 3DSolex core, thanks for the tip! -

Thanks for the reply! €295 for a full core is quite a big investment, as we are only testing the material for now. Is there a way to modify an AA core with a different type of nozzle for the same effect. Like with this nozzle: https://nl.rs-online.com/web/p/3d-printer-parts/1101984?cm_mmc=NL-PLA-DS3A-_-google-_-CSS_NL_NL_Computing_%26_Peripherals_Whoop-_-(NL:Whoop!)+3D+Printer+Parts-_-1101984&matchtype=&pla-337733782723&gclid=CjwKCAjw_qb3BRAVEiwAvwq6VnL_TV3vOC8yjvV-h1PorpqzXDgpel-xPHsPsu2Kt8MbP1Y3lGRgxxoCEm8QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds -

We made a print using this material on our S5 printer with an AA 0.4 nozzle. Now our nozzle seems to be clogged. Should we have used a different kind of nozzle? What can we do now to fix our nozzle? Thanks in advance! Niels -
Material runs off roll holder
Niels_Amstel_Engineering replied to Niels_Amstel_Engineering's topic in Improve your 3D prints
Thank you for your replies. I will try out such a low friction holder and also cross them! 🙂 Cheers! -
The roll I have running on the roll holder on the backside of the S5 comes off, resulting it in getting stuck and a paused print. How do I prevent this?

Hi Adam, The company I work at (Amstel Engineering) uses an S5 printer. We are a design & engineering company based in Amsterdam. We use the S5 mainly for rapid prototyping, but sometimes parts we print also end up in a final product. Next to that more serious side of printing we also use it a lot to upgrade our office. We made custom monitors stands, cable holders and door signs. Hope this give you some insights, if you would like to know more, let me know. Niels

When I try to review my print using the preview > Layer view option, it does not seem to work properly as soon as I hit the play button in the bottom of the screen. It only starts filling up the top layer. I would like to review my entire model, like the old CURA used to do. Do I do something wrong or is it a bug?
