  1. It's surely not normal. Was the nozzle clogged? Most of the time I had feeder problem it was caused by a partially or totally clogged nozzle...
  2. Thanks For thr reply. I see more ghosting on your model that mine. So I guess this is what I would have to expect from a S5... I would expect better result from a $7,750 CAD 3D printer considering that I get better prints from the Prusa i3 Mk3 kit... To get me wrong, I love my S5 but I think price/performance ratio is not competitive...
  3. Hello all, I just finished the annual maintenance of our Ultimaker S5 (lubrification of axis, belt tension adjustment, cleaning feeders, squaring of Y and Y axis, manual bed leveling). Everything was fine except the squaring of X and Y axis were off by quite a lot... I then printed a benchy in the hope of any improvement in print quality (Just to let you know what my 1-1/2 year of experience have been painful). I first use PLA from Materio and there was a lot of over extrusion all around. I then think that it might be caused by the filament grade/inconsistency. I then switch on sylver metallic PLA from Ultimaker. The Benchy came out OK, but the seam is visible, there are some layer inconsistency, there is some ghosting and the overhang are not handle correctly. I feel the S5 cooling fan are under performing and ghosting is impossible to be fixed. I used a 0,15mm layer height and use the default basic cura slicing settings. How can using only the ultimaker ecosystem (printer, slicer, material) results in less sastifying results (Compare to an Ender3 and Prusa i3mk3s)??? Do you have any tips on how to improve prints? Can you share your S5 benchy prints?
  4. Humm.. Interesting. I haven't seen this behavior before. I would try to flash the firmware in the hope of any improvements. Good luck!
  5. OK I found it. https://ultimaker.com/en/resources/50679-check-for-play-on-axles
  6. @p-kimberley can you explain how you calibrate your X/Y axis? I would like to do it but not sure how to proceed. Thanks!
  7. Feuille, you can also post on the French section of the forum. It's one of the most active foreign language section.
  8. Are other prints OK or you get same results every time?
Bonne chance !
  11. Hello, I'm gettting the same result with our S5. I'm wondering if it settings related or becaus we get a "bad" 3d printer...
  12. I'm curious too. I've got similar results with an out of the box S5 and never able to fix it...
  13. I never had any isue printing PP but looking at your pictures it looks like under extrusion. I would change rectraction distance and change the seams location to random.
  14. I've already ran into same issue. In my case the nozle was slighlty clogged and only around 75% of material was flowing (line width got smaller then). I did not realized on the spot whyt the printer always stopped with that alarm so I clean the nozzle and it jsut then That i realized that the printer was not printing 100% line width. Just make a check if it is yor case.
  15. I'm also getting this kind of result with my S5. The only setting I would change is the horizontal expansion. Set it to -0,20mm. It's a shame that $6,000 printer is being beaten by a $800 MK3 on print precision.
  16. DAvebug, what material is this ?
  17. I do see same result wit my UM S5. Unfortunately for me any attemp to fix this has not worked so far. Good luck !
  18. Have you tried to just reboot the printer? and then install the firmware.
  19. Well my S5 is not that accurate. I was looking at the Method yestrday and considering the price of a S5 PRO bundle I would go with Method instead.
  20. Make sure your PVA spool is dry.
  21. It useful when you have material that is drooling when the second nozzle starts to heat but if not, you don't need it.
  22. The solution is to create another geometry (you can create a support blocker) and change the per model setting to set a 100% infill. This will give you the extra walls you are looking for.
  23. I would use a regular o ring that fits into the groove.
